The force of New Republic that had nearly arrived in the orbit of Yavin IV comprised of two Mon Calamari Cruisers, the Liberty and the Patriot. Each of them held a complement of New Republic fighters such as X-Wings, A-Wings, E-Wings, and B-Wings. The Mon Cal Cruisers themselves also packed the punch equal to that of an Imperial Star Destroyer. The two New Republic Mon Cal Cruisers opened fire at the TIEs which were confirmed as hostiles on their scanners with their laser cannons while engaging the hostile Star Destroyers with their own turbolaser batteries to the aid of Grand Admiral Pelleon's forces and the Jedi defenders. "Launch all fighters!" the captain of the Liberty commanded. "Tack Squadron, you're free to engage hostile Imperial forces. Keep in mind that some of the Imps are friendly." the captain of Patriot spoke. "Roger that, Patriot. Commencing attack runs." the leader of Tack Squadron replied.
The fighters escorting the two Mon Cal Cruisers weren't of the New Republic in a sense, but tied to them in a way as well. They were known as Tack Squadron, a former New Republic fighter group founded by Kyle Landoran shortly after the Thrawn Crisis had ended. The squadron being named after the deceased cousin of Kyle, Tack, who was killed in service of Rogue Squadron. Tack Squadron served with great distinction when the Empire struck again under the leadership of the Reborn Emperor Palpatine, won its fame especially during the Battle for Mon Calamari where it helped destroying the World Devastators and the TIE Droid fighters which were wreaking havoc on the Mon Cal homeworld. However, Tack Squadron was sadly disbanded shortly after the end of the Galactic Civil War. It truly ended its life as a New Republic squadron when Kyle left it to join the Jedi Academy. Tack Squadron was now a semi-mercenary group under the leadership of Pip Horan, Kyle's nephew whom had inherited the squadron from his uncle when he decided to train as a Jedi. Tack Squadron had done some minor jobs such as escort services and vigilante jobs of taking on pirate groups such as the Black Claw and Cleo's Raiders, but they rose to the occassion during the Battle of Nambia where they proved themselves to be just as worthy as any New Republic squadrons. Pip himself had made his uncle proud by taking part in Tack Squadron's first major battle since it was disbanded from the New Republic. Now, Pip would make Uncle Kyle proud again, facing the actual Imperials which his uncle had fought for a long time.
"Alright, boys. We are taking on actual Imps... This was what my uncle had started my squadron for, to fight Imps. But watch your radar for friendly Imps. I don't want any friendly fire incidents on my watch." Pip spoke through his com-link, smiling as the rest of his squadron acknowledged him. Tack Squadron consisted of X-Wings, A-Wings, as well as a handful of E-Wings and B-Wings for the needed heavy punch. Flanking Pip were two X-Wings, flown by his closest associates in Tack Squadron, Jan Sage and Fran Eron (the second in command). Behind them were the rest of the squad, which were in turn followed by groups of other New Republic fighters. Pip's astromech droid, Buzzer, squealed to him as soon as the enemy TIEs began to converge towards Tack Squadron and the newly arrived New Republic forces. "Break formation and engage!" Pip commanded as he pulled his X-Wing up while the rest of his squadron split up in various directions. Fran and Jan went in to protect the more vulnerable B-Wings along with a few other fighters, while Pip attacked a group of TIE Fighters which appeared in front of him. He snapped a turn to catch up with his targets which were flying in a tight formation until he had them on his sights. Pip then opened fire and destroyed both TIE Fighters, as the Thunder Mouse (as his X-Wing was chistened) flew past the debris.
Pip went after a TIE Interceptor which was attacking one of his men's A-Wing, he chased and shot it down and saved his wingmate. "Thanks, boss. I thought I was a goner." the pilot spoke. "You're sharing this paycheque too, Rhys." Pip simply replied. All around him, the chaos multiplied as New Republic fighters engaged against the Imperials while they were being engaged by Imperials themselves. It seemed almost like a free-for-all battle, if it wasn't for the radar frequencies which told friend from foe. Deciding to announce to everyone of his presence, which the New Republic Mon Cal cruisers already did, Pip switched the com-link frequency to all friendly forces. "This is Captain Pip Horan of Tack Squadron, we are here to help out with the defense of Yavin IV." he announced. Without waiting for a response, Pip linked up with Jan who had just taken down her forth TIE in the battle. She was getting good, and that was because Pip was personally training her in starfighter combat. "So, you'd finally decided to tangle with me now, Pip?" Jan asked. "Oh no, I haven't forgotten you yet." he responded with a grin, while taking down another TIE Interceptor in front of him.
Meanwhile, aboard the Eclipse-class Star Destroyer, the Darkness, Kyle had been sneaking around the ship in his search for Kasan. He could still feel her faintly through the Force. Already, Kyle began cursing at this situation, not being able to use the Force because of some new toys which the Imperials had came up with. He walked slowly down a corridor, as quietly as he could to avoid alerting anyone to his presence. Normally, he could had easily keep himself steathy with the Jedi Mind Trick, but the Force Belts would render anything to do with the Force useless. Now, Kyle must rely on his own wits, which he did whenever he was shot down during his time in Rogue Squadron. He kept going, sticking to the walls as often as he could to keep himself as hidden as he possibly could without the Force. Kyle had even deactivated his lightsabers hilt so to not make a telltale light source which would undoubtedly give him away.
In retrospect, there was not much of a point in sneaking around. That fight he and Gavriel had got into with the Stormtroopers should had already alerted the rest of the ship. But really, their presence were already known when he and Gav docked their fighters into the docking bay of the Darkness. However, being sneaky might still come in handy. Kyle kept that thought in mind as he kept going, until he heard a door opening with a hiss. He quickly disappeared into a beam near the wall. Three Stormtroopers walked right by him. "Be on the look out for those two Jedi. They had to be around here somewhere. The orders are to take them down." the lead Stormtrooper spoke. "And you'd just walked right past one of them, losers." Kyle thought to himself with a grin, while remaining hidden from the Stormtroopers until they had past. Sighing relief, Kyle moved out of hiding and kept going. That was the only thing on his mind right now. "Keep going, you must find Kasan." he thought to himself, as he quietly navigated the corridor.
Kyle kept moving again, until he spotted two Stormtroopers some distance in front of him. One of them caught a slight glimpse of him just before Kyle managed to find refuge behind yet another beam near the wall. "Did you see that?" the Stormtrooper asked. "See what?" the second one replied, looking around and returning his gaze at the questioning Stormtrooper. "I thought I saw a Jedi in front of me. I say we check it out, just to make sure." the first Stormtrooper suggested. The second Stormtrooper nodded slightly, he wanted to make sure as well. That, and this may very well be an opportunity for a promotion. "You're right. Besides, if we really find a Jedi and kill him, we are going to get all the credits. You and I will both be promoted." the second Stormtrooper agreed. So the two Stormtroopers advanced to the position where Kyle was last noticed, while he waited for the two to come. Kyle expected them as he had overheard their brief conversation, his right hand's knuckles turned white from clutching that lightsaber hilt. As soon as the Stormtroopers neared, Kyle ignited his orange blade. Upon hearing the sound of a lightsaber being ignited, all the Stormtroopers could do was say "huh" before they could do anything else. Two strokes of a lightsaber after, they laid dead with their limbs severed. Their dreams of promotion had died with them. "So much for your promotions...." Kyle sneered, deactivated his lightsaber and moved on. He only stopped briefly to grab an E-11 Blaster Rifle off one of the dead Stormtroopers which was thankfully intact despite the way Kyle had swung his lightsaber at their waist levels. The blaster would come in serious handy, and Kyle had experience with how to use one.
The room is dark and a bit chilly. The sound of the wind blowing through the vents of the ceiling cast a slight whisper. Crukai sits in the hospital bed, his back is pressed against the wall. With one leg pulled up, he lays one arm on his knee and lets the other hang to his side. His eyes were open, though it was dark, he could still see. He had never felt so awake in his life, he could feel others as they walk down the hallway outside of his room. He could feel others in other ends of the facilities. It was late and much of the noise from earlier had died down. Thoughts were more calm and less excited. Crukai's eyes just stare into the darkness as his head tilts down. His mind was wandering now, about everything that had happened.
There was too much happening right now, far too much for him to totally grasp. It was obvious that this place held some sort of purpose for him, but the real battle was within himself. Would get accept the will of this, "Force" or should he just blow it off and head back home. Crukai reaches his hand to the side and grabs a cup of water. Even though he couldn't see it, didn't know where it was, he just knew it was there. He takes a sip of the drink before setting it back down and turning in the bed. He slides his feet off the side of the bed and lets them hit the floor. Lowering his head, he takes in a slow breath before tossing himself forward and standing up.
He walks foward without the slightest appearance of confusion. It was as if the lights were on and he could see everything, he never bumbled an inch. Reaching the door, he flicks a button and it slides open with a swooshing sound. He casually walks out into the hall and makes his way down the hallway. He was barefoot and the skin of his heels made a slapping noise as he walks through the hall. He passes a few Jedi and a few droids as he walks through the academy halls.
A large window catches Crukai's attention, it was dark outside and moonlight pours from the window. Crukai slowly approaches the window and slides his hands against it as he continues to walk. At the edge of the window, there was a door that lead to a lookout. Crukai swiftly turns the corner and walks out on the lookout balcony. There were several chairs and tables on the balcony. He walks past them all and approaches the edge. He leans against the rails at the edge of the balcony and stares off. The balcony gave a great view of Yavin's jungles, with the moon light cast upon the dew of the jungle leaves...
"It's beautiful, don't you think?" A familiar voice emerges from behind Crukai.
Crukai turns his head slowly to find Luke approaching from behind. Luke casually walks up next to Crukai and leans against the rails. He crosses his hands as he stares at the scene. Crukai nods as he replies to Luke, "Ah..."
A long silence breaths past the two of them as they quietly stare off into space.
Luke turns an eye to Crukai, "I heard about your incident."
Crukai replies quietly, "Oh?"
Luke glances toward the stars, "It's a big universe." He smiles as a cool breeze lightly blows past them.
Crukai lowers his head as he shifts his feet, "It is..."
A grin forms across Luke's face as he turns to Crukai, "You're feeling the force more powerfully than ever before." He glances at his hands as he twittles them, "It's a scary feeling if you don't understand it, but... It can be the greatest thing to ever happen to you, if you let it."
