In every shadow
Mist grimaced but then suddenly his jaw dropped and he quickly braced himself and suddenly flame encircled him, burning away his clothing and suddenly his was in his demonic form, Reaver had followed suit and was standing there too in his demonic form, they were identical except for Reaver having blood red hair. Mist bounded forwards in an instant, causing the ground to crack under the pressure and he barged into Catya and her horse, sending them flying as another form shimmered and appeared, his fist caught by Mist, his hand being where Catyas head had been moments before.
Mist and Zevos stared eachother down with pure hatred. Zevos was almost human in appearance but he was at least eight foot tall with a body rippling with muscles, his skin was a dark blue and he wore only small black shorts, leaving most of his body exposed. He then contorted his expression to a leer.
"Father said you was taking too long, we heard of your plans to create another freak. I am here to let you understood what a fools errand that is".
Mist roared with rage and pushed up with his fist, then brough his head forward, smashing his forehead into the unexpected forehead of Zevos, the large man howled with pain and jumped back, a large energy sword erupting from his wrist. Reaver bounded over to Catya and her horse and picked Catya up from where she lay.
"Sorry for the sudden surprise, we was not expected to be found so soon. Seems my appearance here was a boon after all".
Zevos now charged forward but was cut off and reaver shoulder rammed him from the side and sent him flailing into Catyas house, causing a large explosion of concrete and dust. Mist then charged up a ball of energy and breathed fire into the orb or pure energy and sent it soaring towards the dust cloud where Zevos was now. Reaver rushed forwards and huddled over Catya to shield her from the blast. Mist focused and suddenly a strange wispy like field of energy formed around the sudden explosion, attempting to suppress the dmage but the energy wave ripped through all thesame and Mist was sent soaring backwards, crashing through several trees before he hit the ground, causing a large groove in the mud where he lay.
Mist grunted in pain and looked at where Zevos had been and cursed silently, seems hisnopponent had fled for now. Reaver stayed hunched over Catya and made eyes at her which seemed odd with his blood red glowing magical orbs that had replaced his human eyes.
"Is the lady unharmed?"
First Catya had fallen onto her back into the dirt, then once Reaver helped her up, she almost immiediately was being pushed over again thanks to yet another immortal causing chaos. This wasn't off to a great start, especially if there was more where that came from.
She was in a rather awkward position beneath Reaver, staring unimpressed up into flirtatious eyes. She wanted to retain at least some of her dignity, shakily standing and leaning against a tree.
"I'm fine," she muttered, rubbing her arm. The explosions were pretty fantastic, but she was mostly bruised, apart from a scratch on the back of her hand when she landed, a few on her arms, and one under her eye from a piece of rocky debris.
"He left in a hurry, now didn't he? Is he going to come back with friends?"
In every shadow
Mist was walking back to them with a dark look upon his face, he felt his bones mending as he moved and sensed Nuel was among them, seems this was the small help he had offered. Mist reached Catya and looked her over for injuries. His bright red eyes glowing at her with uncertainty, he raised his claws and tapped along his mouth plate with a thoughtful air and then backed away from her.
"That was a fellow immortal that has left the order of fallen angels, he was the weakest of his group, their leader is a freak of the highest order. He is stronger than me and we lack the numbers right now to face him. My attack was a desperate one but now they will know of my new power, they will be ready for it next time. That is the reason for you being here. Nuel wanted a freak who would posess several bloodlines and so I offered you. If all goes well then you will have great power and the odds will be evened out. This is clearly a game to Nuel though, he wants us to fight and he will reward the victors. I do not pretend to know his plans too well though, he may surprise us. Do not mistake freak for an insult, we are all freaks of nature, you will simply be the first human freak. A bold new experiment".
He then flexed his body and began to return to his human form. Reaver did the same after an amused nod to Catya, then suddenly two nude and muscular men were standing next to her. Mist gave an awkward stare and Reaver gave a snort of laughter as suddenly clothes appeared upon them. Mist looked up and a small girl was sitting up high on one of the tree branches above them, wearing a small black dress, she gave a small wave and blew a kiss to Reaver. Reaver held up his hand to wave back but Mist grabbed it and shook his head.
"This is his game, but we will not humor him, not now".
Mist then blinked as his top half of the leather armor faded away and simply sighed in understanding. He looked at Catya and gave a small smile.
"At least Nuel has let you keep your clothes for now".
Reaver winked at Catya and then he evaporated into mist and set off to the north. Mist beckoned to Catya and he begun moving in the same direction, watching the sky as it began to darken.
