Navrae looked up at the sky. Only a few minutes earlier he would have seen clear blue, perhaps a few lazy clouds wandering across to give a different color here and there. He would have seen the other planets of the Yavin system staring down at him and felt awe at their size and presence in the Force. But now...Now he saw the towering form of the Eclipse-class Star Destroyer. He could see the fire trails left by ships as they were shot from the sky and vaporised. He hoped that none of those he considered friends were those balls of gas and metal. Flashes between the ships told him of the struggle the Jedi were putting to protect the planet. And he wished he was up there with them.
He sighed and flicked a lekku back over his shoulder. He wasn't a fighter pilot. His ship was more outfitted for speed and escapes. The weapons were more highly powered than the originals but that was for last resort only. Inside he knew he was peaceful, he let anger and rage wash out of him like water, but that wasn't the only reason he couldn't be a fighter pilot. He other reason was that he was terrible with aim. He probably couldn't hit a kimogila from 10 feet away. The thought brought a smile to his face and slight envy, but the envy was swalled in a second by his calm thoughts. The Force had given him a different purpose from being a good pilot.
His sight moved back down and he sighed, a warmth filling the air as he slid on his lightsaber. The blue beam of focused energy waved loose for a moment before coming up in a ready stance. Swiftly, he took up Soresu, the most classic stance, his moves balanced to provide maximum defence will offering the possibility of maximum offence. Three training droids awoke and began a steady rain of fire upon him, but with soresu he was nearly invincible to the blasts. After a few moments of blocking he switched to the more aggressive vaapad and slid forward. Two swift slices later and one of the training bots was down. He switched to soresu again and repeated the process.
The 'bots were down. Each one had two lightsaber scores across it. Navraes eyes once again turned to the above battle. Come on...
The battle above Yavin IV had already begun to heat up as the Black Corona exited the atmosphere and entered that of outer space. Explosions here and there was about all Mahtan could see as of yet. And the Eclipse Class Star Destroyer was maybe a faint outline of the forward hull at best. No defined shape could be made out from his location. But as his distance from the battle faded and he and his ship moved closer to the fray he caught a transmission of fighter pilots above talking about the TIEs that made up the opposition.
"Attention Green Group, these are the Mk II Interceptors, try not to rely on shields as much as speed to avoid enemy fire."
‘Hmm I’ll remember that.’ Taking the message as a mental note Mahtan increased the power to his shields about an extra 40%. After raising his shields the blaster cannons and concussion missiles were next on the check list. While preparing both for action he had noticed a few stray laser shots shoot past him. He doubt that they were actually aimed at him as he was still a good enough distance away to not be the top contestant on some TIE’s list. But also the flat black paint job allowed Mahtan and the Black Corona to blend easily with the dark back-drop of space.
Ready for a battle Mahtan increased his speed to head into the fray sooner. “Lets try and pick one or two off before they really know I’m here.” Seeing an off set TIE emerge from the cloud of lasers and starfighters Mahtan quickly chose it to be his first take-down of the day.
Speeding up to shorten the distance between the two craft Mahtan slowly brought his vehicle into line with the TIE. The TIE hadn’t seemed to notice as it swooped back up towards the big battle. Mahtan was still a good distance away but was in ranger for the use of concussion missiles, which was of course his first plan of attack. As the TIE swooped up Mahtan gave chase readying missile at the same time. Following the same path of the TIE as best he could Mahtan lined up his sights and lock on with the concussion missile. Allowing a brief moment to pass Mahtan hit the button to let the missile fly. The missile shot out of the under-belly of the V-19 Torrent. Mahtan watched is as it disappeared into the vastness. Only a second later it seemed to reemerge on the right side of the TIE’s spherical cockpit. With a simple explosion the TIE’s right solar panel blew off causing the rest of the craft to erupt.
“Score one,” He said to himself, “let’s see if we can’t make it a few more.” With that said Mahtan quickly readied his laser to fire and turned the Black Corona to a hard right and slightly up to soon bring himself into the heat of battle.
The Black Corona weaved in and out of cross fire from the mass of swarming TIEs. Barrel rolling to the left and swooping down and a soft frontal arc Mahtan brought himself behind that of two TIEs in a tower formation. Following their movements he quickly brought himself to a ready-to-fire position of the bottom of the two TIEs. Just before the shot was fired a laser bolt rocked the ship. Luckily it had only struck the back side of one of the airfoils. Nothing too bad.
“Man, I’m going have to watch it more.” Finding the pair of TIEs he had been following he curved around an incoming X-Wing to place himself insight of the TIEs. Aiming carefully he relaxed himself and used the Force to help guide him. All three ships were moving on a curve which made the shot a little more difficult. With his mind in the right place and the reticule on the spot Mahtan fired. The blaster cannons fired its red streaks in a quick, alternating fashion, two bolts from each. Not barely moment later than did the reticule drift up slightly than did more bolts fly towards the above TIE. Both exploded, one right after the other.
Letting out a sigh Mahtan thrusted the V-19 forward to sweep back around, giving himself some clearance from other fighters.
Suddenly his com blared on. "This is Grand Admiral Gilad Pellaeon of the Star Destroyer Chimaera Representing the Imperial Remnant. Jedi Academy, we are here to offer our assistance. Please turn your radar channels to Frequency Two-Zero-One. Our TIE Fighters are here strictly for the Eclipse Star Destroyer and will assist you."
‘Ha! That’s a barrel of good news.’ Mahtan mused.
"All groups, you heard the man. Turn your radar channels to Two-Zero-One, we don't want to seem ungrateful to our esteemed guest. I repeat, no one shoot at Pellaeon's fighters, this radar channel will mark his boys as allies."
Quickly tuning his radar to the instructed channel of 2-0-1, a slight pause came across the radar screen followed by a mass of new, allied, dots on the far side. ‘Well its good thing but it still may be confusing, just have to be extra careful.’ As the adjustments were done Mahtan quickly looked around his position. Being clear for the moment he thrusted himself through the middle of the fray. Dodging laser blots, red and green, and zipping by TIEs and the like the V-19 made its move on a new victim. The TIE was singled out from the surround mess by Mahtan’s thoughts only. He focused on it, sped up, thrusted right, and flew straight by the selected TIE. That was the idea of course, unfortunately the TIE had unleashed some fire that struck the Black Corona’s left side. His shields were still reading fairly well and hadn’t mind getting hit as he knew it was going to happen.. As he passed the TIE he swooped a hard left to come up behind the TIE. As he began to focus on his shot another voice came over the com.
"Attention rebel forces, you are hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned. Surrender now or else I will be forced to execute someone that you may know."
It was obviously coming from the Eclipse Star Destroyer.
"If you do not want to see her die, then you will lay down your arms immediately and be prepared to be boarded by my forces. You have twenty minutes before her sentance as a traitor to the Empire is carried out."
As the transmission cut out Mahtan noticed he had lost the TIE he had been trailing. ‘Damn.’ Pulling up he brought his craft back out to a safety distance, for now. Till the transmission came, Mahtan hadn’t thought about the giant star destroyer that had been looming all around him this whole time. As he glanced around out side the canopy he finally saw the massive vessel to his left. His eyes widened. ‘Were the hell does something like that come from!?’ As he peered down the length of the ship as far as he could see, he noted the location of the super-laser in the front. It was like a lid-less eye just waiting to strike down what it saw below, Yavin IV.
Mahtan’s attention was diverted to his radar as it beeped, a horde of incoming fighters was showing up. Just before letting out a gasp of surprise he realized it was the TIEs from the friendly, normal, star destroyer that had came. Letting out a breath he turned his fighter around to be ready to flow with traffic of the incoming allied TIEs.
The spy Orun was chasing was fast. Too fast for a human to possible run. Even using the Force as his aid, Orun was hard pressed to match the intruder's speed. It wasn't until the spy turned a corner of boulders and disappeared that Orun had enough. Whoever the intruder was had gotten away.
Orun reached out with the Force hoping he could sense the other's presence. He could not. It was as if somehow the Force was being blocked or muted in this area. Orun no longer felt the presence of the forest life. No birds. Nothing. He reached out and tried to communicate with the other Jedi back at the Academy. No luck.
It was then that a sound came from behind him. Orun spun and saw the spy several feet away. His hand carried a deadly looking blaster pistol.
Orun did not sense the attack coming. His own reflexes kicked in as the spy fired two shots at Orun. The Jedi dove to the ground, the blaster fire passing harmlessly above him. Why could he not sense the attack? Orun stood, and the spy, now kneeling behind a large boulder, fired again.
Orun tried blocking with his lightsaber. Without the Force guiding him, it was useless. The first shot was deflected but the second shot managed to slam into Orun's right shoulder sending him sprawling to the ground. The burning pain was intense and Orun felt his flesh around the wound flake off and die. The Force was not there. Orun felt abandoned and alone. He couldn't even heal himself.