Crukai speaks in a raspy voice, "I'm too old for that stuff..." He lowers his head, "I'm just... an old man lookin' for some answers before I die."
Luke remains silent for a while. His eyes fix on the stars. The light of a shooting stare could be seen reflected in his eyes, "Answers...?" He whispers.
Crukai replies quietly, "Ah."
Luke sighs as he shakes his head, "About the force?"
Crukai nods, "Ah."
Luke grins, "Give me a question."
Crukai grows silent before asking, "Why me? Why do I feel this stuff? It's been nothin' but torture..."
Luke narrows his eyes as he stares into the tree's, "It can be a curse or a blessing. Those that feel the force, are left with options to either explore this relm or leave it." He clears his throat, "But you're a strange case."
Crukai glances at Luke before glancing back toward the stars, "Oh?"
Luke nods before continueing, "With force sensitives, the force is a calling that they either choose to explore or ignore." He sighs, "You seem to be different. What are subtile hints to other sensitives, are piercing and often times, painful pokes and jabs to you." He glances up, "Whatever the force has in mind for you, you must have been fighting it for a long time."
Crukai flinches as he stares at the stars, A mental imagine of Albart flashes through his mind, "Make sure to live... for the both of us..." he had whispered.
Luke lowers his head, "The force is like a stream, a wave... it flows through all of us. Jedi learn to use this stream to carry them and make them strong." He glances at Crukai, "If you fight the stream, it will weaken you before ultimately taking you to your destiny. Even those that turn to the darkside, still embrace the force. Twisting its means to meet their own ideals, but still they flow with it." He shakes his head, "You came here, not for questions. You want relief... you want some kind of remedy. As if the force were some sort of disease."
Crukai remains silent. He stares into space, a quiet gaze on his face as he listens.
Luke pauses before pushing himself from the rail, "There is no remedy. We are all children of the force, it is everything... If you wish to find relief from your struggle, learn the way of the force. You possess great potential, I feel it. The question isn't for me to answer, it's for you to answer yourself. Will you accept what you are meant to become." He nods as he walks off, "Now that's something not even the force can tell me."
Crukai listens as Luke's footsteps leave the area. He dips his head down as he holds his face in his palm.
...:::"Did you hear about what happened in the Elrood Sector?" one of the Stormtroopers asked the other beside him. Gavriel had jumped behind a large bulkhead to hide from the group of 6 Stormtroopers out on patrol coming directly towards him. They marched in standard formation of 3 troops in the front with 3 behind them. From their stances and casual conversation it was obvious they didn't expect to encounter any of the 2 missing Jedi. "Yeah, I heard some New Republic team came in and totally wiped out the Sentinel." The 3rd trooper shook his head "That's not what I heard. I heard it was a Jedi." The group walked right by Gavriel without even a sideways glance to where he was standing. "The last thing I feel like dealing with today is a Jedi." "I hear that. Stars know I hope this was another drill..." another Stormtrooper responded as the group continued on past Gavriel. Listening as the distinctive clink-clank of their boots faded further down the hallway, Gavriel emerged from his place and looked both directions in the hallway before proceeding further to where the group came from. "Still talking about the Elrood Sector? That was a nearly 3 years ago . . . but then, these boys probably don't get out much." Gavriel thought to himself. Walking further along he suddenly hid behind another bulkhead as he spotted a security cam.:::...
...:::Gavriel peered around the corner and held up the hilt to his lightsaber. He had spotted one further back but was able to escape to the side of it. Now the trajectory of this one covered much more floorspace. Gav thought about running and cutting it down, but one missing cam would tell whoever's watching exactly where one Jedi was. Gavriel then watched as the cam rotated back towards facing the part of the hall Gav wanted to get to. Rushing quickly under the camera before it came back Gavriel then stared up at the cam and focused on the hinge it held to. Being this close allowed the Force to help him only enough for him to pop the hinge out of place leaving the camera stuck facing the way he came. "Good enough . . ." Gavriel thought again before rushing further along the side of the hall until he found the hangar door. Keeping a close eye on both directions of the hallway, Gavriel pressed the button to activate the doorway but it refused to budge. Gavriel pressed it again only to find it still wouldn't cooperate. With a momentary flash of frustration Gav struck the activator panel again and found the blow was accompanied by a small hint of blue sparks. Whether or not they were channelled by him or by the force of the blow itself was irrelevant as the door opened to the hangar bay where Kali's ship had landed.:::...
...:::Gav rushed inside the hangar entrance and hit the panel on the inside to close the door back down. Gavriel then turned to see the hangar bay itself. The walls were the same severe gray color but was mixed with white panels and some black panels as well. Clearly Torba the Hutt used whatever he could find to fill in the paneling along the walls. Looking out over the floor towards the magnetic seal keeping the atmosphere inside Gavriel could clearly see the black marks where the belly of her X-Wing contacted with the shiny silver floor. Gav walked to it and knelt down to run his hand along one such mark. The X-Wing was nowhere to be found but more of the black marks could be seen leading towards the magnetic seal. "So they brought you in, then let the X-Wing go back out . . . Kali you had to get out of the cockpit didn't you? Screech could have kept life support going even with the main power to the ship off..." Gavriel then eyed a blaster burn on the floor. "Signs of a brief fight. . . and-" "Freeze Jedi Scum!" Gavriel looked upwards to see a group of about a dozen Stormtroopers had found their way inside. That he had not sensed them showed the Force had once again stepped out on him. Gavriel lifted his arms to comply with what their next request would no doubt be.:::...
...:::Just as one trooper had stepped over to electrocuff Gavriel's left arm, Gavriel did a quick turn to the left, turning his left arm over to hold the trooper's arm as his right arm came up under just below the elbow. The braking bones made a loud snap! and just as the trooper yelled out Gavriel had snatched the BlasTech E-11 rifle he let go of and popped two rounds into his chest sending the trooper with the broken arm reeling into the group behind him. Gavriel then ran off to the side hoping to find some cover but the hangar floor was totally empty. Switching to Plan B, Gav kept running while he flicked the rifle to automatic and sounded off continuous rounds into the group of Stromtroopers that were getting their orientation back. One of the shots found a Stromtrooper's head, which exploded in a mix of white armor and bone. Gavriel kept strafing runs mixed with juking and jiving to avoid the trooper's from locking onto him until he had gunned down them all. Suddenly Gavriel could hear a hiss of released pressure from the doorway to the hall and he ran towards it, blue lightsaber extended and waiting to the side of the door. "Come on in, something's waiting for you as well . . ." Gavriel thought to himself. But just what was on the other side of the doorway Gavriel could not guess, the Force still had not returned.:::...
Captain Adamus' ship was taking heavy damage, but the shields were still holding. The arrival of two Republic ships was of little concern to him. He was more surprised that the rebels had only sent two ships. The Chimera on the other hand was quickly becoming a bigger nuisance. But it was only one ship and it had already suffered massive damage against the Darkness.
Now the other two star destroyers, Corruption and Luminya were bring their undamaged ships into the fight. It was about to get more ferocious above the burning moon of Yavin IV.
Captain Adamus steadied himself as his ship rocked under the turbolaser fire from Chimera.
Commander Kelter was busy orgainzing all of the damage reports coming in. But he was still able to report to Adamus.
"Sir, our shields are at sixty percent and holding. The bridge shields are down to forty percent. We have lost two squadron of fighters. We have identified the two rebel cruisers as the Liberty and Patriot. The are MonCal 80 class. We should have no trouble with them. We outgun them. Shall we commence an attack on them?" He asked.
"No, not yet. Our first concern is the Chimera. Bring us about and attack the weak points on the Chimera. I want to use the optima arc against them. Their shields will not be able to take much more. Order the Corruption and Luminya to fire at will. Recall all our squadrons from the surface and send them after those newly arrived Rebel squadrons. We outnumber them five to one. It's time to use those odds in our favor. Our targets must be those starfighters first. Those MonCal cruisers will be dealt with shortly. Intensify our forward firepower and reinforce our bridge shields. Bring in three squadrons of interceptors to protect our bridge area. I do not want another attack like that last one. No one gets through!"
Adamus ordered crisply and quickly. The ship shook from another blast.
"Damnit, get rid of those B-wings!" He ordered as he watched them make another bombing run.
As the orders were given out long green laser blasts from three star destroyers began to wreck havoc all over the hull of the Chimera. Its shields already weakened by its foolhardy attack on the Darkness began to buckle and disappear as flames ripped across the blackened hull. Soon more explosions began to be seen. The Chimera wouldn't be able to take much more of the pummeling.
As the republic starfighters joined into the fray against the TIE Interceptors the rest of the thirty-six squadrons were rapidly climbing to meet them. TIE Bombers began to fly back to the star destroyers so they could reload with proton torpedoes and concussion missiles. While they were reloading the gunboat squadrons unleashed their own torpedoes against the fighters of Tack squadron and any other squadron within range. Soon wreckage from both sides began to fill the space above Yavin IV. Three squadrons of TIE Interceptors from the 67th Interceptor Wing targeted Tack Squadron specifically. Led by the redoubtable Imperial ace Colonel Yujer they began their own dance of death with Tack squadron.
Colonel Jak Yujer began to list his targets to rest of his wing. "Target Tack squadron, clear your scopes and mark your targets now. Leave the leader for me. It's time to show these rebel scum what real Imperial pilots can do. Kill any rebel pilot that evacs. Engage maneuver Bravo-Delta."
"It's time to teach the pups to respect their elders." Yujer added under his breath. Clearing his scope he began to mark each member of Tack squadron as Dead One, Dead Two and so on. Already his pilots were taking their targets except for Dead One. Dead One was his.
Flipping his craft around the rest of his wing followed in perfect formation. They began to split off into groups of four, each one following perfectly in the finger four formation. Once in range they opened up with all four cannons. Several of the X-wings were caught in the massive show of green firepower and disappeared into flames of twisted metal and explosions.
Things were about to get more interesting.

"Meant to become?" The drops of morning dew on the stone floor of the lookout create a pin like sprinkling sound. Small birds fly over head, their motions were free and fluent as they flap and catch themselves on the air currents.