"We will need to set camp soon, it is too dangerous to move in the dark. We shall wait until morning. I will send a signal for help, several friends will be watching for it.

Catua stared up at Mist, brows furrowed as he spoke.
"Experiment, right. That could go a few different ways. Let's hope the way doesn't involve an agonizing, slow death."
When the two brothers turned back, nude as babes, she rolled her eyes and held a hand in front of her face. She groaned aloud at the thought of being forced to abandon her own clothes, and scowled at Reaver as he seemed to get too much enjoyment out of the thought.
They rode their horses awhile as the sun set until the first stars began to appear. Camp was easy enough to set up, all she had to do was let Mist start a fire as she journeyed a few feet into the trees to find some dry moss that would act as meager bedding between them and the hard packed dirt.
There was a distict rustling and muffled cracking of twigs. Then again, louder and closer. Her first thought was a wild animal, wolves, foxes, or even a bear, but she was alarmed to say the least, and considering the situation, it could easily be something far, far worse.
She took a few steps backward towards the road, arms full of moss. "Uhh... Mist, sinister crackling in the trees, not good." She continued to back up and dropped the moss, reaching for her sword which she'd left lying on the ground.
In every shadow
Mist followed after her but was deep in thought, he was trying to think of every angle that Fate could take. If he was to keep this controlled then he was to predict every outcome. Even after all of these years he could not fathom what the grand plan of Fate was, did he want to kill them all of let a fraction of them live? He let himself become distracted as he lit a small fraction of wood as a camp fire. He let himself become distracted by the flames as he lost himself deep in thought, this was never going to be simple.
Mist was not comfortable with her distancing herselft from camp but he kept a sharp invisible eyes upon her as she moved further away. He looked at the fire boredly and poked at it with his finger, not caring as the fir e burned away at his human skin. Suddenly he looked up as he sensed apprehension from Catya, he sensed other movement from a lesser creature, he sighed as he shifted forwards and appeared in front of Catya, the fox creeping nervously in the nearby bush twitched and then sprinted off in the opposite directilon. Mist glanced at Catya and sighed.
"Our enemies will not attack if we remain in one place in the guise of a defensive position. I know these creatures so do not fear. Help is on the way. I sent a message before I arrived here, two immortals are on their way",
Mist looked to the West w8th a sudden alertness, he could sense a power drawing near, it seemed as if somebody was in a rush.
Catau peered around Mist and her face fell. "Oh." She glared into the trees, and moved back to the fire, mumbling, "In my defense, I have a right to be paranoid. Something or someone, could attempt to kill us any almost any moment."
Maybe her own paranoia was justified, maybe it wasn't. Mist didn't seem afraid, or jumpy. But he wasn't human. He didn't have to worry about dying.
"You burned your hand again," she noticed. She sat and started assembling the moss on the ground into a small carpet, feeling suddenly quite helpless and idiotic. Mist would protect her, he always had so far. But what had she done? Cause trouble, and get injured. Maybe his faith in her was misplaced, he could have picked any human he wanted that day at the inn, but her trust in him was not. Thanks to him, she knew that death is not the end. And there are worse things than dying. Still...
Her thoughts were cut off when Mist turned expectantly In a direction, and she followed the movement. It looked like at least part of the help had arrived.
In every shadow
Mist looked up and his eyes narrowed and a guilty look spread across his features as a man in a red cloak could be seen leaping from tree branch to tree branch, his head covered by a red hood but a familiar shield with swords sheathed into the sides. He then leapt down and landed next to Mist, he pulled back hishood and clearly it was Vincent but he was changed, the left side of his face sagged and was badly burned, almost rock hard black chipped skin was on the surface of the left side of his face, the left eye was bloodshot and the pupil was a pale white. He looked at Catya and gave a silent nod.
Mist breathed out loudly as he then looked at Catya.
"No doubt he seems famliar to you. I found the true Vincent and I was correct in assuming that he had not turned evil but had been captured and a doppleganger replaced him in an attempt to weaken and destroy the red bands by making them target me. Sadly their mission was a success but I located Vincent and saved him from captivity, they were using him for an experiment on immortality, not alike the one you will be partaking it but their methods were more brutal and less defined. He suffered ill effects even if he is now immortal and has much greater power. He prefers to be called Marcus now".
Mist laid his hand upon Marcus's shoulder and gave a reassuring smile. Marcus gave a pained smile and then moved over to a nearby tree, giving the fire a wary look. Mist grimaced and suddenly his form began to flicker. He gave a cough and ignored it and went back to the fire, giving the moss an amused look.
