    RP-Society.com Rules

Hello everyone! We are happy to have you be part of the website, and since we strive for a happy, relaxed, friendly and creative environment for everybody, please take a look at the following rules of RPGChat. Keep in mind that these rules apply to all members and cover the entire website. If you have any questions about them, please feel free to message any staff member. We’re happy to help out!

Rule No. 1: Do not attack, insult, or disrespect* other members. If you feel like you have been wronged in any way, message an Administrator. Violations of this rule can result in a written warning and or a ban, depending on the severity of the insult. Comments on race, gender, or sexual orientation may result in harsher punishments. If you are upset, we encourage you to take a step back and cool off. Be always respectful!
*This includes repeated unwarranted accusations made against fellow RPers without proof. Please refrain from false accusations against your fellow RPGCers!

Rule No. 2: Do not spam post on forums outside the Spam-O-Rama section. Double posts should only be posted when: (a) either a thread has been inactive for several days or (b) there is a clear separation and distinction between one post and the other. Double posts may be merged by the staff if needed. If you feel like being random, feel free to start your own topic in the Spam-O-Rama section. It’s okay. We all do it.

Rule No. 3: Ban evasion is not allowed. In other words, do not use an alternate account to avoid the ban that has been given to you by the staff. This will result in a ban on your alternate account as well as a longer ban on your main account. If you ever receive a ban, just be patient!

Rule No. 4: Do not join the website to advertise products or services. Advertising any business ventures, as well as attempting to attract members to another website, is forbidden and punishable by the staff. This does not mean that you can’t express your preferences in conversation. Your primary purpose for joining RPGChat, however, should be to write and to make friends, not to advertise. If you are an RP site however and would like to express interest in affiliation, please click here!

Rule No. 5: Do not plagiarize. As writers, we take plagiarizing very seriously. Basically, do not post content that does not belong to you without giving the appropriate credit. Remember, plagiarizing is stealing, so if you’re caught plagiarizing you will receive a ban and the stolen content will be removed. Do not steal original content from this website and claim it as your own, either. A simple link to the original content is fine!

Rule No. 6: Do not post or link any inappropriate or explicit material on the website. We remind you that there are members from a wide range of ages, so we must be careful what material traffics RPGChat. Forbidden content includes all pornography, and may include powerful images, such as those of heavy gore, horror, and nudity. When writing about intimacy, it is encouraged to use the “fade to black” concept. Imply and don’t over-describe! If more is described than what is appropriate, the content and the member will be subject to action from the staff.

Rule No. 7: Do not post, link, or discuss illegal websites. Legal liability is a concern for RPGChat, so to be safe we must enforce any violation of this. The staff will deliberate all violations on a case by case basis, and depending on the severity of the topic, your IP Address may or may not be reported. As long as you refrain from anything suspicious, you should be fine, though.

Also, be aware that these rules are subject to change at the staff’s discretion. We are proactive in letting all members know of all changes, however, so you shouldn’t worry! As long as you’re respectful and mindful of the rules, there is no reason why you shouldn’t enjoy and love this website just as much as we do.

Again, if you have any questions about any of the rules, feel free to message any member of the staff. We are more than happy to clarify or answer any questions you may have.

    Happy writing!

    Signature Rules

As a roleplay site, we have disabled signatures from showing up in IC forums as they disrupt the flow of the roleplay. The only exception to this rule is if you host a UCRP: in that case it's your choice as to whether or not they show up.

Below is a list of rules for signatures, not that these rules are subject to change at any time without notice. Enforcement of some rules has to be based off of moderator/administrative taste and opinion to a degree, we will make every attempt to allow your signature but if it violates what we would seem good taste, it will be removed:

    • Signature images cannot be over 640 pixels in width and 200px in height. If your width exceeds this but your height is fine, please visit postimage.org and select the 640x480 option from the dropdown. Otherwise, you will have to manually resize or visit Forum Art Shops to request a resize.
    • Signatures must be in good taste (nothing that flashes or exists for the point of forcing the eyes attention to it)
    • Signatures must be PG-13 in rating. We have young adults here.
    • Animated gifts are allowed as long as to do not violate the first 3 rules.
    • Videos have been disabled.
    • Signatures should not be created that intentionally or unintentionally stretch the page out of proportions. This includes unnecessarily stretching your post vertically (e.g. 4 img tags each on their own line and each being a 500 by 500 transparent square).
    • You are limited to 500 characters without bbcode and 800 characters counting bbcode.
    • You are limited to 4 lines.

That is all for now as far as rules go.

Note: if you'd prefer not to see signatures at all, you can disable them by going to this link:

    http://rpgchat.com/profile.php?do=editoptions

And removing the tick from the show signatures checkbox.