Crukai slowly stands up from the chair he had been resting in, the sun was rising over the horizon and it's dawning light struck him softly. Turning about, he walks toward the hall way. As he walks through the hall, he stares forward, in a blank way. He reaches a bend in the hallway, as he goes around it, he finds Aina walking toward him from the other direction. Her eyes grow wide and she smiles as she see's Crukai, "You're awake!" She shouts.
Crukai nods to her as he approaches her, "Yeah, sorry about the hassle."
Aina shakes her head as she laughs, "What's to be sorry for? You saved my life, I guess I should be happy that I'm not a wookie, or I'd owe a life debt."
Crukai nods quietly, "You should be, I'd be a horrible person to work for." They both chuckle for a moment.
Aina lowers her hand from her mouth and glances at Crukai from the edge of her eyes, "...Crukai, about... the academy."
Crukai mumbles, "I think I know."
Aina fiddles her fingers as she states, "We're not going to pressure you, but the fact of the matter is... The academy is no where near what it used to be during the days of the old republic. Master Luke has been doing his best, but talented Jedi are needed."
Crukai grumbles, "How are you so sure, that I'm talented at anything? I'm just a mechanic." He draws his hands to his waist and glances to the side.
Aina smiles as she stares up to Crukai, "Because Master Luke believes you are, and so do I..." She nods, "You have potential, if you could harness it. A lot of good could be done for the galaxy."
Crukai walks off slowly, "The galaxy huh?" He grunts, "Who said I care about any of that? Sorry missy, but I don't think a few people can protect the galaxy... it's far too big for a little girl like you or your Jedi friends to save."
Aina spouts, "Crukai, wait..." Crukai stops, not turning to face her, but waiting for her last sentence. Aina sighs as she lets her hands drop to her side, "A Jedi doesn't fight wars, we end them. We keep peace through the notion of the force, and that's why we need you. You will play some role in all of this, you know this as well as we do. Jedi protect the galaxy because we use the force, not to fight long wars, but to prevent the events that lead to them." She walks toward Crukai, "When you got here, remember when I explained about waves? How one single action, creates a chain of actions. Your purpose has only begun... time has proven to us, that even a single Jedi can change the fate of the galaxy, the absence of that one Jedi, can be diseasterous."
Crukai walks off, but not before whispering, "I don't care. I came for answers and all I get is Jedi preaching. I already have a purpose... he gave that to me, I don't need any force telling me other wise."
...:::Pockets of fire erupted across the hull of the Star Destroyer Chimaera Pellaeon put a hand against a bulkhead to steady himself against the ship rocking yet again. "Alright, they've taken the bait. Captain pull us out of this, Contact the Warhammer and Resolute to micro-jump to this moon. The Punisher I want to take up position above the battle and to stay out of sight. That fool Adamus looks to have all his attention on the New Republic ships, now is the time to hammer the Black Night." "Right away sir!" spoke Captain Xartan as he relayed the message to the two awaiting Star Destroyers holding position like coiled vipers ready to strike. Both ships made the micro-jump from their hiding places near the other Yavin Moons gravity wells, cleverly hidden from all sensors until they jumped right to the moon of Yavin IV where the battle was taking place. The Chimaera pulled away from the firefight, already some of the hull breaches being sealed back. Directly above and below the Black Night Star Destroyer were the Resolute and Warhammer. Firing up their thrusters, the two Star Destroyers swept in and unloaded massive volleys from their Ion Cannons into Captain Adamus' Star Destroyer. Caught from above and below, the almost helpless Star Destroyer was bombarded relentlessly from the Ion Cannon fire from Pellaeon's ally ships. Several points in the Black Night's hull were leaking atmosphere and bodies into space, while several flame spouts opened up along the hull as well.:::...
...:::Aboard the Resolute stood Captain Zaeon, looking at the erupting Black Night Star Destroyer with approval. Liutenant Farreck looked up from a console. "Sir, the Black Night's shields are operating at 3% . . . they have now failed. The New Republic Mon Calamari Ships held their attention long enough to be caught in the vice." "And their Bridge Shields?" "Were reinforced but are down to less than 15%." "Cease Ion Cannon fire on the hull and focus on the Bridge and switch to hull turbolaser defensive fire. The TIE Bombers may begin their attack." "Yes Sir.":::...
...:::From the docking bay of the elevated Star Destroyer Resolute came 2 full squadrons of TIE Bombers, which split up to one squadron attacking the various points of the broken and exposed Star Destroyer's hull, the other squadron went for the Bridge shields, several more blue shots of Ion Cannon fire rained down upon the less'shielded parts of the bridge, the blasts targetting and shorting out vital systems needed to help keep the shields operational. Taking advantage of this, the TIE Bombers responded by sending in a full volley of bombs to mix with the Ion Cannon fire and pound the Black Night further. Aboard the Star Destroyer Warhammer, Captain Mace Fyar watched as two other enemy Star Destroyers made their way to try and assist the crippled Black Night. His Liutenant Dannik gave him a salute. "Sir, the Luminaya and Corruption have broken from their bombardment of Yavin and are moving to assist the Black Night." "With their Command ship Black Night broken, their attacks will be the death throes of a doomed command. Get a lock on their coordinates then Contact the Punisher, the stage is set." "Yes Sir.":::...
...:::Aboard the Star Destroyer Punisher Admiral Desard looked down from the command bridge of his Star Destroyer which was poised as a gargoyle high above the fight over the Yavin moon below. He had recieved orders to be the back up should Pellaeon's plan fail, it hadn't. Captain Adamus and his Black Night Star Destroyer had focused their attention on the pitiful New Republic ships and failed to see the eagle's talons closing around him. Grand Admiral Pellaeon's plan had worked, which was to be expected from someone trained by the Chiss Grand Admiral Thrawn himself. Captain Kael looked up from the lower level of the bridge. "Sir, we've recieved the coordinates of the Luminaya and Corruption. They are almost directly below us." Desard nodded. "Then lock on the tractor beams for as long as possible and execute Operation Hell's Rain. Let's give them a taste of what they've done to the Yavin moon.":::...
...:::The tractor beams of the Star Destroyer Punisher locked onto both the Luminaya and Corruption. Dividing the tractor beam coordinates to the two ships and sending them to subsequent Turbolaser and Heavy laser cannons, the Punisher was to send down a taste of the bombardment they used on the Yavin moon that held Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy. Once the Warhammer and Resoluteheld onto their positions above and below the Black Night, they remained clear of Desard's makeshift Star Destroyer bombardment. Which began as soon as the Heavy Laser cannons were primed. Unprecedented damage was dealt to the two Star Destroyer's in Tarkin's service below from the "Star Destroyer Bombardment" engaged by Grand Admiral Pellaeon's forces and executed by Admiral Desard. The Three Star Destroyers Warhammer, Resolute, and Punisher along with Grand Admiral Pellaeon's Chimaera had turned the tide to the side of Luke Skywalker's Jedi. Tarkin's Star Destroyers Black Night, Luminaya, and Corruption were effectively caught in a vice, and Skywalker's Jedi fighters mixed with the New Republic B-Wings, X-Wings, A-Wings, and E-Wings along with the Imperial Remnant Grand Admiral Pellaeon's TIE Interceptor mk1s, TIE Bombers, and grunt TIE Fighters were stinging hard.:::...
...:::Luke Skywalker stood in the Jedi Academy's defense chamber watching the events play out so many miles above him. Tarkin's fighters were getting hammered, and the Star Destroyer Black Night seemed to be holding together by only rancor spit and glue. The main concern had been containing the jungle fires the Luminaya and Corruption had started. Fire Containment ships had been working overtime to deal with the blazes and as if the Yavin Moon itself were responding, rainstorms had gathered and help quench the flames. Luckily the Two enemy Star Destroyers were called away before their bombardment could continue. The Yavin Jungle moon would recover, but the battle in space was still fierce, the fighter pilots helping the Jedi could use all the help they could get. Luke looked to his wife Mara Jade and without a word she knew what he was up to. "Skywalker . . ." "They need all the help they can get. I need you to remain here and coordinate our defenses." "So you can play your wet-behind-the-ears farmboy who blew up the Death Star role again. Just take care up there." Luke fancied a smile as R2-D2 rolled to a stop behind him. "Why, is that concern I see on the face of Mara Jade ex-Imperial Assassin? Mara cut her eyes at Luke "Shut up and go farmboy." Luke held up his hands in mock-surrender and made his way out. His XJ-Class X-Wing was fueled and waiting for him and Artoo. Here's hoping history will repeat itself from nearly 25 years ago . . ." Luke thought as he made his way to the fighter.:::...
The space battle over Yavin IV intensified as the hostile Imperial forces brought their TIE Bombers, Interceptors and Fighters from bombarding Yavin IV to attacking the newly arrived New Republic forces. Pip could feel it intensifying as proton torpedoes were shot at him, the rest of Tack Squadron as well as the other New Republic starfighters. "Sithspawn. So this is what Uncle Kyle went through back in Rogue Squadron?" Pip asked himself, just as he had blasted down another TIE Interceptor in front of him. This was indeed his first time fighting the Imperials, whereas Fran was more experienced since he was the second-in-command for Tack Squadron when Kyle was still around to command it. "That's just a taste of what your uncle went through everytime he faced the Imps, Pip. I should know." Fran replied from the other end of the com-link, after having a close call with a proton torpedo from the Imperial gunboats.
Others weren't so lucky, an E-Wing and an A-Wing from Tack Squadron succumbed to hits by the proton torpedoes. A few other New Republic starfighters had been destroyed as well. The Jedi-piloted starfighters fared better only because they had the Force on their side, but even so they had a close call. Jacen was nearly hit by a proton torpedo as well, but did manage to juke out of the way in time. "Whew, that was close. These Imperials were more intense than I thought." Jacen muttered, then soon blasting down a stray enemy TIE Bomber which was attempting to regroup to reload for the next strike. Katrina herself also managed to dodge the proton torpedoes fired by the Imperial gunboats, she maneuvered her E-Wing against a group of TIE Fighters heading straight for one of the Mon Cal Cruisers. Katrina looped downwards, then back upwards so that she came right behind and below the TIEs. Katrina fired her shots, blasting down two of them while the last one was finished off by Jan's X-Wing. "Now this is getting interesting...." Katrina spoke, at the sight of some of the TIE Interceptors which specifically targeted Tack Squadron.