"Oh, my," she murmured, eyes widening at the wreck his face had become. She didn't want to know what tortures he must have endured to change him so, even if the other him she remembered was a mere doppleganger.
Immortality with it's price
Nevertheless, Vincent was the last person she would have expected to become an ally. With her past efforts to destroy the remnants of the Red Bands, she'd all but forgotten him.
Noticing the look Mist was giving her makeshift moss bed, she crossed her arms defensively. "I can assure you, i've slept on dirt roads before and i'd rather not repeat the worst discomfort known to man or immortal again."
In every shadow
Mist gave a grunt of amusement to her quip but then his eyes darkened as Nuel had just appeared again, in the form of the little girl in the black dress, she sat next to Marcus and gave a comforting smile and laid her head against his shoulder. Marcus peered at her and simply turned his head back, sullenly staring at the ground. His eyes darkened as he thought of what Catya said, complaining over laying on dirt as if she truly knew what discomfort was.
Mist looked to Catya and spoke within her mind.
"Nuel is behaving oddly be cautious".
Mist then gasped as a new arrival had appeared. A white haired woman in a black travelling cloak had just walked into their clearing. Mist looked at Nuel with darkened eyes, so this was his game. Spirit gave a smile to Mist and gave a small bow to Nuel, pausing and giving an awkward smile to Marcus. She then looked at Catya, her green eyes seemed to flicker with some ominous energy. She smiled at her and then she sat next to Mist. Mist eyed her warily and then looked at Catya with a sympathetic gaze. The two women in his life had finally met.
"Why are you here Spirit, you are forbidden to enter this realm, you was to wait for me in the dark place".
Spirit sighed and laid her hand on his knee.
"Nuel gave me consent to come here, saying you needed aid and that you might be lonely. I have twenty four hours in this realm and then I return. Plus I wanted to meet the new lady in your life".
Secretly, or perhaps not so secretly, Catya was glad that Mist's other help was not another like the perpetually horny Reaver or sullen Vincent. She seemed a kinder woman with worldly eyes.
She wasn't sure what Mist's looks and words meant, but there was history clearly between them and it was sort of awkward. There was tension in their exchange.
"Hello... I'm afraid, I don't really know what to say. Nuel sent you?" She glanced across the fire at Fate.
In every shadow
Spirit continued to stare at Catya with her bright green eyes and then she could only sigh as she tapped her finger upon Mist's forehead and suddenly his form flickered once more and then he faded into a clay like figure that then solidified into a statue. Spirit gave a deep breath and then stroked her hand along it's cheek and then she looked back at Catya with a dark look upon her face.
"Mist was never truly here, everything you saw or heard from him was an illusion, illusionary magic of the highest order, coming from fate itself. He was honoring a last request from Mist, that he would make sure you gained the power to become an immortal. We doubted that you would come with Nuel so we faked this in order to get you moving. A cruel move yes but it was nessesary, you share the essence of Mist, making you the perfect candidate. I will be your second, giving you the second half of the essence which will cause a transformation into an immortal, maybe Mist knew this was going to happen. We need more aid and you were the first choice. If it goes well then you will make for a formidable ally, or you will die".
Spirit then slumped backwards with a sad look upon her face. So much had happened and who knows what would happen now. The odds were not in their favor.
Catya just about shrieked when Mist faded into that lifeless thing, quickly stepping away from it and the woman.
"It was all lies... and for what? What's happened? And who are you anyway?" Her tone was accusatory, growing louder as she began to near shout. "How am I expected to trust you? For all I know, this is some kind of elaborate trap! Do you just expect me to just go along with you, because the whole reason I was doing this was for Mist, and he's not here..."
She huffed, and pinched the bridge of her nose, calming somewhat. "You said this was a last request. Is he dead, missing, captured, or currently too busy with something else?"
In every shadow
Spirit watched Catya, allowing her to calm down before she gave a small smile.
"You come with us because you no longer have a choice, things have gone too far. Plus I could just seduce you with my abilities and then you would no longer have a say in the matter, you would beg to go with me and marry me".
She gave a short pause, amused at what a reaction she might get from that.