Get up! Get up!
Orun stood, his left hand gripping his lightsaber. The spy kept his blaster trained on the Jedi. He stepped out from behind his cover and approached Orun slowly.
"Don't move Jedi," said the spy. "Your powers are useless here. Drop your lightsaber. Now."
Orun stared at the attacker. He was tall and lean, his face concealed behind a metallic mask. He spoke through some kind of voice box that masked his true voice and only an electronic sound could be heard. He wore tight fitting black clothing and his blaster was one of many makes and models seen throughout the galaxy nowadays.
"Who are you?" Orun asked. He released the lightsaber blade and held it.
"My name is unimportant," said the spy. "I will be well paid for finding you and your friends. Don't bother using your fancy Jedi tricks. You and I are on equal ground now." The spy glanced upwards into the trees.
Orun followed his gaze. He saw several long furry creatures attached to the tree limbs above. They were only a few feet long and they moved slowly and deliberately eating the leaves and bark. Everywhere all around him, Orun saw the creatures. They looked vaguely familiar...they were not native to Yavin. In fact, the tree branches they were feeding off of were not native Yavin fauna either.
The spy nodded at Orun's sudden understanding. The Jedi now knew why the Force was not with him. Those creatures were ysalamiri! The strange beasts from the planey Myrkyr had the ability to "push back" the Force. Around an ysalamiri, the Force did not exist. Orun always found the creatures fascinating when he read about them in the Academy database but never thought he would actually see one up close. Well, now was his chance, but Orun certainly wished to study the creatures under better circumstances.
"Now that my job is done, I will get paid with a bonus," the spy said. He aimed his blaster at Orun's head. "Being a Jedi killer will most certainly up my reputation in the field now."
"How did these ysalamiri get here on Yavin?" Orun asked. "Who do you work for?"
The spy didn't answer. Without the Force, there was no chance of dodging a blaster bolt. Orun bent to the ground and placed his lightsaber down. As he stood back up, his hand brushed a small tracking device under his belt. The beacon activated. Orun's only hope was to keep this intruder distracted while hopefully someone back at the Academy would pick up on his distress signal...
Because it's an order." The storm trooper stares at Crukai with a smile, "Isn't that enough?"
Crukai loosens his grip on the troopers arm as he shakes his head, "You'll die... and face it, the Imperials are defeated. We could..."
The trooper pulls his arm free of Crukai's grip, "You think we should become deserters?"
Crukai nods, "If it means that we live, why not?" He leans forward and whispers, "We could hide out on Tattoine till the war settles down." He grins, "We could go into the pod racing business. I build them, you race them. Albart, come on..."
Albart remains silent before taking up his storm troopers helmet, "...Go by yourself."
Crukai stares at Albart with quivering eyes, his face knots up in anger, "WHY? What reason do you have for serving this sinking ship? Do you want to die?"
Albart glances back, "...Maybe..."
Crukai remains silent, "What... are you talking about?"
Albart snears, "What would a tech like you know? You never experienced the battlefield. Never looked out for the man next to you... you never fired a blaster into a crowd of un-armed people... You don't know what I've done... I can never go back."
Crukai shakes his head, "You were forced into the Imperial service, none of that was your choice!"
Albart glares at Crukai and shouts, "There was always a choice! My life or theirs, that was the choice! I chose to kill hundred of innocent people, not for the empire, for myself... it was all hard at one time... but you know, after you kill the first dozen, it gets easier. You stop to feel..." He forces a half hearted laugh, "I just learned to stop caring, 'bout anything... anyone... You can't save me from this war." He slowly puts his helmet on, "I'm already a casualty, and in a way... I think I'd rather have it that way. For the things I've done, it doesn't matter how many people were to forgive me, I could never live with myself."
Crukai grows silent as he stares at the floor, "Albart..."
Albart tosses a data-pad to Crukai, "All my credit are in that account, get yourself out of here. Go to where ever you want... your hands are clean of blood. I envy you." He walks toward the door and pauses before leaving, "Take care of yourself, okay?"
Crukai glances up, a tear rolling down the side of his face, "You too..."
"Albart... wait...." Crukai mummers to himself before opening his eyes and taking in a gasp of air. His star ship had crash landed and there was debris all over his window. Smoke was rising from inside his cockpit, there was a fire somewhere in the engine. Crukai places his hand to his face as he moans in pain, "Argh..." He pulls his hand back to find blood covering his hand, "Tch, great..." He slides back in his seat and uses his legs to kick open the cockpit.
After several kicks, the cockpit cracks open and Crukai manages to pull himself out of the ship. He rolls off the side of the ship and falls to the ground with a thump, "Argh." He moans before pulling himself up slowing.
The area of the crash was a jungle, lots of trees and vines were hung all about, now that Crukai noticed it, it appeared that he was quite lucky to have avoided colliding with one of Yavin's great tree's.
The X-wing that Crukai had helped into orbit had crashed into a field a few meters from where Crukai had crashed. It was still smoldering as it's nose was dug into the soil of the planet. It's wing were nearly torn off and sparks popped from the several exposed wires.
Crukai approaches the downed X-wing, limping and holding his bleeding arm. One eye was bruised shut and blood was streaming down his face from several cuts along his forehead. Crukai reaches the side of the X-wing and glances into the cockpit, the pilot was unconcious, "Great..." He whispers to himself when a beeping and whine catches his attention. Crukai glances to the top of the ship to see an R2 unit fixed into the x-wing. He speaks to it, "Hey, you think you can open the cockpit?"
The R2 unit beeps several times, "Beep boop bep beep beep boooopppp."
Crukai replies, "What about the blasters?"
The R2 Unit whirls its head back and forth, "Beep bep beep booop."
Crukai snickers, "I've got a plan, just fire the blasters once and we'll see if we can unhenge the cockpits from the ground." Crukai walks back several feet before tossing his hand at the R2, "Fire!"
The R2 unit beeps several times as it tries to access the blasters, but recieves a powerful electrical shock, "WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" It beeps a few times as smoke rises from its core.
Crukai grins, "Must have shorted out the weapon system in the crash, this just gets worse..." He glances around before finding a big stick, "Oh well, time to do things the old fashion way."
The R2 unit beeps as it watches Crukai beat on the cockpit window with a branch.
Crukai glares at the R2 unit before waving the stick at it, "One more comment about my method and you'll get it too."
The R2 unit replies in a low beep, "Wooooooo...."
Crukai turns around and prepares to strike the cockpit one more time when a bright light emerges from inside. Crukai steps back as he watches the beam rip through the cockpit latch with ease. With in a matter of moments, the latch flies off and the pilot slowly pulls himself out of his seat and falls to the ground. Crukai kneels next to him and asks, "Can you walk?"
The pilot pulls off his helmet to reveal long, blonde locks of hair that fall to her face, it was a woman, "I believe so..." She whispers.
Crukai nods, "Good, because I'm not exactly capable of carrying someone." He smiles, "Besides, that'd cost extra."
The woman stands up and leans against the x-wing, she lets out a long sigh, "You must be a mercinary of some sort, how... convienient that you'd show up during a battle." She stares at Crukai with suspicious eyes.
Crukai grins, "Mercinary? Now that's a cold label, I'm actually an employee of the Vandalis corporation. We're basically, a company that deals with security. My coming here wasn't supposed to involve business, but as you can see..." He points toward his damaged ship, "I expect to be refunded for my involvement."
The Jedi glances toward the R2 Unit, "R2, are you alright?" She asks.
The R2 beeps and whines a for a few moments.
The Jedi woman smiles, "Thank the force..." She whispers before turning her attention back to Crukai, "I need to get to the academy as quickly as possible."
Crukai blinks several times before asking, "Do what?"
The Jedi continues speaking, ignoring Crukai's remark, "The battle is intense and we need every pilot up there, there isn't any time to spare."
Crukai stares at the woman as though she were insane, "You're in hardly the condition to even walk, yet to plan to return to battle? Are you insane?"
The Jedi stands up in a stout and proud manner, "I AM a Jedi, we aren't so fragil." She takes a few steps foward before falling face first into the ground, she faints.
Crukai glances at the woman then back toward her droid, "Is she always like this?"
The young man merely gaped in shock as the announcement came over the comm. He had come all this way to learn of the supposed peace and tranquility of the Jedi, and he was immediately confronted with battle. Keyan glanced around as the Jedi raced for the hangers. Apparently they were all amazing pilots. Interesting. But then the names caught up with him.
Tarkin...Daala....finally I can get my revenge.
He turned and ran for the exit. The green field ahead of him was almost empty, starfighters making for the distant battle overhead. X-Wings mainly, a few other crafts were mixed, like Gavriel's TIE. Keyan skidded into his ship and lept into the pilots chair. He screamed orders throughout the ship, getting the droids to power up and calibrate the weaponry. He engaged the repulsorlifts, and drifted off the ground. The thrusters kicked in and the Far Runner soared for space.