Pip had just taken down another TIE Fighter while Fran took down two more TIE Interceptors, his eyes were caught by the carnage of the battle. It was something he had only heard of from Uncle Kyle about his experiences in Rogue Squadron. The Star Destroyer Black Night continued to pound the Star Destroyer Chimaera, while the Mon Cal Cruisers engaged in ship-vs-ship battle as well. He had fought the Battle of Nambia, but this was something which was more intense than he had came to expect. Just when things couldn't get any worse, Buzzer had warned Pip of three squadrons of TIE Interceptors bearing down on him and Tack Squadron. "Spatz..... They just have to play it like that, huh?" Pip muttered. It wasn't long before Tack Squadron was showered by green laser blasts from the TIE Interceptors, inflicting a loss of several of their X-Wings, the rest of Tack Squadron managed to weave clear of the green blasts. "Fran, I could use a status report!" Pip spoke as he returned fire against the TIE Interceptors, downing another which came in front of him. "We lost several of our X-Wings, Pip. Tack 5 through 7 and Tack 12 and 14." Fran reported. "Then it's time to get serious. Let's show these Imps what a squadron founded by your uncle could do, Pip." Jan spoke as she had downed another TIE Interceptor. "I hear that. Tack Squadron, take out those TIE Interceptors. All B-Wings and E-Wings, attack the Star Destroyers Black Night, Corruption, and Luminaya." Pip replied just as he pulled Thunder Mouse up into an upward loop to go after another TIE Interceptor, he opened fire as soon as he had the TIE in his sights and blasted it down. He had took a few hits, however, as Buzzer beeped in warning to Pip.
While Tack Squadron engaged the TIE squadrons that attacked it, the tide had suddenly turned to the Jedi's favor as Grand Admiral Pellaeon's Imperial Remnant forces pulled a trick they had up their sleeve. Jacen watched as the Star Destroyers Warhammer, Resolute and Punisher closed in upon the Black Night, Corruption and Luminaya and locked them with their tractor beams. What happened next was a stunning bombardment against the targeted Star Destroyers, Corruption and Luminaya. Jacen could tell that they were practically using the heavy laser cannons which were used for orbital bombardments against them. "By the Force, I certainly don't want to be caught in that...." he said. "That's Imperial for you, Jacen. Swift and ruthless. Might as well take advantage to attack them. Make sure you let Jaina know that I'm going after those Star Destroyers." Katrina commented, checking to see how many proton torpedoes she had. "Are you sure, Katrina?" Jacen asked, "An E-Wing carried 16 proton torpedoes, with the B-Wings helping out, we could take them out much sooner. Get someone to cover me while I'm at it." Katrina replied.
At that moment, the B-Wings and E-Wings of the New Republic came in hard on the Star Destroyers in Tarkin's service along with Pellaeon's TIE Bombers. Katrina braved the TIE Interceptors guarding the Black Night. Beside her were two B-Wings piloted by mercenaries of Tack Squadron, some of the New Republic's X-Wings and A-Wings helped cleared the way by keeping the TIEs occupied while the TIE Bombers were attacking the bridge area. Smiling at the sight, Katrina braved the defensive laser batteries of the Black Night. Once in range, both B-Wings and Katrina's E-Wing unleashed their proton torpedoes against the Black Night and pulled off as soon as they could. Some of the proton torpedoes struck the targeted area as a Wookie mercenary pilot of a B-Wing growled victoriously. Shortly after, the two Mon Cal Cruisers, Liberty and Patriot, closed in on the bombarded Star Destroyers Corruption and Luminaya, firing their turbolaser cannons to literally add more pain to the injuries.
"Gabriel. The Star Destroyer we attacked before has lost all shielding. You can go for her if you can."
"Give me a moment." Gabriel then checked his ordinance again in case he may have fired a Torpedoe without noticing, "Ok... 2 Proton Torpedoes left." Gabriel then checked his scope, he had 4 Star Destroyer's compliment of TIEs to go through, with any hope & belief in the force, Gabriel could make the attack run.
"Ok boys, keep me covered, That Star Destroyer is as good as mine."
Gabriel then started to blast his way through opposing TIE fighters & Intercepters to get to the Star Destroyer he initially targeted for attack, being boxed in by 2 Star Destroyers & without Sheilds, this time he would make sure it went down.
Flying in between the Star Destroyers, Gabriel came under intence Dorsal hull Turbolaser & Laser cannon fire, even persued by the occasional group of TIEs, but his Jedi training, mixed with his flight skills kept him alive long enough to attack the Black Night
Once close enough, the same experience as before came to him, the Turbolaser fire was heavy,, but not accurate, the bolts missed the Hawk compleatly, the Laser fire jsut skimmed or clipped minor damage to the Hawk.
"You guys don't know how boring that gets guys."
However, something that didn't happen beofre occured, A TIE locked onto Gabriel's Tail & started opening fire, Gabriel Had to scrap the run compleatly & lose the TIE, Pulling up from the Dorsal reigon of the hsip, Gabriel put some distance betwen him & the TIE, snapped the Hawk round 180 degrees & fired numerous Blaster bolts at the TIE, destroying at after modifying his accuracy. After that, Bagriel thought 'What the hell' & Setted the Hawk toward the Bridge of the Black Night's Command Tower.
Keeping the fancy moves going, Gabriel closed the disance & got ready to fire,
"OK, Imps. Here's a presant from the Jedi Academy."
Slamming his thumbs on the secondary fire buttons on his Fighter controls, the B-Wing fired its last Proton Torpedoes, Gabriel watched as the Laser fire kept coming his way, as he watched the Torpedoes fly he said to himself,
"Come on, Come on."
After what seemed as a 'failed' attempt, Gabriel saw the result... the Command Deck Exploded with the force of the Torpedo explosions & yield.
The Hawk then veered away from the Black Night before it began to explode.
The wookie pilot had no time to celebrate as the TIE interceptors from the 67th suprised them from behind and unleashed their green death. The lasers ripped thru the more slower B-wing engines causing the fighter to explode in a shower of sparks. The wookie's wingman could only scream as the remains of his partners B-wing slammed into his his B-wing and they both disappeared in the fiery explosions.
But the tide was quickly turning against the three star destroyers. Grand Admiral Pallaeon's trap had been sprung and they were caught directly in the middle. The star destroyer Black Night was being ripped apart by the other two star destroyers. Captain Adamus could only watch as his fleet was being torn apart. His ship had already lost its shields and damage reports were coming in at a hurried pace. Red hazard lights flashed everywhere bathing the bridge in it's crimson glow. Alarms sounded without seccesing, putting everyone on edge. The bridge area was in disarray and Adamus was doing everything that he could to try to hold it together.
"Signal the fleet to begin evacua-!" Adamus ordered. But was interupted by Commander Kelter pointing excitedly to the viewport.
"Too late!" He yelled as the blue torpodoes slammed into the bridge area enveloping the bridge in flames and atmosphere as the bridge blew apart.
Outside the Dark Night began it's deathroes. More explosions ripped through it as the command tower exploded into space dust. Trapped by the gravity wells of the moon below it below, the now headless star destroyer began to plunge headfirst into Yavin IV.
But Colonel Yujer wasn't paying attention to that. His focus was entirely on Tack squadron. So far the battle between the two squadrons was pretty even, but things were about change.
"Tighten formation. Target the remining B-wings and X-wings." He ordered as he and his four wingman targeted another two X-wings. Matching the X-wings speed he began pummel it's rear shields with everything he had. The X-wing's pilot tried to turn into the fire as any good pilot would. His wingman was already coming around behind Col. Yujer in an attempt to save his friend. But with four TIE interceptors against two X-wings, the outcome was never in doubt. Col. Jugers wingman had already positioned himself in front of the first X-wing before the pilot realized what happend his fighter was shot out from underneath him. Col. Juger tightened his turn to draw the remaining X-wing after him. Flipping his craft right and left to avoid a missile lock, he pulled the yoke tight against his chest and pulled his ship into a tight 180 degree turn. The X-wing was forced to either continue with the turn or break off and come around. He chose to continue the turn, but when he rolled out there was three interceptors waiting for him and his joined his wingman in death.
While the fighters continued their deadly dance with each other, the other two star destroyers, Luminaya and Corrupter, were about to close the final chapter on the battle of Yavin IV. With the firepower of three ships against the two star destroyers it looked as though all was lost. But they had one last trump card to play. Signaling the four escort carriers to retrieve the remaing fighters, the Corrupter and Luminaya targeted everything they had against the tractor beam grip of the Punisher. Soon the shields around the tractor beam projectors were gone as was the death grip that the Punisher had on both ships. Then something happened that no one in the battle expected. In an act of sheer desperation or lunacy, the doomed Corrupter angled it's bow and plunged it directly into the underside of the attacking Punisher cutting the ship into half. Both ships began to break apart in brilliant explosions. Escape pods could be seen flying out from both dying craft. The republic ships were so suprised by the desperate manuever that they failed to watch as the Luminaya moved out of their grasp and into hyperspace.
The remaining squadrons of TIE craft flew as fast as they could around the otherside of the moon to where the four escort carriers awaited them. The squadrons of assualt gunboats disappeared into hyperspace. Once the four carriers had gathered as many TIE craft as possible they too moved into hyperspace. As fast as the attack had begun, it had ended.
...:::All around the Yavin moon cheers went up from both the Jedi helping to coordinate the defense, to the starfighter pilots still in the air. Mara jumped on the comline to Luke. "It's over husband o' mine. We got 'em beat!" Luke had just stepped onto the first rung of the ladder to his X-Wing's cockpit when he felt a sense of relief wash over him in the Force. Mara's message clarified it further. Closing his eyes a moment Luke took a breath and smiled then grabbed his comline. "Copy that. I'm on my way back." Inside the droid socket of the X-Wing Artoo tootled a question. Luke could only shrug. "Guess we were late this time. Come on." Artoo then disengaged himself from the controls of the X-Wing and was down from the craft momentarily.:::...
