A few troopers arrived outside the alley and saw 2 army trucks. The sergeant told 2 troopers to guard the entrance while they entered and search the alley. The troopers looked around and spotted a pile of soldiers. The sergeant heard muffled moans and saw hie men on the ground and a lady pulled him close and hugged him before he could use his radio. The sergeant could not breathe and the lady squeezed tighter and before crushing his lungs, the other lady came over and said, "Lets not kill these..." The unconscious troopers were dragged and cuffed together.
The ladies sneaked out and grabbed the 2 troopers outside. Their necks were gripped and they were easily choked out. "This is a little underwhelming..." The lady said and searched the troopers for keys and could not find any. They walked towards a police car and grabbed a balding trooper out and placed his gun at his throat. "Keys to the car..." A lady said and the trooper unclip a bunch of keys from his belt. The ladies shoved him inside the car and said, "Drive"
Bob's radio crackled and there were a lot of reports on gunshots in the city and police officers getting assaulted. Several road blocks were overrun and soldiers were murdered. "Something is going on. Maybe we can find Sev or more answers." Bob said. "We need to leave and go to one of these sites before Sev gets shot."
Susan Bettson had always been a kind woman. She was 45 pushing 46 and had worked at the Day Inn in her hometown of Cleasville for the past ten years. Her reasoning for this wasn't because she of the wonderful people she worked with, or the short hours, but mostly because of the business. On a "busy" day, the most she had to do was punch in several names into her computer located in the front office and MAYBE book a few rooms in advance, but most customers purchased a room when they were physically present. She sometimes wonder how Mr. Abigail could even afford to keep the place running, but she never had the courage to ask him this herself. In her opinion, the majority of Arabian men were rude to women. Especially women they didn't find attractive.
She was currently walking up the stairs, ever so carefully, with a tray in her hand. With each step she made sure her feet weren't caught in the bottom of her blue floral dress. The items on the tray consisted of two over-medium eggs, three strips of bacon, and slice of toast with a cube of butter in the middle. An American breakfast if there ever was one.
Once at the top of the stairs, Susan pressed forward until she was at the end of the hall. She turned carefully and, holding the tray with one hand, knocked on the door with the numbers "217" printed on front. "Mr. Ripto? Your breakfast is he-" before she could finish the door opened up and she was met by the handsome facial features of Bryan Ripto. Sharp, light blue eyes, shaggy blonde hair, a sort of chiseled chin, and long eyelashes.
"Wow, that was fast!" Bryan exclaimed and moved aside, holding open the door. "Has it ever been any other way?" Susan questioned with a smile and made her way into the room. "Good point," he replied, laughing. Susan crossed the room and placed the tray on a computer desk that was awkwardly placed in the corner. As she did she noticed the channel that was currently on the television. It was the news, and the story that was broadcasting was one she was all too familiar with. Within the past month, the city had been thrown into chaos. People missing, cops dying, etc. Susan herself was worried, but not too worried, for the Day Inn was on the outskirts of the city, as well as her home. "Crazy, eh?" she said, turning towards the TV with her arms crossed. Bryan only nodded, completely focused on the story. They stayed this way for a minute, listening to the story. After about a minute Susan asked Bryan if there was anything else he needed. He said he didn't, thanked her, then she exited. "Sweet boy," she muttered to herself and shut the door behind her.
Bryan now sat on the edge of his bed, devouring his breakfast intensely as he continued watching the news. For some reason, he felt the chaos in the city was somehow connected to him and the lab he had escaped from. In fact, he KNEW it was all connected, and that was when he decided to involve himself. Once he finished his breakfast, he sat the tray on the floor to the right of the bed, then leaned to the left side and grabbed his Nikes. After putting them on, he made note of where the news said the current problem was. 33rd & Cincinnati. Pulling on his light blue jacket, as well as his dark jeans and white t-shirt with a lightening bolt in the middle, Bryan crossed the room to his window. He was on the third floor of the hotel, but that wasn't a problem. He could fly, remember? After watching the streets below, waiting for them to clear, Bryan took a deep breath and launched himself out of the window.