The giant Super Star Destroyer came into view, bristling with turbolasers and ion cannons. TIE Fighters, Interceptors and Bombers swarmed around it, like a nest of angry hornets. Republic starfighters flitted around, racking up outrageous kill scores in the target heavy environment. Keyan merely shook his head and flipped on the IFF transponder, identifying him as an ally. Now he could only hope the Jedi relied on sesor data and not visual. Wearing a danger-loving grin, the pilot plunged towards the enemies, the people he had vowed to kill once he learned what "Imperial" meant.
Talbot stood in front of the massive doors to hangar bay twenty-five. Twenty stormtroopers were already waiting for him before he arrived. They had assumed their door breach positions on either of the hangar's doors.
"Report, Captain." Talbot asked the stormtrooper captain.
The captain gave a quick salute that Talbot returned.
"Sir, we have visual confirmation of one jedi female. According the cameras inside she is currently in the middle of the hangar next to her X-wing. We have a video right here that you can look at." The captain pointed to a small video screen to the left of the hangar door.
Talbot nodded and walked up to it. Two stormtroopers quicklly moved out of his way. Talbot studied the image of the female jedi very carefully. She looked very young, barely out of her teens. She had red hair that looked long and very much like Daala's hair. Talbot could only imagine running his fingers through that mane of hair and taking his trophy. She was wearing a normal deep blue and white flight suit and held her unlight lightsaber in front of her. Her back was to her fighter and she was clearly spoiling for a fight.
You will be very disappointed, my little jedi dog. Talbot thought to himself as he straigtened back up and turned to face the stormtroopers.
"Turn on your belts and set your rifles to stun. She is to be captured alive at all costs."
The ten stormtroopers with the Force belts turned them on with a flick of the switch in back of the belt. Quickly they moved to either side of the doors and readied themselves for the attack. Talbot moved back to the video screen so he could watch. The captain took out a flash grenade and motioned to the stormtrooper next to the door controls. The stormtrooper opened the doors just enough to through the smoke grenade inside. As soon as it hit the floor inside the hangar it went off with a bright flash of light. Talbot covered his eyes to prevent them from being blinded. The stormtroopers immediatly rushed in. Spreading themselves abreast so they would have a clear line of sight, they pointed their rifles pointed straight at Kali.
"Freeze, rebel scum." The captain said as Talbot walked in behind with with his own rifle pointed at Kali.
Kali had instinctively ducked and covered as soon as the flash grenade was thrown in. She crouched down, closing her eyes and turning her head from the blast. At that range, however, it still momentarily blinded her. The smoke was almost worse, though.
She coughed and rose, igniting her lightsaber and holding it at the ready. She could hear the click and clack of Stormtrooper armor as they surrounded her. She tried to reach out with the Force, to heal her eyes more quickly, and to sense what was around her. But only to find that it wasn't there.
Like someone had covered that part of her with a wet blanket, smothering the fire. She paniced momentarily, gasping softly, just a quick intake of breath. She quickly composed herself however, blinking quickly to gain her vision. It cleared enough that she could see a man, obviously an officer walking in with his blaster raised at her. Bright dots still floated across her vision.
"You like that, jedi dog?" Talbot's voice cut through the fog and smoke that clouded her vision.
"Not so impressive without the Force are you? Welcome back to reality... once again a mere mortal like the rest of us." Talbot said with a mocking tone.
Once Kali's vision recovered a bit more, she half-lowered her lightsaber, taking a look at the numbers. Her eyes moved back to Talbot and she raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, really impressive trick... You have to blind a woman to defeat her."
Talbot just fired his rifle at her. The blue stun blast hit and she crumpled into a heap on the floor. Talbot walked over to her prone body and stared at her. Reaching down he picked up her lightsaber and looked at it. He smiled as he caressed the shiny hilt.
"Your little rescue mission ends here. But don't worry jedi dog, you haven't seen all of my tricks yet."
He pointed to her as he looked back at the stormtroopers. "Take her to the main holding cell and prepare her for interogation."
"Sir, what about her starfighter?" The captain asked as two stormtroopers came forward and picked Kali off the ground.
Talbot shrugged. "Blow it out the airlock. She won't be needing it anymore."
"Yes, sir!" The captain said with a salute. Talbot returned the salute and followed the stormtroopers carrying Kali. Once the hangar bay was clear of personel the stormtrooper captain turned back and activated his commlink with the hangar control.
"This CG421, open hangar bay twenty-five." Turning back to the video monitor he watched as the hangar bays shields disappeared. The whole hangar decompressed and blew the X-wing out into space.
Another job well done, he thought to himself.
Talbot turned to watch the X-wing disappear as well. Another smile came across his face. The jedi woman wouldn't be able to escape now. She was trapped and she was all his.
"Good job, captain." He said and began to walk towards the main holding cell.
CG421 nodded. "Thank you, sir."

"Beep boop bep beep." The R2 unit turns it's visors all about.
The Jedi woman was laying against a tree, still unconcious as Crukai cleans out both of their ships for any supplies. He glances toward the R2 unit and asks, "How far are we from the academy?"
The machine beeps several times.
Crukai grins, "That's just great... Is there anything else you'd like to tell me?"
The R2 unit beeps wildly as it reveals all sorts of information about their position. Crukai sighs as he motions for the little droid to shut up, "Alright, alright... I get it."
Crukai piles all of the equipment he finds between the two ships into a single spot and kneels down to survey what they had to work on, "Let's see... medical supplies, rations, flashlights, and some rope." He sighs, "A blaster would have been nice." He sighs as he glances about before noticing a strange device in the Jedi's hand. It was that same odd device that Luke was wearing...
Crukai slowly stands up and quietly tip-toes toward the Jedi. Her eyes were closed as she layed in a slump. Crukai kneels before her and extends his hand out, slowly inching forward.
The R2 unit beeps and wails as it finds its self caught in some vines.
The Jedi woman flinches from all the noise the droid makes and Crukai glares back as the droid and places one finger to his lips, "Shhhhh..." He turns his head back around and continues to reach for the lightsaber. His fingers press against the side of the lightsaber when the womans voice startles him, "Don't play with... that..." She says in a weak voice.
Crukai backs away and coughs, "Hmph, you feeling better?"
The Jedi slowly leans foward and rubs her head, "If you mean like I've been run over by a herd of Bantha, then yeah... I feel great." He coughs a few times.
Crukai reaches down and picks up a medical supply box, he walks toward the Jedi and sets it down next to her, "Should be some pain killers or something in there."
The Jedi shoves the box away, "I don't like pills... they hender my force connection. Makes it hard to concentrate." She breaths heavily for a few moments before pushing herself up and giving Crukai a calm gaze, "My name is Aina Sandstalker, you are?"
Crukai grins, "Crukai Valdor, I'm sure the pleasure should be all yours."
Aina smirks, "Oh?"
Crukai grins, "Yeah, if it wasn't for you, I'd be long gone by now."
Aina glances at Crukai more sincerely, "Nothing happens out of chance, the force brought you here, but none the less..." She faintly smiles, "You saved my life, thank you."
Crukai sighs, "The force huh? What's with this force you Jedi keep talking about?"
Aina winces in pain as she steps foward, "The Force is an expansive subject that could take a life time to explain, we don't have the time for this. We must get to the academy." She see's the empty stare in Crukai's eyes, she could recognize that look anywhere... the Force was something that drove him, yet he had no idea what it was, he was a lost soul looking for answers. She sighs, "The Force..."
Crukai glances at Aina more intently, "What is it exactly?"
Aina pauses as she tires to put it into words, "It is... everything and nothing. It surrounds us, guides us, yet we don't exactly see it. In fact, most people don't even realise that it exists, but some... a few people can sense it. It feels like..."
Crukai quietly speaks, "Waves, like waves that strike with strength, but receed before you can catch and ride them..."
Aina glances at Crukai calmly, "That is the fate of a force sensitive who never recieves formal training. You can never fully harness your gift, so the force tortures you with it's touch that can never quite be held."
Crukai remains silent, she had somehow managed to hit what the felt right on the head, "This Luke, he said he could help me."
Aina strokes her chin, "The fact that you are here, is the will of the force..." She closes her eyes as she concentrates, "The fact that you got here when you did, Master Luke must have known... The force is at work here." She shakes her head, "Never the less, this is not the time or place for contemplation, we must get to the academy with haste."
Making a break back to the battle, Gabriel's fighter only suffered near missed shots that seered the armour of the fighter. When he returned to the fight, he saw that Pellaeton's TIEs had started to get involved with the dogfight,
"Now here's a sight I never thought I would see."