...:::A moment later the call went out to all the Jedi pilots helping to defend the moon of Yavin IV. "Great job pilots, the battle is over and we have won. Return back to the Academy, drinks for everyone." Luke shut off the comline and sat back with a smile. This had been a very suspenseful time and the Jedi could certainly use a break from the fighting now. The holocom then flickered again with an incoming mesage from the Star Destroyer Chimaera and a battle-weary Grand Admiral Pellaeon. "Congratulations on your victory Grand Admiral. And thank you for the assistance." "It was a costly victory at best. The Chimaera is slowly taking it's shape again. Captain Adamus' Star Destroyer nearly destroyed it. We did however lose the Star Destroyer Punisher. In a last act of desperation the Corruption rammed into it." Luke's face turned serious. "Admiral Desard, did he escape?" Pellaeon's face took on a lighter tone even visible in the blue color of the holo. "Thankfully we recieved every escape pod but 2, which Tarkin's Escort Carriers destroyed. Admiral Desard and Captain Kael were among the survivors. I must ask permission to remin in orbit until repairs to my ship are completed though.":::...
...:::"Permission Granted Grand Admiral. Again, thank you for your help. Let us know if we can offer any help." "Will do. Pellaeon out." The holo flickered back to nothingness. Jedi Master Kenth Hamner wiped the sweat off his brow. "I will say this for Tarkin's forces, if Pellaeon didn't have that trap set up, this moon would likely be slag." Luke nodded as from the entray way the Mon Calamari Jedi Healer Cilghal and her Chadra-Fan apprentice Tekli entered followed by an Ithorian Jedi Knight named Monchra. Behind them starpilots were landing and more cheers could be heard fom the din. Luke stood up. "Cilghal, Telki, Monchra. How does the jungle look? Monchra answered. "Normally would take many moons to recover such devastation, however the power of the Force promotes life, and through their harmony, the jungle will grow once more." Luke nodded. "Thank you Monchar. I'm sure you'll do everything you can to see to it. But right now, let's go and congratulate the Jedi who did such an outstanding job with our defense.":::...
Starcraft: A standard XJ-type X-wing starfighter named Tranquility, painted a uniform space-black, so it is slightly more difficult to see for pilots tracking it visually. The lasers have been modified to yield a higher rate of fire.
Appearance: Jak is approximately six feet tall and weighs slightly over one hundred pounds. His extremely slender frame is draped by a jet-black cloak over a black tunic and black leggings. His lightsaber usually rests quite contently on his right hip, under the cloak. On the opposite hip he carries a five-inch, curved, wickedly sharp fighting knife for when a lightsaber is just too loud or long. (Such as when grappling).
Bio: Jak was noted by his Master when he was still young, and his parents, who were monetarily impoverished, had difficulty keeping him well-fed. They not-so-gladly gave him up to his Master, who began to teach him of the Force.
Admittedly, when it comes to using the Force in ways other to improve his inherent abilities (such as the telekinesis aspect), he is not the best, not nearly. However, the Force enhances his piloting of, which he is extremely good at. Also, the Force enhances his expertise, Stealth.
Jak prefers to stay away from the main battles in a space encounter, occasionally luring one or two enemies over before blasting them into so much scrap metal, before he repeats the process.
When being sneaky, Jak can go quite a long way without using a mote of his Force abilities, being naturally slender and tall, he is quite capable acrobatically, and able to perform a number of Splinter Cell-esque feats. (Split jump, inverted neck break, SWAT turn, wall running, et cetera).
Misc: Jak is a bit "old school" in most everything he does, when sneaking, he sticks to the shadows, and quietly eliminates anybody that might see him, simply so he might not run across them later. When flying, he tends to swoop in behind his target, and "walk" the blaster bolts into the victim's craft.
Jak has a tenancy to confront problems forcibly rather than think his way around them.
His saber-fighting style is usually a series of counter-attacks, and he prefers to have the weapon deactivated until the moment before striking his opponent, relying on his abilities to dodge, rather than activate the weapon...
Jak heard the news, the battle was over. He leaned against the hull of the Tranquility, head craned looking upward.
His Master had asked that he not come up today, into this battle. His master had been rather vauge as to why, but there was really no need. Jak's Force abilities may be weak, but he knew when his Master was not going to be landing. There was almost no such thing as a Master/Padawan pairing now, but Jak had had one. He devolped a Bond with his master, growing attachted to him as a son would to a father. And now daddy was gone.
There would be no need to comfort the young Padawan, and every Jedi knew it. Jak had already coped, since before the starfighter became so many random atoms, Jak had coped. He was not so precognitive that he knew his Master would go, but he had the sinking suspiction. He was gone
"...There is no Death, only the Force,"
The words echoed in some small, empty corner of Jak's skull as it lay against Tranquility's hull.
Somewhere deep inside him, however, he wept.
Every human has a dark side, insignificant as it may be, for there can be no light without darkness. Jak's dark side was a selfish beast, and it wept for his lost Master, it wanted to... compensate, an eye for an eye.
But the dark dragon held no sway. His cries could not even fall on Deaf ears, for the dragon had no tounge to cry with, it had long since been cut out.
And so, Jak did not weep, and he may have seemed cold, heartless even to an outsider. The only ones that truly knew him were Jak and Tranquility . Jak stood to greet the returning pilots and painted a smile on his face.
"... there is no Death, only the Force,"

Renn had lost another pilot and once again the death pained him terribly. But he watched as Black Knight exploded and he cheered as did his squadron and Wraith Squadron. He found out that the attacker was Gabriel and he decided to send him a message.
"Nice shot, kid! Next time we're in a cantina I'll buy you a drink," Renn said, he found he was smiling.
His squadron mostly picked off the TIEs, never going for the Star Destroyers or anything along those lines. He turned his X-wing back towards Yavin and was trailed by his squadron and Face's.
"Come on, let's go get those drinks!"
Within minutes Renn entered the atmosphere and headed in the direction of the Academy's hangar. He looked out of his canopy and saw that Face's A-wing was right next to his fighter. When they both landed they both shook hands.
"You did good, Renn," Face told him.
"Thanks. I, I just wish I could've saved everyone. They were counting on me to save them and I couldn't do a damn thing to help them out!" He took several deep breaths and managed to get his anger under control. He wasn't going to be the next Anakin Skywalker, the next Darth Vader, he was going to control his emotions.
That anger outburst wasn't unsual. He did have many but he tried desperatly to get them under control. He felt ashamed and weak for allowing his emotions to get the best of him. Renn was always like that, even as a child. He tried to better than everyone and when he failed he'd beat himself up over it. He knew those were not Jedi emotions, but in his opinion everyone expected the Jedi to be gods, to be immortal. When in reality they're just flesh, blood, and bone like everyone else.

Crukai was walking in a slump when he reached the star ship hanger. He places his hand on a wall and sighs, several doubts were running through his mind. He watches as several star ships fly into the hanger, one after another. Some had taken damage, while others were still in perfect condition. The smell of burnt metal and grease was thick in the air, it brought back memories... Crukai calmly watches as the pilots leap out of their ships and begin cheering in a celebration. Some of the pilots were lifted off their feet and held up in cheerful celebration.
Crukai watches as they walk off with the pilot, chanting his name. His eyes swiftly glide across the hanger, he watches as the injured are quickly loaded onto stretchers and hurried off to the medic centers. He glances to the side, to watch a droid taking note of all the star crafts that returned... and noting the ones... that didn't.
Crukai sighs quietly, it was always hard to accept the death of youth... A lot of good kids died today, he could feel it. There was a feeling of happyness in the air, but there was also a hesitant and faint feeling of remorse. Crukai glances to the side to find a tall Jedi, dressed in all black. He was leaning against his X-wing, staring into the sky... Crukai could feel something from the kid, an uneasy calm.
A hand rests on Crukai's shoulder, he glances back to find a Jedi pilot standing behind him, "Great job." He says cheerfully.
Crukai glances forward, he quietly murmmers, "People died..."
The Jedi pats Crukai's shoulder, "Well, death is only a transition to the force. Therefore, there is no death. There's only the force. Our friends will always be with and apart of all of us."
Crukai remains silent as he stares at the kid in the distance, he could sense no remorse from the kids heart. He closes his eyes as he whispers, "You Jedi... are strong."
The pilot pulls away from Crukai and says, "Yeah, I suppose we have to be... for everyone's sake, but then... there is no death, really. There's only the force, when you accept that, things appear different. There is never an end, just a change."
Crukai asks quietly, "You Jedi believe that? You don't believe in death, even when your own comrades die? When your friends die?"
The Jedi nods, "That's just change. It's all just, becoming one with the force. When we become one with the force, we breath our existence into it, making it even stronger. There is nothing to grieve over."
Crukai glances toward him, "I see... By the way, do you know where I can see about salvaging a ship?"
The pilot rubs his head, "Uh, probably should ask old man Geenis." He cups his hands over his mouth, "Hey! Geenis!"
A shouts emerges from somewhere in the hanger, "What!?"
The pilot motions for Crukai to speak, "Well, good luck with where ever life may take you, and may the force be with you." He waves before quickly running off.
Crukai walks in the direction that the old man's voice emerged from and finds a decreped old geezer, beating on the side of an x-wing with a wrentch, "Damn piece of sith snot!" He coughs, "Not as good as they used to be, hmph!"
Crukai approaches the old man and asks, "Pardon, but would ya happen to be Geenis?"
The old man glances at Crukai, adjusting his thick glasses up and down, "What's wantin' to know?!"
Crukai flinches, "Listen, my star ship was damaged during your battle. It's currently in the jungle somewhere and I need the damn thing salvaged and repaired."
Geenis adjusts his glasses, "WHAT?! This ain't no free mechanic shop!"
Crukai growls angrily, "It's one of your Jedi's fault that my ship was damaged in the first place!"
The old man grins, "Well, that's some tough luck." He points around the hanger, "As you can see, I've got my hands full. I don't have time to be messin' with your junk."
Crukai twitches, obviously annoyed, "Alright, then just give me tools and parts and I'll fix it myself."
Geenis laughs in hoarse weeze, "Hoohoho! You jest, you jest! Haha, fix a star craft? In the Jungle of Yavin? Surely, you're mad? You wouldn't have all the tools to calibrate and balance."
Crukai cracks his knuckles, "Let me worry about that, where are the parts."
The old man sighs, "If it crashed, and I'm going to assume it did, how are you going to raise it off the ground?"