"I am Spirit, former Vampiric general and now part desire demon. I am the wife of Mist but I have been long dead, killed in battle so I remain on the other side, watching and serving fate. I also possess the essence of Mist and so I can mix my power with yours and there is a chance that it will not kill you but there is a ritual so I cannot do it right here. Mist is not dead, to kill him would be as easy as killing fate himself. Mist is a freak of the highest order. A ghost in a shell, at best you could imprison him if you had the power to do so and that is what our enemies possess. We have heard rumors that Mist may be leading them, if so then this could get dangerous. If you posess the essence of Mist then you will be less harmed by his energy, making you the perfect weapon against him, since I am dead and will be forced to go back to the dark place in time my help is limited. You however are stil some what alive. Mist is no joke though so even with your boon it would be suicide".
She then walked up to Catya and moved one of her fingers over Catyas lips.
"My husband would drop his guard around you, not since me has he done that so I will trust you for now. Our methods may be crude but our goal is not. I do this because I love Mist and I will do what ever I can to save him. Offending you is not high on my list of cares. Be thankful that you are not a slobbering zombie of mine right now that would put Reaver to shame".
Reaver gave a disappointed sigh.
Catya's hands were clearly tied, and the thought of herself drooling over this woman wasn't a pleasant one. She couldn't exactly hide her brief look of disgust.
Neither could she ignore the twinge of jealousy that sparked in her chest, despite how she tamped it down, and put it aside.
"I want to save him," she declared, "I will, because you're not the only one who cares for him." Her fists were balled up, and she stared Spirit down, flames in her eyes. "Whatever this ritual is, let be done as soon as possible. I'd have you carry out your threats to turn me into a lovesick thrall if it helped."
Her voice lowered, and she added, "I don't care if it's a suicide mission, I have no attachments in this mortal world anyway. What must we do first?"
In every shadow
Spirit could only stand there with narrowed eyes, she leaned closer and allowed her nail to nick a part of Catyas lip, then she leaned in and allowed the tip of her tongue to absorb the blood and then she leaned back, her eyes fluttering as she tasted the blood before she closed them and then opened them slowly, looking at Catya with curiousity.
"Not the worst blood I have tasted, seems your body retains your power well. Mist always did have a way with bringingnout strength in others".
She then turned her head quickly as Reaver appeared and was clearly in a panic and was holding Fiper under his arms, he rushed over to Catya and gave an apology before he quickly made a hole in the back of her out fit and Viper quickly latched on. Reaver stood back and let out a deep breath.
"Sorry for the intrusion. I found Viper dying in the wilds, seems he had escaped Mist and was searching for Catya since only her essence could substain him. I have to leave now. I sense danger might be close but I will give warning if anything happens".
Reaver then vanished and Spirit moved away and whistled, causing three horses to suddenly gallop out from the undergrowth, all of them similar in appearance and one of them was clearly Catyas horse from earlier. Spirit mounted her horse and then looked at Catya.
"We will move on to the gate and there the ritual will be proceeded with, then after you live or die we go to war. Try not to die on us too quickly".
Spirit and Marcus then both spurred their horses and galloped off in the direction of the gate. Viper looked at Catya and gave a small nod with a sheepish smile.
Catya could hardly keep herself from recoiling from Spirit amd her apparent lack of cares about personal space. Althougj, she had to agree that Mist did give her strength in their time together, literally.
Under normal circumstances, Catya might have slapped Reaver away, but Viper made for a different sort of situation. She'd nearly forgotten about Viper, but was glad to see the snake. His appearance only made this entire scenario more dire.
"Thank you, Reaver. I'm glad you're alright," she addressed Viper hanging over her shoulder, and kissed his scaly head. "I really, really hope neither of us die today. For Mist's sake."
Catya jumped onto her horses back and took off after the others.
In every shadow
Viper was rather dazed by her kiss and recoiled slightly but seemed amused, was the first time somebody had ever done that to him. He then simply rest his head on her shoulder as she rode, trying to recover his energy so he was still dazed. The three of them continued to ride but a strange howling could be heard in the air and the wind around them appeared to grow in force, their horses almost battaling against the torrent of wind and then spirit could be heard cursing as she quickly whipped around and pointed her finger at Catya, she mumbled a spell and it hit Catya and suddenly Catya was ethereal but some magical energy seemed to be locking her in place.
A shadow passed down from the trees and Zevos landed in front of Catya and cursed as he could see she was untouchable, their skill at protecting were impressive. He spun around but somebody had taken advantage of him dropping his guard and he could only grunt with pain as Marcus had launched forward and planted a fist squarely in his gut. The spell on Catya appeared to fade and Spirit yelled at her to keep moving. A new shadow then appeared and dropped dpwn next to spirit, it wss a hooded and cloaked figure which dragged down its hood and time almost seemed broken, slowingndown as the face of Mist was revealed. Spirit lept off her horse towards Mist, body tackling him into the dirt but then suddenly he was no longer there and was above Spirit, planting his foot into her back and pressing against it hard, causing her to yell in agony as the dirt shifted from the sheer pressure of the force of her body being pressed into it.