Gabriel then got back into the fight, altering his radar frequency accodingly to differ which group of TIEs he should shoot at, once he determing which fighters he could & couldn't shoot, Gabriel went back to work, thinking to himself, 'I'd prefer this to that near suicide run I tried. I should have guessed an Eclipse wasn't like any ordinary Super Star Destroyer.'
Getting back into the swing of the dogfight situation, Gabriel was able to shoot down the Eclipse fighters with little trouble or tailage from the enemy fighters. Seeing another fighter in distress, Gabriel decided to give a hand, tailign the persuing fighter & locked on a proton Torpedo, firing it at the fighter & blowing it into atoms.
After the fighter was free, Gabriel pulled along side, saying into the comm. unit in his helemt,
"Looks like you could use a Wingman. I'll stick close as much as possible."
Which is what he did, keeping with the A-wing he jsut helped out for the most part.
YRAGGGGHHHHHH! ......... opps Adepti power flare........ wont happen again master....
The frieghter which Tae was in was struck, something hit it a blue bolt from the large mysterious ship. The whole time before, this frieghters defense network had been perfect and from the pilots it had been assumed that it was an 'Ion beam' what ever it was Tae had no idea.
During the past, Adepti had been subjected to some racism, mostly because of their technical illegitimacy. He made an oath to what ever spirit or power above that he'd learn about this technolog to the point where he'd be able to fly one of these things.
Something began towing the ship towards it like a trawler, a few other ships were also struck.
Tae's eyes narrowed, the fires within his being began to grow, licking within him ignighting a very dangerous and despised emotion by the Jedi. It was hate and it burned. Emotions were encouraged by the adepti to some extent, pain lanced across the back of his skull, this always happened when his powers dared to flare to life for a period of time.
Tae's powers because of their varying strength they could be contained or thrown back by any use of the force. With a swift spasm of his kneck muscles his head snapped to the window of the ship as a tie fighter passed. The Jedi within saw his eyes glow a faint blue, it was faint like breaking light.
The Ship imploded, then from the compression exploded, this happened consecutivly, three more ties followed each one being crushed by an unseen force. Tae's pain increased and the power burned away, a hand was felt upon his shoulder. Accompanied by one word, the same mind trick from a Jedi Tae had no control over his powers thus it worked.
Tae slumped and fell into what appeared to be a small nap. Any question into what occured was felt in the force like a sucking of force, like elastic then being allowed to snap back. Tae couldand would be unable to this power at will, an Adepti of his skill had no control, it was either there or it wasn't. The trigger was hidden from Tae.
The reason was because of his inability to find calm.
In the sleep from the jedi mind trick he found it for a time, there was inner peace for a time and he knew should he open his eyes or come back to the world or mortals that inner chaos would be waiting for him. The fires in Taes body faded away, already should Tae be trained master Luke would know to have caution as his first priority.
Tae was going to have one hell of a migrane when he awoke also.
The Stormtroopers shoved Kasan into Tarkin's private chamber's none to gently as they had been ordered. She stummbled forward, catching herself on a chair so she didn't meet witht he floor with her face. Looking back, she had just enough time to see the door shut and to her dismay she heard a small snapping noise, signifying the guards had locked her inside. Sighing hard, she bit the inside of her lip and wondered why it had been Tarkin's quarter's and not Talbots. She despised both men, but Talbot more so. She figured anywhere but in his hands was better. Looking around, she noticed there was very little in the room, aside from the chair she'd caught herself on and the chair she assumed was Tarkin's on the other side of the desk. There were pictures on the walls and the desk. There was two other doors, one she figured probably went to the bathroom and the other to his bedroom. She let out a breath and walked around the room, looking at the pictures on the walls, noticing that Tarkin didn't smile in any of the ones with him in them. Not even the one with the woman she knew was his wife. She looked up, above the desk, behind his chair and shivered suddenly. Crossing her arms in the front of her bare stomach, she couldn't tear her eyes from the faces, or lack thereof, of The Emperor and Vader.
She swallowed and pulled her eyes away, catching sight of a mirror near one of the doors. Walking over, she stopped and looked at herself, shaking her head at how horrid she looked. Her face, arms and knees had bruises on them from the abuse she'd been dealt by Talbot. She ran a finger on the one on her cheek bone, just above her jawline. She set her teeth and wondered who the Jedi they had was. She really only knew three of the women... Mara wouldn't have been caught... She'd be under the same punishment as Kasan was. Jaina Solo probably wouldn't leave her brother's side, the two of them making an un-stoppable unit... Which left... Kali Tal'set. She made a noise in her throat and turned from the mirror and looked back towards the desk, seeing a window there. Going over, she looked out, watching the beams from the guns flash by and the occasional ship going down in flames. A silent cheer went through her mind and she smiled when one of the Imperial TIE's went down in a bright ball of flame. She only turned from the window when she heard the lock behind her dis-engage...
...:::Gavriel kept his grip firm on the handle of his lightsaber as he rotated it slowly in his hands. He was knelt down beside the door to the hangar bay steadily working to weaken the area around the blade, allowing the heated and melting durasteel to spread out. Standing on the other side of the hangar door was Kyle, his lightsaber was also plunged into the door about a meter above Gavriel's. Gav would then work his blade up in a half-circle while Kyle worked his blade downward in another half-circle.. Gav looks up at Kyle and nods. "Bring it down." "Gotcha, Gav." Kyle nodded as he saw Gavriel begin to bring his lightsaber upwards in a half circle. The idea was for Kyle to move his lightsaber downwards from above to cut a full circular passage through the durasteel doors of the hangar. Kyle's knuckles were whitening from holding the hilt of his lightsaber while it melted through the durasteel. Slowly, Kyle brought down his lightsaber to help Gavriel complete the circular pattern. From the hole Gavriel had cut, he could see the hall on the otherside lit with vertical permlights. Gav then heard a filtered voice, likely coming from a Stormtrooper helmet say "They're still coming through! Close the blast doors!" Then the permlight panels seemed to go dark and suddenly the lightsaber got even harder to bring upwards. Gav looked to Kyle and gave him another nod. He could almost sense what was next if they really wanted to get rid of them both."Cut faster and get ready to hang onto something!!" Having been inside a hangar bay of a ship often during his younger and more rough-'n'-tumble days in the Rebellion, Kyle knew what it meant when the blast doors were going to close. So he knew the imminent danger when he heard the Stormtrooper ordered to close the blast doors. Kyle saw the permlight panels darken and could feel even more resistance to his lightsaber as he did his best to bring it downwards. Nodding to Gavriel, Kyle cut faster and harder. "Sithspawn, they aren't playing around. This is bad." Kyle commented as he kept on cutting, applying more strength for his two arms against his lightsaber's hilt. Kyle was cutting as fast as he could, while thinking about what to grab onto.:::...
...:::No sooner had the circular piece of the hangar bay door fallen free from it's place with a lound clang, then a slightly less audible popping sound was heard. Gav had just enough time to glance at Kyle and lock down the fingers of his mechanical hand around the glowing, hot reaminder of the hangar door. He could feel his body being pulled towards the vacuum that pulled from the now disengaged airlock and his eyes searched desperately for the emergency reactivation switch. Kyle's smile was immediately wiped off his face even as he and Gavriel had managed to cut through that hangar door. For a nearly silent popping sound was heard which signalled the depressurization of the hangar bay. Kyle saw Gavriel grabbing the hot remainder of the hangar door with his mechanical hand. Unfortunately, Kyle still had his original hands which would be unable to stand up to the heat of the hangar door's melted edges. Kyle could feel the vaccum pulling him towards the space that was like a gaping hole of darkness, ready to consume the two Jedi into the abyss of death. Thinking quickly, Kyle shoved his lightsaber into the durasteel floor of the hangar, hard. At first, it seemed to be working as Kyle stopped moving while he was hanging on to his lightsaber's hilt, even as his Jedi robe was still fluttering wildly with the vaccum still trying to suck him out into space. He laughed a bit, but stopped when he realized that he was still being sucked into the vaccum, only a lot more slowly than it would be. "Oh, Sithspawn!" Kyle cursed, then looked toward Gavriel. "Gav, you got to find the reactivation switch and turn it on! Hurry!" he shouted amidst the sound of the vaccum as it continued to suck everything that wasn't attached to something out into space. The last of the air was pulled into space along with Kyle's X-Wing Starlight Wizard and Gavriel's TIE Advanced Justice. Gavriel watched as his ship tumbled into space and his mind was filled with expletives at the sight. His eyes then focused on the emergency activation switch above him and Gavriel focused, his mind filled with determination to survive this so he could personally shove his lightsaber into Talbot and Tarkin's bodies, perhaps at the same time . . . Focusing his rage at what they're doing to he and Kyle, what they've been doing to Kasan, and what they're doing to Kali now, Gavriel found his rage adding to the grip on the emergency lever, focusing the rage with the Force, the lever slid down and the airlock immediately resealed and atmosphere immediately filled the room again. Gavriel sank to his feet, he wished he didn't feel that brief suffocation, but that quickly gave way to the new pain he felt coming from his left hand. The robotics were exposed, the synthflesh was burned away almost to his wrist. "I can't believe this . . .":::...