Gabriel saw the Imperial fleet retreat after the death blows to Tarkin's fleet were given, the 1st by him, the other by a Star Destoryer out of sheer desperation. The problem now was why did he feel like this victory wasn't his. He destroyed a Star Destroyer, but he had to ask Pellaeon for help, he kept thinking that he should give Pellaeon some of the credit for the destrouction of the Black Night,
"I'll have to thank him later, then. That's if I don't forget about it."
Gabriel then decided to head for home, on his way, he thought about what had just happened, 'Why do I feel so wierd? All he did was help me take down that Star Destroyer... but I have to accept the fact he is an Imperial Naval Admiral. The same form of Imperial that hunted the old generation of Jedi to extinction & nearly perverted the source of the new Generation of Jedi... but why do I feel that I should thank him?'
Gabriel didn't understand, one the one hand he was an Imperial, but on the other hand, he owed Pellaeon one, he then recalled the past 2 battels that took part in orbit, Pellaeon had assisted in both, lending his TIEs & Star Destroyers to the defence both times without pause for thought... however. he had the idea that if the former Emperor Palpatine were still alive & showed himself to the Admiral in person, he may have turned his back on the defence & aided in the attack.
'If the Imperails have changed since the fall of the Empire, I still want to see proof that they have, Defending the Academy isn't proof enough in my eyes, they could have turned on us at any moment.' But another thought crossed Gabriel's mind, 'But they didn't... they had every moment at their disposal to turn on us, and they didn't. If they aren't as cold & murderous as they were before, why do I want to see more proof that they aren't?'
The question kept picking at Gabriel's mind all the way back into the Academy Hanger. Hopign the hanger was empty, he needed the breathing & thinking space, the last thing he needed was attention.
Once he had touched down in the hanger, Gabriel took off his helmet & looked out into the hanger,
"Great. I'm not getting going into the Academy with everyone still high in morale after what I've done. I'm gonna lie low until things get back to normal."
Gabirel then started to remove his Jump suit, revealing his Jedi attire, after stripping the Jump suit from his body, Gabriel then decided to wait for the hanger to empty a little before he decided to go out into the jungle or somewhere out of the way. Once clear, he decided to move now before someone else noticed him.
Upon vacating his fighter, Gabriel left the Academy interior via the open hanger door. he then looked around to see where he could go to stay hidded from everyone else, he thought one of the Temples around the Main academy, lucky for him the nearest was in the opposite direction of the Mess Hall, so Gabriel decided to head for one of the temples for some quiet time to himself to think about trusting the Imperials yet or not.
After a couple of minutes of walking toward & climbing the closest lesser temple, Gabriel thought he was safe for the moment from unwanted attention, Gabriel turned so he looked out towards the Jungle, he then sat cross legged on the ancient stone surface of the temple top, placed his hands on his knees, closed his eyes & slipped into the calm that was Maditation.
Inside the corridors of the Darkness, Kyle continued his own quest to find Kasan as he tracked his way and followed what little of the Force remained around him. Although his two hands were cradling an E-11 Blaster Rifle, he was still ready to use his lightsaber when needed. He was wondering just how Gavriel was doing, but was reassured that he would be just fine. Gavriel wouldn't want anyone to slow him down in his search for Kali, nor did Kyle wanted Gavriel to do the same to him in his search for Kasan. His hopes wasn't too high, the Force could still only be faintly felt with all those Stormtroopers wearing the new Force Belts. "But if for one moment Tarkin thinks that will stop me from finding Kasan and getting to him, he's dead wrong." he thought determinedly to himself. Already, Kyle had proven to be capable of dealing with the Stormtroopers even without the Force. Granted, it was more difficult than when he could use the Force, but at least Kyle had experience eluding Stormtroopers when he was shot down during his days in the Rebellion. Kyle knew too well that as long as he could keep using stealth and guile, he might be able to gain the upper hand. Trouble was, one could only remain stealthy for so long.
The only thing Kyle could do now was to hang on as tightly and as madly as he could, not giving up on hope. He kept that in mind as he continued to navigate the corridors, hiding from Stormtroopers and security cameras every now and then to minimize engagement with them. So far, Kyle was successful in eluding the Stormtroopers, and he steadily advanced towards where he thought Kasan was, following what he felt faintly in the Force. He stopped at a door to noticed a security camera which was just turning towards him. Quickly, Kyle moved right under it so that it caught nothing unusual. Kyle then waited until the camera turned elsewhere, then decided his move as he opened the door. He peeked out slightly to see a cargo bay of some sort, with crates all over the place. It also had another door which led to another cooridor. Kyle knew that he was going the right way when the faint Force told him that he was coming closer to Kasan. He went in right away, and hid behind a few crates before three Stormtroopers managed to spot him.
"Whew...." Kyle sighed relief, just as he heard the Stormtroopers conversing among one another. "Heh, we were told to be on alert for intruders, yet I ain't seeing any around here." one of the Stormtroopers spoke. The second Stormtrooper only nodded at the comment, "Are you sure you really want something serious to happen? I mean, I heard that the intruders were Jedi." the second Stormtrooper replied. "Jedi? What Jedi? With these Force Belts on, they aren't that big and bad anymore." the first Stormtrooper nearly laughed while the third trooper remained silent, but it wasn't long before he finally spoke. "Yeah, didn't we already captured one Jedi?" the third trooper spoke. "Agreed. But we still got to keep an eye open in case if there is an intruder around." the first Stormtrooper finally ended the converstation as they moved around the cargo bay. Fortunately for Kyle, the Stormtroopers' laxed behavior seemed to meant that they weren't expecting any intruders.
Kyle began moving among the crates towards the door, but there was only one problem. Two more Stormtroopers came and stood guard at the door which Kyle was aiming to get out from. Slowly, Kyle crept among the crates to get as close to them as possible without being spotted. Once again, Kyle could hear them both conversing. "I heard that we'd just nabbed ourselves a Jedi, the first time since the Jedi Purge." one of them spoke. "That's nothing compared to the other prisoner. What's her name again? Oh, yes, Ex-Lieutenant Kasan Moor. I heard there's quite a bit of story between her and Vice Admiral Talbot." the second trooper replied. "No Sithspit. If I'd heard correctly, she gave Talbot the cold shoulder, or so the story went. Now this starts to get interesting, she defected to Rogue Squadron soon enough." the first trooper added. "Yeah, and as if that wasn't interesting enough, I picked up rumors that she'd fallen in love with a Rebel Scum. Yeah, I bet Talbot was having some serious fun with her before she would be executed. Oh well, she's getting what's coming to her as a traitor. That's just the way it is." the first Stormtrooper said again, and the second Stormtrooper only nodded.
The whole conversation made Kyle even more angry, now he had verbal verifications that Kasan was indeed being tortured by Talbot. When he finds that Imperial, Kyle would see to it that he puts his lightsaber right through his body. But right now, Kyle needed to get to her first, and get past all these Stormtroopers, especially those two at the door. Taking his lightsaber hilt, Kyle tapped it lightly against one of the crates to lure the Stormtroopers away from the door. He moved backwards to hide among another bunch of crates as the Stormtroopers investigated the source of the sound made by Kyle. "Strange, I heard something here." said one of the Stormtroopers, while Kyle moved slowly out of his cover to get to the door through another passage. The Stormtroopers had spotted him, however. "You there, freeze!" one of the Stormtroopers called out. But Kyle simply whipped around and fired his blaster rifle at them, taking both of them down with accurate shots as they both got knocked back a few inches. "Can't believe I still haven't got rusty with this thing." he thought out loud. But Kyle had no time to rejoice, as the other three Stormtroopers heard the shots and were well on their way. His instincts were confirmed by some red blaster bolts coming at him as he ran towards that door. He ducked down and fired two rounds which downed the first Stormtrooper in his sight. Kyle squeezed off four more shots which downed another, and the last one was also taken down as well.
Without further hesistation, Kyle had exited the area through the door, and found himself in yet another corridor. Things wouldn't be easy, and he knew it. As he kept going, Kyle suddenly felt a strong spike in the Force, someone was hurt seriously. But who could that be? Could it be Kasan? But then he also sensed something else too. The absence of Kali and Gav. "So they had made it out..... Good. Now it's all up to me." he thought.
The three Imperial leaders stood on the bridge of the Darkness as the mammoth ship dropped out of hyperspace. The blue tunnel was replaced by the black darkness of space. But there was also in front of them a wall of asteroids. Talbot raised his right eyebrow as he looked at Tarkin.
"Why did we come here?" He asked.
“Because this is where we can deal with those Jedi without interference. This system is unknown to the galaxy at large. Nobody will find us here.” Tarkin stated.
“Where are we then?” Talbot asked.
Tarkin looked at Talbot out of the corner of his eye.
“The Eclipse system. Rather fortuitous don’t you think? The planet itself is surrounded by a wall of asteroids. Only very small ships or fighters are able to get through to the planet itself.”
Tarkin turned around and began to walk away from the viewports. Talbot and Daala followed him a couple of footsteps behind.
“It is now time to set the trap for both of those Jedi. I will lure Gavriel into the hangar by using Kali as bait. Talbot, you will take care of Kyle. His life doesn’t matter to my plans. So take Kasan with you and have her executed as well. Use her for bait as well.”
Talbot grinned. ”As you wish.”
“Admiral Daala, you will wait here on the bridge until I return. Once I have returned, then we will go back to Yavin IV and finish the job.” Tarkin said.
“Good, I want to payback all the misery that those Jedi have caused me.” Daala said angrily.
“Don’t worry, Daala. Your time will come. Soon, Yavin IV will be just a memory.” Tarkin said as he continued to walk off the bridge.
Daala stopped at the bridge entrance and smiled. She would enjoy watching Yavin IV be reduced to an asteroid field. She turned back and looked outside to the asteroid field. Yes, soon just another asteroid field. She said to herself.
As Tarkin made his way to Kali’s cell, Talbot had his own business to take care of first. Walking into his quarters he found his metal briefcase and opened it up. Carefully he took out the two vials of blood and looked at them. Then he placed them back inside. He just wanted to make sure that they were safe. The blood samples were from both Kasan and Kali and were going to be very valuable to the Imperial scientists. Talbot placed the briefcase back inside the cabinet. But first he had two rebel scums to execute and he was looking forward to that.