Mist mantained a blank expression but his eyes were golden with no pupils, he then lifted his foot to deliver a stronger blow but was sent flying as Reaver appeared in his demon form and drop kicked Mist in the center of his back. Reaver shouted loudly at the retreating Catya to keep running before his shouted suddenly appeared to be muffled. Nuel appeared as the little girl and was sitting on the back of Catyas horse and appeared annoyed.
"I am still waiting for you lot, cannot say i find it much fun. I sensed Mist was here so I thought I would come and say hello, it appears that you have been left alone. Cannot say it was totally unexpected. I would advise that you keep moving though, in your current state you would not survive against opponents like that for long. I thought you might need some advice but yea do not expect me to start braiding your hair".
Nuel then looked at the snake and started feeding it live mice while cooing over it like a baby.

Catya could do nothing with horror and awe while frozen, but as soon as the spell began to fade, she spurred forward away from the scene as fast as her horse could take her. Not before she saw Mist though. It couldn't be him, could it?
But it was him somehow. Not just a trick like Spirit's doppelganger.
And there was Nuel, right behind and her calm as ever.
"Believe me, I have zero interest in hair braiding or anything of the like. All I want is to get to the place I have to be," she muttered. Viper seemed happy to see Fate, probably because there was food and adoration involved. It was amusing, and Catya cracked a faint smile.
Hours had passed, and nighttime was upon them. Stopping at the base of a hill, she saw potential shelter in the form of a ruin of an old tower.
Inside it was dark and uninviting, but a good spot to wait out the night.
"Soon," she told herself. "This'll all be over. One way or another."
In every shadow
A dark shadow seemed to flit around the edges of the tower and then flew through one of the open stone windows. It settled in the center and suddenly a ball of flame appeared to hover slightly above the ground and Mist was leaning against a nearby wall. He looked at Catya but his silver eyes were back. He was wrapped in his cloak with his hood down. He gave an awkward smile before walking forwards and kissing Catya lightly on the mouth, then he stepped back with a saddened look upon his face.
"This was not how I wanted our next meeting to go. I was close to seeing you again but I was tricked into an ambush and was imprisoned and now the soul of my long lost sister is within me. I have contained her for now but my time is very limited. I have decided to use that time to see you and share information on how to stop me. My power is too great and she is latched too firmly upon me so you must kill me, in a way. I am not easy to kill though, you would have to eradicate me entirely but the amount of energy you would need is beyond you. If you gain immortality then you must ask Nuel about the elemental gauntlet. With your power and the gauntlet you will have the energy needed to destroy me. I will not truly die though. I will simply fade and be restored in the future once my energy reforms. My sister on the other hand will be eradicated and I will be free of her. She may be immortal but I take immortality to a whole new level".
He then looked at Viper and gave a smile and lightly head butted the snake which it returned. He then sighed heavily and took Catya's hands.
"I do not have much time left. I will leave soon and must remove my memory of this meeting so that my sister does not grow wise to your plan. She does not know of the gauntlet so that gives you an advantage, but until you have it you can only beat me back. This is the only time I will be able to keep her from controlling me and sadly I lack the power to destroy myself, she saw fit to contain some of my abilities otherwise I would be able to take further steps. I am afraid you must deliver the kiling blow".
He gave a sympathetic look and held her to him, savoring the smell of her hair.
"I have roughly half an hour to spare. I will try for more but I promise nothing. I also sense that Zealot is on his way to you. The others are still alive but injured, they will have you meet you further on. I see you finally met Spirit, a shame I missed that. How have you been though?"

Startled, Catya was reachng for Xephos at her belt. But she could see Mist's eyes staring back at her, not those of some golden imposter.
"It's you!" She was probably grinning like a fool, and she could only state the obvious in her surprise. Her face fell though as he continued to speak, and her horror was palpable.
"I have to kill you? And your sister. With a gauntlet. Immortals seem to enjoy making things difficult, don't they? All these ridiculous and seemingly impossible challenges..."
She appreciated his looks of understanding, melting into his embrace and clutching at the lapels of his cloak. "I have been fine," she muttered into his chest. "Asides from everything thats happened in the last two days, its been... quiet."
There was a pragmatic part of herself that wanted to tell Mist to get a head start as far away from here as possible, but she wanted to hoard the seconds of the next half hour,