...:::Kyle was hanging on as tightly and madly as he could. He was as much of a fighter as Kasan and his grandfather was. As much as Luke had taught him not to give in to anger, Kyle thought of how he would run both Talbot and Tarkin through and knew that Gavriel would want to do the exact same thing. Kyle was already thinking of the pain he had felt from knowing the fact that Kasan was suffering, imaging the pain she had gone through first with being toyed with by a Hutt then tortured by Talbot. And then Kyle thought of the day he found out Alderaan was destroyed, which led him to think of how he would slay Tarkin who murdered his parents when he ordered the Death Star to destroy Alderaan. His parents would never die in vain, and nor would Kyle himself. He would make Tarkin pay for the death of his parents. So he hung on as tightly as he could, sighing only a bit when he saw his beloved XJ X-Wing get blown out of the airlock along with Gavriel's own TIE Advanced. However, it was over soon enough as Gavriel managed to turn on the emergency lever. The atmosphere returned, as did gravity. Looking over at Gav, who sank to his feet, Kyle simply nodded again. "Good job, Gav." he remarked. Then Kyle suddenly realized that Gavriel was hurt, he plucked his lightsaber from the floor and ran up to Gav to see his injured mechanical hand. "Gav, are you alright?" he asked sincerely. Gavriel looked up to see Kyle looking down at him. Behind him was the blue energy field keeping the atmosphere inside the hangar bay. He then saw the starlight beyond elongate into streaks of light followed by the blue and white chaos of hyperspace. Gav's eyes grew wider as he realized what just happened. "Well isn't this one big bucket of Hutt-drool?":::...
...:::Kyle briefly took his attention away from Gav when he heard something happening. The stars outside the hangar bay were turning into streaks of light, they in turn became part of a blue and white maelstrom which replaced the black and tiny dots of real space. They were now warping into hyperspace. "Kark.... Now what? We are moving into hyperspace, but why?" Kyle spoke as he kept his eyes looking towards the blue and white maelstrom that was the hyperspace tunnel. Gavriel was on his feet clutching his lightsaber tightly in his right hand. What in the Empire was Tarkin planning?:::...
Kali slowly blinked awake. She was sitting up, her head hung down, chin to her chest. Wincing, she closed her eyes again, willing the headache to just stop. After a few more moments, when it didn't feel like she was about to pass back out, Kali opened her eyes again.
She was staring at her lap. She tried to pull her arms back around in front of her, only to realize she was wearing a pair of binders that kept them behind her back and the chair, which was cold, and metal.
Her deep red curls hung in a torrent around her face. Her flight suit was gone. Who the hell had stripped her? She was left in a pair of black boots, tan pants, and light blue tank top. She raised her face, taking in the room. Talbot was standing there, next to a small table, with a little black box on it. She blinked again, her eyes moving back to Talbot, then narrowing.
"Who are you?" She asked him, her voice soft, but low.
Talbot looked at her and smiled his wicked smile. "We will have time for introductions later. We are going to have so much fun together. Or at least I am."
Talbot opened the black box and pulled out a small injector gun and a bottle of yellow liquid. He carefully began to lay them out on the table.
"The Force won't save you this time. We have a Force dampening field in this cell. So try to use it. Then try to struggle, scream or cry. It won't matter. Once I have the information I need, I will let you go."
Kali didn't believe him for one second that he'd let her go. She did believe him about the Force, though. She still had that wet blanket feeling. What scared her the most though was that she couldn't feel Gavriel anymore. Her eyes flicked to the box when he started opening it and laying the items out. Then she looked back up at him, pressing her lips together in a thin line.
"I don't know what you hope to gain. There's nothing important that I know."
Talbot chuckled. Pulling out a empty syringe he walked over to her and plunged it into her arm. Pulling back on the stopper it began to fill up with her blood. After it was full he pulled it back out and placed it back inside the black box. Turning back to Kali he crossed his arms across his barrel chest.
"There are two ways about doing this. The easy way, or the hard way. I'm feeling generous, so I will let you decide."
Kali winced when the needle plunged into his arm, but other than that didn't show any signs of pain. She just watched him as he did his work. When he gave her the options, her response was a sneer.
"Thats the oldest line in the book, ugly. Generous my ass..."
Talbot rewarded her comment with a backhand to her face. "Temper, temper. I had wanted to do this the easy way, but you left me choice."
He slapped her again and then punched her in the stomach. The force of the blow caused her to fall backwards against the floor.
Kali let her head swing to the right with the first slap, wincing, but keeping her lips tight. When he slapped her again, she saw stars. She had a temper alright, but also had an amazing amount of control. Growing up with four brothers will do that to a girl. She let out a whoosh of air when he punched her in her stomache. She couldn't even grunt when she fell backwards. She couldn't gasp enough air. The binder had kept her hands from being totally smashed by the chair and her weight, but she hit the back of her head on the floor. She coughed and groaned, fighting to breath.
Talbot just looked down upon her. Crouching down next to her he pulled out a hankerchief from his pocket and began to wipe the blood from the corner of her mouth.
"Now see what you made me do?" He said softly, but coldly. He finished wiping up her blood and threw the hankerchief behind him. "I must say that you are the first jedi that I have ever tortured. I want this moment to be special for you. I want you to remember it... always."
Putting the chair and Kali back to their upright position he punched her several times in the face until she began to bruise and bleed.
"Now, you will tell me everything you know about what the jedi are up to. What is Luke Skywalker up to? What do the jedi have planned for the Imperial Remnent? Who is Kyle Landoran?" Talbot asked as he pressed his thumb into her eye socket.
Kali took everything as silently as possible. She only let out a few grunts and groans at the punches. She closed both her eyes when Talbot asked her questions, not wanting to give anything away. As for her answer, she lashed out with a viscious kick, and a yell of frustration, connecting her foot with what felt like his leg.
Talbot stepped back as he grabbed his leg. "You little..." He yelled and punched her as hard as he could in her face. The impact lossened teeth and sent a mixture of blood and saliva flying into the wall.
Regaining his compusure he stood up straight and pulled on the hem of his uniform. Walking back over to the small table he picked up the injector gun and began to fill it up with the yellow liquid.
"Normally we have a special interegation droid that does this. But I like the human touch so much better. Truth serum is really a wonder of science. Did you know that there are certain plants that carry it? All we do is take those plants and grind them into the yellow liquid you see now. Quite fascinating, wouldn't you agree?"
Talbot walked over to Kali and injected her in her leg. "Just have to wait a minute and you will tell me everything I want to know. You will start to feel sleepy and dizzy as the serum works through your bloodstream. Are you starting to feel it?"
Kali blacked out for a few seconds from the last punch. When she came to all she could do was cough and hack, spitting out blood. She didn't even flinch when he stuck the needle in her leg. She closed her eyes and shook her head in an answer to his question. She couldn't feel anything but the pain right now. So she concentrated on that.
Talbot leaned against the wall and stared at Kali. "Not much of a talker are you? But don't worry, you will talk soon enough... actually you will talk so much that I'll have to shut you up."
Talbot continued to watch as the serum worked it's way through her bloodstream. it was only a matter of time.
"You jedi think that you are so much better than everyone. You think that because you use the Force that you can just topple governments and put in your own rule? You jedi make me sick. You killed my family, you know that? In cold blood. My father was onboard the first Death Star when you rebel scum blew it up. My mother was killed by a rebel terrorist."
Talbot walked over to Kali and grabbed her by the face and stared into her eyes.
"Do you know what it is like to hold your dying mother in your arms and watch her die? Knowing that there is nothing you can do to help her? Watching her bleed and suffer right in front of you and you are powerless to stop it? Knowing that the person who was responsible is a terrorist that cared nothing for the innocent lives in that building? You rebels scum overthrew a legal government. Your Old Republic was dead, the jedi were traitors and the Empire brought back peace to the galaxy. But that wasn't good enough for you was it? You have to murder millions in cold blood. You had to kill the Emperor himself. You rebel scum are so self-rigteous... it makes me sick." Talbot puntiated his last remark by spitting in her face.
The pain of what happened to his mother still hung with him all these years after her death. He could still smell the smoke, the burning flesh and the scream of the dying. He could still see his mother in his arms, her flesh raw and red from the explosion. The blood... it was all the blood. Even now he could see her blood on his uniform soaking him to the bone. And her last words of "I love you..." Still cut him like no wound ever could. They would pay, they would all pay until his dying breath and even then it would be a curse upon them.