When Kali awoke, she let out a small groan and lifted her head from where it laid on her knees. Slowly, she blinked her eyes open. One opened with little difficulty and was just slightly bruised and puffy. Her left eye, however, almost refused to budge. It was practically swollen shut and she could only just crack it open.
She moved slowly and leaned back against the wall. She was still in her detention cell; her hands were still bound behind her back. Clothes still bloody from where she had bled out onto them. She didn't know how much time had passed since Talbot had left.
However, the sound from the engines of the ship, that seemed to hum under Kali, had changed. They were in hyperspace or no longer in hyperspace. This thought made Kali sit up at attention and tug at her binders again. She hissed and almost cried out in pain, and had to stop. They were in hyperspace. And from what she remembered telling Talbot last, on their way to Corellia.
She had to get out. But how? Gavriel and Kyle were still on the ship. Kali couldn't sense them, however. The Force was still untouchable for her. She straightened out her legs and pushed herself to turn to the side, leaning against the other wall. She tilted her head back. There were no more tears now. She had cried herself empty before passing out.
She could only stare at the wall right now. Her time was running short and she had accepted that. What more use could they have for her? She had told them everything, or almost everything she knew. And betrayed everyone she loved while doing it. Gavriel. He would come for her, but at what cost?
She almost started to tear up again at the thought of him, searching the ship, tearing it apart looking for her. She closed her eyes and pressed her lips together to keep from sobbing. She wasn't afraid to die. She was, however, afraid to live without him. She didn't know how she could forgive herself if anything happened to him just because of her... She clenched her fists tight against that last thought and took a deep breath. The next moment, the door to her cell hissed open and Kali looked up, squinting against the new light.
Tarkin stood in the middle of the door. Behind him ten stormtroopers waited for his command. Tarkin lifted his nose as he looked at the bloody mess of humanity in front of him. "It's time for your execution as a rebel spy, Kali. Guards, take the prisoner into custody."
Tarkin moved inside the cell as the stormtroopers followed inside. Two of them picked her off the wall and held her up in front of Tarkin. "Sedate the prisoner for transport."
Kali was injected with another yellow syringe.
"You won't be able to move for a while. But you will be awake when your sentence is carried out."
Kali didn't, or couldn't, resist when the stormtroopers came towards her, and picked her up off of the floor. They held her by her upper arms off of the floor in-between them, in front of Tarkin. Or Tarkin's clone. She lifted her head and looked up at him. She made all of the depression, self-loathing and hatred drain from her face when she looked up. All that remained was her disdain for him and the Imperial troops that held her. She didn't wince when they injected her again. Her eyes held fast to Tarkin's.
"Sounds like fun. Talbot couldn't finish the job, then? You had to come in and clean up after him?" Her voice was low, soft, and she let it drip with her empty sarcasm.
Tarkin ignored her. He had not time for empty threats or sarcasm. He had a trap to lay for Gavriel. Turning around he walked out of the cell followed behind by his stormtroopers and Kali. His two royal guards silently fell in and marched silently next to him. Tarkin looked back at the stormtroopers.
"Turn off your force belts now." He ordered.
The stormtroopers complied with his order. Without the force bubble around Kali, Tarkin knew that Gavriel would be able to sense her and he would be drawn to her like a moth to flame. The trap had been set.
Gavriel stood at the side of the doorway waiting for the presence to enter into the hangar bay. Gavriel hadn't deactivated the felled Stormtroopers Force belts so he was unable to determine what was on the other side. Stepping right into the doorway first appeared the barrel of a Blastech E-11 rifle, followed by the hand and body of an Imperial Officer. Gav took a step back allowing the officer to enter in before delivering a swift roundhouse kick to his midsection doubling the officer over, followed by the pommel of Gav's lightsaber to his head knocking the officer unconscious. Reattaching the hilt to his belt, Gavriel stepped over the Imperial and made his way out.
Gavriel had just cut his way into the ceiling above him, careful to sense for any vital electrical systems he may disrupt, he was satisfied that it was relatively free of such systems. He was planning to allow the cylindrical section fall to the floor which was his only option since the Force had left him, yet before he could bring his blade full circle he felt the Force come back into him. Testing it, he let go of his lightsaber and finished cutting the hole using only the Force to guide the lightsaber. Gavriel smiled as he leapt up into the next level with a Force jump. However with the Force back came the sudden awareness that he could not read Kali's activity patterns, nothing saying she was walking around a cell, only a place where she lay, like a homing beacon Gavriel followed.
Gavriel continued down the hall but suddenly stopped. During their time together Kali and Gavriel had perfected the ability to sense each other's location within a certain radius whether or not one was conscious or unconscious. Right now, his Force awareness told him the turbolifts was where she was. Running as fast as he could, Gavriel noted the turbolift shafts about 100 meters ahead of him. He also noted the forms of several individuals boarding one of the lifts, those several individuals were surrounded by ten armored Stormtroopers. Letting out a yell of rage at seeing Kali's body carried with them, inadvertently let them know he was coming and began dodging blaster bolts fired right at him, even as the last of the troopers fired as the doors to the lift closed.
Tarkin looked for the source of the cry and when he saw Gavriel he smiled inwardly. He pointed at the Jedi and yelled. "Blast him! Don't let him get on this elevator!"
The stormtroopers opened fired even as the doors began to close in front of them. The blaster bolts weren't accurate but were enough to slow down Gavriel advance.
Gavriel reached the "L" section of the hall where it turned to his left to continue further away. Coming down that hall were more Stormtroopers. Gavriel ducked down as a red bolt sizzled overhead. Igniting his blue lightsaber, Gavriel deflected one bolt right back towards the trooper that fired it. Ducking a few more shots, Gavriel yanked a blaster from one Stormtrooper and held it with his left hand and began firing. Within a minute, the fight was over and Gavriel had cut a hole into the turbolift shaft and was following it down.
The elevator came to a stop on the fourteenth level, the sub hangar bay level. Tarkin and his group quickly filed out of the elevator. Tarkin knew that Gavriel would be down shortly, whether it would be by elevator or otherwise. With his two royal guards flanking him and his stormtroopers behind him carrying the unconscious form of Kali, he was in a hurry. His trap required split second timing. Everyone and everything had to be in position. Not bothering to look behind him his group pushed officers and troopers alike out of the way. The doors to the hangar bay opened up to reveal the white Lambda-class shuttle. Several pilots were standing in front and they saluted as Tarkin approached.
Tarkin didn't bother to nod or salute. "Prepare for take off now!" He said angrily as he looked back to the hangar doors.
"Turn on your belts!" He ordered the royal guards and stormtroopers. The stormtroopers followed the orders. But the royal guards remained motionless.
Tarkin glared at them. "I gave you a direct order!"
"We don't need the belts, your Excellency. Our skill and training alone will take care of the Jedi." One of the guards said.
Tarkin nodded. "Very well. Let’s just see how good the both of you really are."
Tarkin turned back to the stormtroopers. "Bring Kali to me. Then take up your positions on either side of the door. That Jedi will be here shortly. I want my welcoming party to be ready for him."
The stormtroopers split up into two groups of five and positioned themselves on either side of the doors. The two royal guards stood in front of Tarkin, waiting. Kali, who had just woken up, was set on her feet next to Tarkin. Her hands still in binders behind her back. She tottered for a minute, but one of the guards caught her before she could fall. Once she recovered, her eyes hit the doors where everyone else was watching, seemingly holding their breath.
"No..." Kali breathed out.
Gav was on the other side of those doors. Fighting his way in. Into what Kali was quickly recognizing as a trap. Where she was the perfect bait.
For a few anxious moments they stood waiting, the doors to the hangar bay were like the last line of defense, but also prevented them from seeing what was coming. It began as a low rumbling, followed by yells and sounds of blaster fire.
Then the rumbling grew louder, with more blaster shots and yells for more reinforcements. Those yells quickly grew terrified or were halted suddenly. The hangar doors then gave off a loud clang and opened slowly. Sparks flew off as they opened completely, revealing the broken form of a stormtrooper who had been thrown against them.
Standing over the trooper was the cloaked form of the Jedi Tarkin spoke of. Both green and blue lightsabers ignited and what could only be described as a war zone behind him. Gavriel stepped over the body in front of him and seemed to walk into the hangar doors. The stormtroopers opened fire but the shots went through Gavriel's body and met the troopers on both sides of the door. Gavriel then vanished and it was then seen that Gavriel had not actually walked through the doors but was just now walking their way.
Even the permlights on the floor and walls were darkened which should have been nigh impossible as Gavriel walked past them. Feeling his anger raising as he saw Tarkin and his two Royal Guardsmen almost twenty meters in front of him. Gavriel began running towards them, lightsabers ignited but slowed momentarily when he felt himself enter into the Force-dampening field.
Gavriel deactivated his lightsabers and held two white oval objects in his hands that began blinking as he jumped through the doorway avoiding more blasterfire and sending the two objects now identified as Stormtrooper-issued thermal detonators towards the rest of the Stormtroopers on either side. The thermal detonators exploded and Gavriel could feel the Force return to him. Ten meters in front of him stood Tarkin and his guardsmen. Gavriel and Tarkin traded glares and Gavriel activated his blue lightsaber.
Tarkin covered his eyes from the explosions. Then he looked at Gav with a stern expression on his face. He moved Kali in front of him like a human shield and gave Gavriel a mocking smile. "You will pay for that. Mark my words, Jedi. But you are here for her, aren't you?"
He nodded to Kali.
"She is a rather beautiful Jedi isn't she? Or should I say was? Too bad Vice-Admiral Talbot got a little carried away with her during the interrogation. But she told us everything... Gavriel Derragon."
Gavriel stood looking right at Tarkin. He could sense the presence of a heart and internal organs within him. It was a clone of Tarkin, it had to be. His eyes then flickered to Kali's face. Bruised up and bloodied as it was Gavriel still saw beauty. "Just give me the girl, and I will let you live. There's been enough death for today and neither of us wants to push me any farther."
"You don't understand yet, do you?" As Tarkin spoke two crimson clad stormtroopers walked out of the shuttle from behind him. They activated their force belts and then pulled out their blaster rifles and pointed them at Kali's head. Kali stiffened. Her eyes hadn't left Gav since he walked into the hanger bay. Now, they were imploring him to leave. Run. Get out of there. Save himself and don't worry about her. She tugged at her binders again as Tarkin spoke.