"And you wonder why I love to torture you rebel scum? You took away everything that meant anything to me... payback is a b*tch."
Talbot pulled out the chair from behind the table and placed it in front of Kali. He sat and down and stared at Kali.
"But enough about me, let's talk about you. Tell me, what are the jedi up to? Who are the two jedi that just landed onboard my ship?"
All Kali could do was watch and listen as Talbot spoke and try to survive. She wasn't going to stay awake much longer if he kept punching her in the face... Her head dropped to her chest as she drew in a ragged breath, then coughed and spit out blood onto the floor in front of her. She fought the truth serum she could feel moving through her veins making her sluggish. She wished he would just knock her out now. So she couldn't talk, or feel, or hurt anymore. Blessed unconsciousness. Her head snapped up though when he mentioned that two other Jedi had come on board. "Noo....." was all she managed to get out, through the blood and the bruises. She couldn't believe it. Who would be stupid enough.
Talbot asked her another question. "What is your name? Where were you born?"
"M-my name is... Kali Tal'Set...." She coughed, frowning. "I w-was born on Corellia...."
Talbot could see her trying to fight the serum. But it would be no use. It was like she was entering a hypnotized state. The serum did that everyone. It what made it so effective. He reached behind and grabbed another injector gun. Injecting her with it, he placed back on the table.
"Kali Tal'Set, the liquid that I just injected you with is a stimulant. You won't be able to sleep, you will be wide awake. I want answers and you will give them to me. Now, who are the two jedi that came aboard my ship?" He asked.
Kali blinked and opened her eyes wide when he gave her another injection. She could only shake her head and cough. "I.....don't know...." Which was true. She had no clue who could be on board, besides her.
Talbot nodded. She must not have know. The serum never lied. She was incapable of lying to him. "Curious. Then who would want to rescue you? Who knew that you are onboard my ship? How many jedi are in the battle?"
Kali coughed some more. She looked down at the floor, struggling when the realization dawned on her. A few tears were leaking out now. She knew. The only one who would go through hell itself, which was surely what this man was, to rescue her. She tried to clamp her lips shut, to keep from talking. But her own body betrayed her. "Gav would rescue me... He knew I crashed on board.... He was the only one.... We were connected, through the Force..." She let out a sob. "Until you interferred...." She bite her lip. "And I don't know how many Jedi are in the battle... some stayed behind... It all happend so fast... I was one of the first up..."
"Who is Gav? Why would he care about you? Why would he come to rescue you?"
The tears were flowing now. Inside she was screaming at herself to shut up, but the serum was in full effect now. There was nothing she could do to stop herself. "Gav.... Gavriel D-Derragon... He's a Jedi Master.... Was my Jedi Master..." She sobbed, getting angry now. "We're engaged to be married! He would come to rescue me because he loves me!!" Struggling in frustration against the binders, she spat at him. "And when he finds out what you've done to me he will cut your heart out with his lightsaber!!"
Talbot wiped the spit off his uniform. "Gavriel Derragon... a jedi master. Tell me, how much of a jedi master can he be without the Force? Face it, jedi dog. You are on my turf now. I make the rules. So if, your fiance came all this way to rescue you... that would mean... the other jedi would be Kyle Landoran? What is Kyle and Kasan's relationship? Are they married or enganged?"
Kali just stared at Talbot, tears streaming down her face. "I don't know...."
Talbot shook his head. "So Kyle isn't a jedi then? Then he and Kasan have nothing to do with each other?"
Kali closed her eyes, which were beginning to swell shut themselves. Her words were starting to slur with the swelling around her mouth and lips as well. "Kyle is a Jedi... He and Kasan fought against each other when she was still in the Empire... They met up again a few months ago... After that, I don't know." She had to take deeo breaths to keep talking, she was fighting herself so hard.
Talbot leaned back in his chair. "Interesting. Most interesting. Then Kyle wouldn't care if I kill Kasan and her unborn child." Talbot said with a dismissive wave of his hand. "How many jedi are in the Academy now? Who are the strongest jedi there?"
Kali blinked in surprise up at Talbot. "Kasan is pregnant...??" She almost whispered. But he asked more questions and she almost automatically gave the answers. "There are many Jedi....at the Academy now... More arrive almost every day... At least those who want to be t-trained as Jedi..." Fresh tears started in her eyes again. "Master...Master Luke is probably the strongest Jedi there... I don't know... Strength is measured in many different ways..."
"Strength is measured in only one way- power. Ultimate power. How many of the jedi are masters? What are their names?" Talbot asked.
Sobbing softly, Kali shifted in her seat. She was uncomfortable and in pain. She was also trying to keep from answering him. The words came, though. Any master she could remember, she named. Slowly, as if her mouth was full of barbs and each word she spit out was that much more painful.
Talbot kept careful notes on each she talked about. The cameras were recording everything that she said. Once this interrogation was complete then he would hand over the recording to Tarkin, or at least a copy.
"What does Gav and Kyle look like?" Talbot asked. "I want to make sure that when I kill them, that it is the correct jedi. You do look alike sometimes."
Whenever she closed her eyes, she could call Gav's face to appear. Sometimes it did without even thinking about it, but when she closed her eyes this time, her tears squeezing out to fall down and stain the top of her tank top, along with the blood from the cuts on her cheek and lips, she willed his visage not to come. Tried to keep it away, but he appeared. Laughing at something she had just said or done. Bending over her while she laid back on the pillows of their bed. Handing her a hydrospanner while she sat on top of the Star's Shadow. "H-he has blue eyes.... dark b-brown hair... a head taller th-than me... and muscular...." She sobbed again. "Kyle... Kyle has d-dark red hair.... He's slim... with b-brown eyes..."
"Good, good. Now one last question." Talbot leaned forward and stroked the side of her cheek with one finger.
"Tell me where you family lives... I want to pay them a very special visit... and kill them all." Talbot smiled again and this time it was the smile of a predator.
Kali gaped. A flurry of emotions went through her head and over her face. "My... my family... they live...live on Corellia!" She yelled, then spit in his face.
Talbot wiped the spit from his face. "Corellia is such a big place to look. What city? What building? I don't want to waste my time hunting them down. I just want to see the look in their eyes when I tell them that it was you that betrayed and killed them."
She shuddered, then turned away. In a low voice, she named the city, and the name of her father's building. She just started sobbing after that, taking in fast gasps of air inbetween.
Talbot patted the top of her head. "Good girl, good girl. Your parents will be very pleased when I tell them all about you. Now if you will exuse me it's time for me to go deal with your little jedi friends."
Talbot stood up and put everything back into the black box. Then as the door opened he looked back at Kali and grinned. "But don't worry, I'll be back for you soon enough."
Kali didn't watch him as he left. She just wished she was dead...
Talbot walked back to the bridge. Tarkin and Daala were still standing in front of the viewports watching the battle outside. Talbot walked up to Tarkin.
"I have finished the interogation with the female jedi. Your force belts worked perfectly. She is as helpless as a baby." Talbot reported.
Tarkin nodded and looked at Daala out of the corner of his eye. "See, I told you that they would work."
Daala looked down at the floor ashamed.
"What did you find out from the jedi?" Tarkin asked.
"Her name is Kali Tal'Set and she is from Corellia. She told me how many jedi masters as well as who they are on Yavin IV. She believes that the two jedi that we have onboard are her fiance as well as Kasan's jedi dog. I have confirmed that information with the pictures of the two jedi in the hangar bay." talbot reported.
Tarkin nodded. "Good. So Luke Skywalker is still on Yavin IV? We will deal with him soon enough. I have taken care of the other two jedi by releasing the airlock in the hangar bay. We will see how long it takes for them to survive."
"Are you that's wise? What if more jedi come? Even with the belts we can't have them attempting to disbale this ship like they did with my Knight Hammer." Daala asked.
She was refering to her Excecutor-class Star Destroyer, the Knight Hammer. One jedi name Calissta had snuck onboard and disabled the engines causing the starship to crash into the gas giant of Yavin. She did not want to the same thing to happen to the Darkness.
"No more jedi will come. Where we are going they will not be able to find us." Tarkin said with a confident smile.
Both Daala and Talbot looked at each other confused. Talbot was the first to speak.
"But, I thought that we were going to blow up Yavin IV? Just two jedi against hundreds of thousands of stormtroopers? Not even the Force will be able to save them."
Tarkin shook his head. "We are leaving the system. I'm not taking any chances this time. But don't worry, we will deal with them soon enough. I will leave behind some ships to keep them busy while I deal with the jedi."
Daala realized what Tarkin was talking about. "You mean the rest of the fleet don't you?"
Tarkin smiled. "Of course, and I gave them one specific order. It will be enough for them. Those two jedi are a more pressing concern. But they are trapped here and I will use that to my advantage. Recall the fighters and prepare for the jump to hyperspace. The coordinates are already in the nav-computer."
"You know that they are still alive?" Talbot asked. "You planned this all along?"
tarkin just continued to stare outside as his fighters began to come back to the ship. "Of course, I knew that Kasan would have someone that would attempt to rescue her. I knew that several jedi would attempt a rescue, or at least try to destroy or disable this ship. Now that we have three onboard there is no need to be here any longer. The two jedi in the hangar are just rats in my maze. They will go where I want them to. I have lots of suprises on this ship. I think it's time to introduce them to the jedi."
Tarkin looked up to watch as the ship began to accelerate. The stars turned into lines and then the blue tunnel of hyperspace enveloped them. Talbot and Daala could only wonder what Tarkin had in mind.
Meanwhile in the nearby system, undetected by the forces at Yavin IV, three star destroyers and four escort carriers waited for the signal. Captain Nigel Adamus stood on the bridge of the ISD Black Night. He had been a Imperial as long as he could remember. After the fall of the Empire he had retreated back to the Core and served with the many warlords that sprung up. But he always remained loyal to Daala, despite the fact that she was a woman. She was a capable officer and she saw the need for one Empire, not factions fighting over a corpse.
And now he was ready to fight the Republic again, but this time they had a weapon more than capable of bringing the New Republic to it's knees. A Eclipse-class Star Destroyer. It could destroy planets and would force the rebels to their knees.
"Sir, we have just confirmed that the Darkness has left the system." Commander Kelter reported as he walked up to Adamus.
"Good, inform the rest of the fleet to enter hyperspace for Yavin IV. We have a mission to complete."
"Yes, sir." Commander Kelter said.
"Just have one order to fulfill." Captain Adamus said under his breath. "Base-Delta-Zero."
Crukai and the droid casually walk behind the Jedi as she clears a way through the dense jungle with her lightsaber. Crukai asks her, "How far till we reach the Academy?"
Aina swiftly swings her lightsaber from side to side, taking in and releasing breaths, "We...*Huff* Should be there...*Huff*...soon."
Crukai nods before turning to the droid who managed to get itself stuck on a branch, "You should have some kind of jungle modifications."
The droid beeps questioningly, "Beep bop beep?"
Crukai grins, "Yeah." He backtracks and kneels next to the droid, "You know, I could give ya some larger wheels, maybe pull off the siding and lift ya an extra 5 inches." He glances about the droid, "Maybe some extra adjustments to your optical sensors." He rubs his chin before laughing and slapping the droid on the side, "And a spoiler on the back!"
The droid beeps madly, "Beep beep bep boop beeeepp!!!"
Crukai gives the droid a swift kick, knocking it free, "Junk? What're you talking about?"
The droid hurries forward, still beeping.
Crukai sneers, "The spoiler was just a finisher." He nods to himself, "I've been a mechanic my entire life, I should know what's junk and what's not." He quickly hurries forward, keeping pace with the others.
Aina shakes her head, having heard Crukai and the R2's chat, "Both of you, quiet." She glances around cautiously, "I sense a disturbance, it's near." She kneels to the ground and motions for Crukai to do the same, "This way..." She whispers.
They slowly lurk fowardward, into the jungle's dense plants and shrubs before they pause before what they find. Aina whispers, "We have to do something."
Crukai scowels, "How about we not get involved?"
Aina reaches for her lightsaber, "Sorry, but that's not an option."
Renn was now even more shaken then he was before. He had just lost another fighter, Green Ten. He could still hear both his and Six's screams inside his head, he couldn't get them out.
"I can't do this...I'm letting Gav down, I'm letting everyone down," Renn said aloud, forgetting he was still in the channel.
Then came Face's irrated voice. "Snap at out of it, Green Leader! This people are counting on you to make a good decision! You can't do that when you're doubting yourself!"
"Um, Sir?" came a voice that Renn had never heard before.
"What is it, Kell?"
"The Eclipse-class Star Destroyer just made a jump into hyperspace."
For a moment Renn was too stunned to understand what that ment. Then he heard Face curse and then once he undertstood it he began to curse as well.
"WHAT?! Emperor's Black Bones! Gav, Kyle, Kali, and Kasan are on that damn thing!"
This was not good, not good at all. Now he felt his hands sweat underneath his gloves. He had to find them, but how? Well he could always make a jump to hyperspace himself but that wasn't a good idea. Without having a course making a jump to hyperspace was a suicide attempt, there was no telling he would wind up.
"See if you can trace their location, Kell."
For a moment there was silence on the other end. Renn could feel his squadron's tension, even Face and Kell seemed tense.
"Sorry, Sir, not getting a damn thing. They must've found a way to block us from finding out."
Face sighed. "Clever bastards aren't they?" he muttered dryly.
"I'm going to go after them."
"WHAT?! Are you insane?! If you don't have their coordinates making a jump to hyperspace could kill you!"
"Look, those people are my friends! If I was in their position they'd come for me!" Renn snapped back at Face.
"The odds of you making the right decision-"
"Never tell me the damn odds!"
When Face spoke next his voice was calm. "Look, I may not know Gav or Kyle and the others who are on that thing but I got a feeling that they can take care of themselves."
STOP BEING A STUBBORN CORELLIAN AND LISTEN TO REASON! PLEASE FOR BOTH OUR SAKES. came his droid's reply.
"But they need me too!"
"If you get killed then you won't be able to help anyone. I can't give orders alone here, you know."
Renn sighed. "I'll stay."

The battle was really getting interesting. One jedi crashed landed on the behemoth of a star destroyer and word was that Gav and Kyle went in after the lady jedi known as Kali, and surely Kyle was going after Kasan. But it was outside the hull the metallic beast that was getting to be the place-to-be. The mass of TIEs, friend and foe, were like two hornets' nests crashing together. If it wasn't for the identifying radar blips it would probably be impossible to tell the two sides apart. But then again that put some fun into it.
As Mahtan took in a quick breath he rolled his ship left to get out of the immediate fray. He took a moment to check shields and count missiles.
“Ok...” he let the breath out, “I’m sitting at 68% shields and two more concussion missiles…” Seeing a pair of green laser bolts flash directly over his canopy, he quickly figured the break was over. Another blaster bolt shook the Black Corona in its entirety. A TIE was trailing not too far back. Mahtan brought the V-19 into a downward barrel roll that the TIE would most likely follow but not in the same fashion. At that was the plan. The barrel roll would cause the V-19 to drop faster making a greater amount of space between the two vehicles and allowing more time to turn and before any shots would come from the TIE.
The plan was executed, and the Black Corona quickly spun around at the base of it’s dive. The ship rocked slightly as he did so. Spying the TIE still in its dive Mahtan quickly engaged and readied a concussion missile.
“Come on…” The small box-of-a-reticule drifted into place over the target TIE on the screen. A moment later it beeped signaling a ready-to-fire. At the same time the enemy TIE began to unleash a spray of green beams. Quickly Mahtan fired the missile and pulled up. The TIE saw the incoming attack and tried to avoid it by dashing forward. It almost worked but the move hadn’t happened quite soon enough.
Without any sort of warning the remaining TIEs of the opposing force halted fire, and moved towards the star destroyer they had come from. Mahtan stared confused. They were all borading the destroyer.
Turning his V-19 around to the right he was now almost running parallel with the Eclipse Star Destroyer. Mahtan watched the destroyer’s turbo laser stop firing, the entire ship elongate, and disappear.
“Holy…!” The massive vessel had just made a jump into hyperspace.
What ever they were doing they must have gotten what the wanted out of their visit. And where ever they landed at out of hyperspace probably wouldn’t be any place to help those who are friendly and their situation. Mahtan, as well as others most likely, knew that they would have to be found.
Mahtan leaned back and let him self drift. He glanced where the star destroyer had been and knew that the only thing him or any other jedi could do right now was regroup and start brain-storming.

Reason: I'm a big dumbass.
...:::Grand Admiral Pellaeon stood hunched over a command console reading technical schematics of the battle. While he believed in watching the battle itself, as he was trained to do by Grand Admiral Thrawn, technical data also presented a picture not always evident to the naked eye. After reading that schematics he turned back to the viewpanels on the bridge of the Star Destroyer Chimaera. He could see the enormous black Eclipse-Class Star Destroyer Darkness. Intel had just confirmed it's name and Pellaeon cut his eyes looking at the monstrosity of a ship. "Tarkin, I will send you to the darkness myself even if it means I must spear that ship with my own . . ." Pellaeon had followed a trail of clues that confirmed former Admiral Daala and an apprently reborn Grand Moff Tarkin's presence on board the ship after it was contructed by Torba the Hutt in the region of the galaxy known as Wild Space. It became obvious to Pellaeon that Torba would have no answers to offer when sensor readouts confirmed the body of the Hutt flash-frozen and floating freely near the docks where the Darkness was constructed. Looking out the viewpanels of his Star Destroyer he then saw something he had no expected. The massive black shape nearly eclipsing the orange gas giant of Yavin suddenly shot into hyperspace.:::...