"The girl is mine. She will serve a bigger purpose to us. You will surrender, or my guards will be forced to take action. I'd rather not get any bloodstains all over my nice clean uniform. Surrender or the girl dies."
Gavriel looked down weighing his options he then looked up at Tarkin. "You don't want to blow her head off; she's to serve a bigger purpose anyway. Just what is it you're after?"
"In due time, Jedi." Tarkin said and then pointed at Gavriel. "Guards seize him!" The two royal guards sprang into action.
Gavriel back flipped away and with another snap-hiss, his green lightsaber was activated. Gavriel blocked a blow from one of the Guards on his right, the left Guard swept his Force Pike downwards to cut Gav's legs out from under him, but Gav jumped up to avoid the blow and brought his blue lightsaber towards the Guards head only to have it miss by centimeters. Gavriel only continued his sweeping motion and brings the lightsaber into the back of the Guard to his right. Twisting away from a sweeping move from the other Guards pike, Gavriel twists away and watches the Guard cautiously. "These guys are either rusty or not the same Guardsmen the Emperor used, Tarkin..."
Tarkin smiled. "There are only getting warmed up, Gavriel. It has been a while since they had a challenge worthy of their skills."
As Tarkin was talking he and his guards began to move slowly towards the hangar doors. The two guards need only to distract Gavriel long enough for him to make his escape. They were after all just pawns in a larger game. But their sacrifices would not be in vain.
The Guards then kept up their strategy of being on both sides of Gavriel and attacked together again. This time Gavriel could only duck as one went high, then roll away with the other Pike just missing his boot. One touch from a Pike was enough to maim someone seriously. The other Guardsman had leapt up with his pike poised to shove through Gav's stomach; Gav in a split second motion had swatted the pike away and with his other lightsaber embedded into the Guard's side. Kicking the dead guard off of him Gavriel stood up and pointed a blade towards Tarkin. "Only one left before it's your turn, clone."
Tarkin reacted swiftly to Gavriel's threat. "I don't think so, Jedi."
A nod and a knife suddenly appeared in one of the stormtroopers hands. He then plunged it directly into Kali's stomach. She had been so busy watching the fight Gavriel was engaged in, she didn't have a chance to react. Her eyes flew open and her mouth opened in a silent scream as blood began to ooze from her wound. Pain, searing pain traveled from where the knife was embedded in her stomach through her body. The stormtroopers shoved her to the side, and then bolted for the door. Kali rolled to the ground, the knife still in her stomach, and fought to gain her knees.
Gavriel saw it and with a moment of unbridled anger, dropped his lightsaber and sent the Force rushing violently outwards. The Stormtrooper's Force belts tried to respond, but Gav's anger overpowered and shorted out the belts.
Dropping both lightsabers Gavriel ran right for Kali's falling body. But the other Royal Guard ran around to block Gavriel from reaching Kali or Tarkin. The door opened as the three men exited the hangar bay. The royal guard raised his force pik and opened his stance.
Gavriel watched as he saw Kali begin to cough up blood. Her life Force was weakening rapidly but Gav's anger rose up faster. With the hatred rising in his eyes, Gavriel stood up, his gaze leveled at the Guardsman, the air itself seemed to be burning with the power of Gavriel's hatred, lifting his hands, blue lightning raced out of his fingertips catching the Guardsman and frying him.
"You will die." Gavriel spoke simply, hatred dripping off of his words as the Red robe of the felled guard begin to turn black and smoke.
Hearing a soft whimper from Kali, Gav's rage dropped, his eyes locked onto Kali's for a moment, enough to stop his hatred and replace it with something else - love and concern.
Gavriel ceased his attack and raced to Kali's side. "Kali . . . Kali . . . hold on!" All Kali could do was look at Gav, fear blatant in her eyes now as she fought for her life. "Gav..." She managed to whisper out.
Gavriel lifted Kali's body up in his arms and carried her into the shuttle. "Force as my witness, Tarkin will suffer for this... Don't worry..."
Using the Force to unlatch the binders from her wrists, he threw them aside before laying her body down. Gavriel knelt besides her using the Force to reach into her body and find the wound, he felt the Force almost seem to want to open the wound further, but Gavriel was in control. He redirected it to begin to heal, promote the healthy cells to grow and stop the bleeding.
"Not much time... Work with me Kali."
Gavriel looked up at the two pilots and using the Force, seized their minds. "Take us to Yavin IV NOW!"
The pilots had no choice but to comply. Manuevering the shuttle out of the hangar bay they quickly flew out to a hyperspace jump point and disappeared.
Kasan stood near the port window in Tarkins office, looking out and watching the battle before stuttering out in complete horror as she realized what was happening as they went into hyperspace. Before she could even think about why, she turned around and looked at the door, hearing the lock on it disengage.
Vice-Admiral Talbot walked inside with a smile of a hungry predator. "I hope that you are enjoying the accomadations."
She sneered, dropped her arms and stared at him, all the hate and fear boiling inside of her. Without missing a beat, with imense amounts of sarcasm, she shot back. "I hope you drop dead."
"Good idea, but you first." Talbot said as he grabbed Kasan by the shoulders and threw her to the floor.
"I will so miss our little chats. But you have to betray everyone and now look where you are at."
Talbot walked around her and then grabbed her by the shoulders again.
"But don't worry. We are going to pay a little visit to jedi dog of a boyfriend. Tonight, I get to kill two birds with one stone."
She tried to kick away from him, struggling against his hands. She loathed him, wanted nothing more then to kill the man. She grunted and said through gritted teeth.
"Let me go you pile of bantha droppings!"
Talbot sneered as he hit her over the head with the side of his fist, knocking her uncouncious.
"Don't worry. When this is all over you will thank me for ending your sad and pathetic life."
With a small flash and a groan, her eyes closed and she welcomed the darkness, thinking it may save her from the sadistic things that Talbot had in his head.
Talbot looked down at her sleeping body. Reaching into pocket he pulled out a belt and attached it around her midsection underneath her jumpsuit. When he was finished he picked her up and threw her over one shoulder. He then left Tarkin's quarters.
Talbot turned off his own force belt and began to walk to the front of the ship. One of the storage rooms there would serve his purposes quite nicely. The jedi dog would come to him and then he would enjoy tearing him apart with his own bare hands. This day was about to get much better.
The storage room that Talbot had selected was empty of all cargo. It had been used for storing barrels of foodstuffs and other perishables. But Talbot had ordered everything to be moved to another storage room. He knew what Tarkin was up to and he wanted his own piece of the action.
He lay Kasan's body against the back wall of the room and turned to wait for the jedi dog. Everything was ready. The stage was set. All the players were on the board except for one.
For apparently no reason at all, Kyle could sense Kasan a lot better than he had during the whole time he came aboard the Darkness. However, the Force had yet to return to him, so Kyle had to continue relying upon stealth and guile, which had been his ally thus far, to find his way to Kasan. She was nearby, Kyle could tell, and he followed his senses like a proton torpedo that had a lock on against its target. Kyle would get her back, no matter what. Stormtroopers were coming to stop him, knowing that he was coming. He engaged in a quick firefight with them, taking them down as quickly as he could with his Blastech E-11 Blaster Rifle. This wasn't his way of doing things as a Jedi, but circumstances had left him with no other option.
Kyle kept moving towards where Kasan's location was as he had sensed through the Force. The same drive which drove his grandfather to decimate the Separatist droid army on Kashyyysk during the Clone Wars now coursed strongly through Kyle as he kept going. However, firefights with Stormtroopers were getting easier and less frequent, as if he was being invited to get Kasan back. Kyle found his way as he stood in front of a door leading a storage room where he was sure Kasan was held. He took his lightsaber and ignited the orange blade and cut the door open. As soon as the oval-shaped piece of the durasteel dropped upon the floor with a metallic bang, Kyle walked in slowly.
Upon entering the room, Kyle's eyes had spotted Kasan's body being laid against the back wall of the room. As soon as that happened, Kyle's eyes were fixed upon an Imperial officer who he recognized as Talbot. His eyes began to narrow as a show of rage while he stared at Talbot.
"You...." he growled angrily, mustering all the rage he could.
A fiery explosion expanded outwards as a once enemy TIE blew to nothing. The star fighter Black Corona had no choice but to rock through the cloud of fire and debris. Mahtan closed his eyes as the ship jolted through and the bright flames illuminated the cock-pit and canopy.
"Damn... rough riding." Pulling through the flames he quickly put the V-19 into a rightward spin. He noted that his shields were beginning to get on the low side. he wasn't sure how much longer his ship would hold-out. But a job needed to be done and that's what he was here to do.
Another explosion erupted, this time only slightly rocking his ship. The battle was almost insane at this point. Star destroyers, friend and foe, where duking it out just above the jungles of Yavin IV. Mahtan had just decided to stay clear of that mess.
But suddenly tides changed as one destroyer pile-drived itself into another. Watching it unfold Mahtan didn't know what to think. He couldn't tell which one was friendly or if either were but more likely than not, one was.
At a second note he saw another star destroyer, undoubtly an enemy, fall flaming due to republic fighters. Cheers went up all around over the coms, and soon the second battle for Yavin was over.
The hangers of the Yavin IV temples bustled with all sorts of emotions. Cheering for victory, crying for lost comrades, silence for the sake of silence. As well as emotions, ships flooded the area as well. Beaten and battered many awaited their turn for repairs.
Flying in slow Mahtan pulled the Black Corona around to set it down outside of the temples where there was room. Folding the airfoils the old V-19 Torrent sat softly on the grassy carpet of the moon.
The canopy opened with a hiss as Mahtan stood up. Carefully placing his head set down on the seat he jumped out onto the surrounding ground. Landing with his knees slightly bent he once again stood straight up and took a moment to breath the air around. He noted his lightsaber still in place on his right and his heavy blaster pistol at his left, both hidden under his long robe-like coat. Yeah he knew it was unconventional to care a blaster, being a Jedi and all, but new times called for new measures in defense. Besides he had developed at technique with it and his lightsaber that he enjoyed using.
Mahtan hadn't said much for awhile and didn't as he made his way into the temple. There were still things that had yet to be taken care of and as most knew, had to be done soon.