...:::When the ship escaped into Hyperspace, it did so leaving behind two free floating shapes. They were two big to be bodies and one of the shapes was the same as the XJ X-Wing his tractor beams had caught nearly 15 minutes ago. He was sure that first craft belonged to a Jedi Knight and was just as sure this other X-Wing and TIE Advanced were also Jedi craft. Pellaeon looked to one of his Liutenants who looked back up at him. "No life readings on either sir." Then the two Jedi must still be on board. Pellaeon thought to himself. "Very well Liutenant, bring the tractor beams back online and bring the X-Wing and TIE Advanced on board and dock them beside the X-Wing we caught earlier." "Yes sir." Pellaeon then turned to Captain Xartan. "Damage Report." Captain Xartan stood ready with the details. "We are heavily damaged along the Portside from numerous Ion Cannons from the Darkness. Damage Control specialists have been dispatched to seal up several hull fractures and TIE numbers are down nearly 18%." Pellaeon nodded and dismissed Xartan to his other duties. "Recall the TIE Fighters, and keep your eye on the radar. I want no further incidents involving the Jedi. I want the rest of my fleet waiting on standby just in case Tarkin has any further surprises." Looking back out the viewpanels on the bridge, Pellaeon stared into the direction of space the Darkness had escaped into. It wasn't over yet, but just what it was Tarkin was doing was still not clear. Just what are you up to Tarkin?":::...
...:::Inside the Defense Command Room of the Jedi Academy, Luke Skywalker couldn't help but notice the similarities of the past and present. It was inside this room where nearly 25 years ago General Jan Dodonna and Princess Leia Organa, (Now Leia Organa Solo) stood as Luke, Wedge, Biggs, and other Rebel Pilots launched their attack on the first Death Star. Grand Moff Tarkin was present at that battle and believed to have died on board the Death Star. Yet strangely enough, it seemed Grand Moff Tarkin had survived and returned to finish what he nearly completed those 25 years ago. Of course the technology of those times had fallen by the wayside and the monitor that showed the Death Star's path toward the Yavin moon was replaced by a fully holographic array that showed the battle in almost perfect 3-D. He had glanced away from the holos for only a second and when his eyes looked back, Luke found that the Eclipse-Class Super Star Destroyer Darkness was nowhere to be found. The largest shape out in space was now Grand Admiral Pellaeon's Star Destroyer. "What?" Luke glanced to several other Jedi who noticed the ship's absence and went to work on intel. There was no way to determine the ship's course into hyperspace and now, Gavriel Derragon, Kali Tal'Set, and Kyle Landoran are missing along with Kasan Moor inside of the ship.:::...
...:::Luke got on the call button to all the fighter groups. "This is Luke Skywalker, all fighter groups return home. It seems the worst is over for now." Luke considered those words, they were truthful but for the disturbance he felt in the Force. Something else was going on. Luke, we have in incoming message from Star Destroyer Chimaera." said Jedi Master Kam Solusar. The small holo appeared where the battle was being monitored. Pellaeon gave a slight nod of his head before beginning. "Jedi Skywalker, I wish to make it known that Tarkin and Daala's actions do not reflect upon the Imperial Remnant as a whole." Luke nodded. "I was pretty sure of that Grand Admiral. I would also like to express my gratitude for the help you've given us. I'm sure it was costly." Pellaeon nodded slightly and glanced to the side before looking back. "I still have my fleet on stand by should this Tarkin spring anymore traps. My feelings tell me he has something more planned." Luke nodded after hearing that. "I agree. Should I put in a call to the New Republic and have a fleet on standby?" Pellaeon seemed to tense at the thought. "I cannot officially condone that action on my end Master Skywalker. The Empire's ties with the New Republic are strained enough and neither side is ready to ask the other for help." "I can understand how the diplomatic relations are, fortunately I know a few people in the New Republic who still care about the common good and will say nothing if you won't." From the other line Pellaeon sufficed a slight smile. "I will pretend I did not hear that and know nothing of this officially. We will stay in touch however. Pellaeon out." Luke smiled and began to punch in the holonet transciever code for Leia and Han's complex on Coruscant . . .
Within the foggyness of Tae's mind he openned his eyes, again another of his powers had come into play. Holoprojection. Or his powers were doing such a thing. He was standing in a doorway, of somekind, the place felt cold, chilled by some technology. Adepti powers hadn't been studied to be dampenned, but the coldness he felt was similar to being next to a large freezer.
He saw her. Or that same person he had seen before she had come into an X winged ship, the same one who felt from the cry help. He aproached her, his feet making no sound. How this was possible Tae was wondering also. Was he dead? Well, it was a possibility. Just by looking at her he managed to get her name in a feeling of the mind.
"Kali?" he asked, his voice echoing as if from a long distance. She looked up and saw him. She had seen him like all the others. "Dont worry, a warriors strength comes from the heart not the power or muscle he or she has, or the powers she possesess." it was obvious she fall falling into despair, her colour of emotion was a dark blue almost grey, why or how he knew this was another question he would have to ask master Luke.
He looked at her, to her she would have assumed he was a force projection or spirit, no it was just an Adepti experiencing another flurt of his powers going off without control. His form rippled, the faded out. Tae jolted awake, a hand steadied him. She, a female jedi was now there. "You've had a rough time Tae, what ever your powers did, you were away from us for a while." she commented.
"How long?" he croaked, somehow he felt heavy all the information from being away from his body was lost, why, or how was another question. What he could remeber was feeling cold and seeing blue or grey. His arms ached his head pulsed, another migrane, a pain suppressant was administered.
"A few hours, i think you should see Master Luke too, already i think you need some questions answered like he need questions answered too." With nod, Tae slowly helped himself to his feet, he needed a bit of help from the female, she wasn't human but she was a knight as what he could tell of her. "Names Je'skaj," she said notcing hiis observation.
With help Tae began to be able to move more easily towards Defense Command Room of the Jedi Academy where Luke Skywalker was now occupying. Tae felt his stomach tense he was now meeting a rather powerful Jedi, but there was no fear, also, tae found out he was unarmed also. Not good.
Renn was just sitting there, not moving holding his chin with one hand. Everyone was silent, even Face who struck him as a talkative person.
Then he heared Kell whine, "This is boring. When are the Imps going attack? I want to see some explosions while I'm causing them!"
"Don't worry, Kell," Face told him, "you'll see some explosions. The Imps are planning something, I can feel it."
Renn decided to send Face a private message. "What's wrong with Kell?"
"Kell is Wraith Squadrons demolotions expert. He loves heavy machinery and explosives. He is also a skilled hand-to-hand combatant. Trust me, Kell does have his uses in a fight."
Finally boredom and started to take it's toll on Renn and just as he was about to scout ahead he heard Master Skywalker's voice, "This is Luke Skywalker, all fighter groups return home. It seems the worst is over for now."
At that point Renn felt angry. How could he make that decision? There were four people out there and Renn did not want to leave them. Was Master Skywalker willing to risk their lives? He began to force himself to calm down, he'd go to the Academy and find out why Luke called them back. But then again he did say the worse was over but Face's words haunted him.
"The Imps are planning something, I can feel it. The Imps are planning something, I can feel it."
Renn then made his decision, they'd return back to the Academy. He needed to rest and he knew the others did too. But before he could rest he would need to talk to Master Skywalker first.
"Let's go home guys. You did good, I'm proud of you."
He headed in the direction of the planet and once he entered the atmosphere he felt the ship rattle and he looked out of the canopy he saw one of his S-foils was glowing the heat of reentry. When they landed he climbed out of his X-wing. He removed his helmet and his gloves. One strand of hair was hanging from the side of his head but he pushed it back into place. Renn then turned and saw Face's A-wing and saw the pilot climb out of it. Face removed his helmet and stood there looking around.
"Where's Face?" Five wondered, she was a Twi'lek with blue skin, Renn couldn't remember her actual name. They only met once or twice.
"You're looking at him." Face gave her a smile. She was like most of his old fans. Most didn't reconize him because he was now bald headed, wore a fake mustache and beard, and had a counterfeit facial scar. However he still had the same green eyes.
"I'm going to get some rest, you should too, Renn." The Twi'lek female gave him a pat on the shoulder and started to walk away with some of the other pilots.
"I will!" Renn shouted after her.
Face shook his head with a smile on his face. "You're not really going to rest, are you?"
"Nope, I'm going to see if Master Skywalker will allow me to try to find them." Renn turned on his heels and started in search of Master Skywalker.