Flying through the city, Bryan made sure to stay out of sight by gliding only three feet above most building stops. Seeing nothing out of the ordinary, he began to question the story the news was telling. Sure, he noticed a few cop cars speeding throughout the streets, not to mention goddamn army trucks, but not much more than that. However, that could have been because Bryan wasn't exactly sure what he was searching for. A burning building? Bodies littering the streets? Something like that, maybe. Just as his hopes (and excitement) were beginning to diminish, he finally spotted a scene most curious. "Bingo," he said. The scene in question was in an alley. As he flew over and slowly began to descend into it he saw a couple of soldiers about a hundred yards north of said alley, but definitely heading in that direction. Also in the alley was a little boy. The boy seemed to be tugging at something around his neck.
Not exactly sure on how to introduce himself without scaring the living daylights out of the kid, Bryan simply said, "Hello there!" as he lowered himself from the air until his feet touched the ground. The little boy was startled. Whether he was surprised by Bryan's presence, or by the fact that he had just been flying, Bryan wasn't sure. "No need to worry. I'm not going to hurt you. What's that around your neck?" Bryan asked, and took a few steps toward the kid. To his surprise, the kid didn't run away. Bryan assumed he himself wasn't the first crazy thing the kid had seen today. As he stood in front of the boy, he crouched until he was face to face with him and used his left hand to feel the contraption around the boy's neck. To his astonishment, the thing didn't give become crushed as he tightened his grip on it. Frowning, Bryan turned his attention to the boy and spoke. "I'm... I'm going to do something that may scare you, but I promise I won't hurt you. Just don't make any sudden movements. I'm going to get this off of you, okay?" Not sure if the kid nodded or not, Bryan began to concentrate on the thick metal ring around the kid's neck. Merely seconds into it, Bryan's eyes began to turn a bright red and a red smoke began to float from his pupils. After that, the metal ring began to smoke and melt away. With his heat vision almost melted away the ring completely, Bryan gripped it with two hands and pulled. The ring made a soft pop noise and split in half. "There we go!" Bryan started, "Feel better? So, what's your name, man? Mine's Bry-" but before Bryan could finish introducing himself, a voice rose up from behind him. "Bad move, kid."
Bryan jumped and turned around sharply. He eyes fell upon a woman. She was dressed in a dark, expensive looking suit. Her hair was in a bun, and she had the brightest green eyes Bryan had ever seen. He took a step to the left, positioning himself in front of the boy. "Oh yeah? Why's that?" Bryan asked, trying to not sound even remotely worried. The woman only smiled before she advanced towards them...

The cop called for backup and more soldiers and cops arrived. Then there were screams in the apartment building. The cops secured the stairwell and the entrances while the soldiers started to search the building. They found several houses on the 5th floor being kicked open and the occupants inside all murdered. "This is bad... The killer is here..." a soldier muttered. They knocked the doors and quickly got the other residents to leave. "Do we know what he looked like?" a soldier asked and the other soldier shrugged. The cops saw people approaching and as there were many of them, they allowed the residents to leave the building. They do not know what or who to look for.
A man managed to get the ring off Sev's neck and Sev was glad as he has heard sirens nearby. "Feel better? So, what's your name, man? Mine's Bry-" It was clear this man was not human and then another lady was in the alley. Sev's heartbeat started racing, his hands were clammy and sweating. Sev hid behind Bryan and kept absolutely silent.
Then from the other side of the alley, a few men with flashlights were coming in. "The beacon went out here... Spread out and search, be careful, they may be very dangerous." From the silhouettes, the men were armed with rifles, and they were approaching and Sev believes that they were coming for him. Sev tugged at Bryan's shirt and pointed at the approaching flashlights.
The soldiers were going from house to house evacuating people and the farmer waited in ambush on the ceiling. The farmer landed silently behind a soldier and grabbed the soldier's head and with a quick jerk, snapped his neck. The other soldier turned around and the farmer shoved his thumbs into the soldier's eyes, killing him instantly. The farmer then licked the blood off his thumbs and stripped the dead soldier.
2 more soldiers entered the apartment and the farmer now in the soldier's uniform grabbed a soldier's face and smashed it into the wall, crushing his skull. The other soldier was disarmed and the farmer choked the soldier. The soldier flailed and eventually went limp. The man vomited a black ooze into the soldier's mouth and collapsed on the ground.
The soldier woke up and drew his dagger. One by one, the soldier killed the rest of his platoon with his dagger and they did not suspect anything before getting sliced open.
Bob drove towards the apartment and saw many police cars and several army trucks. "Maybe you should stay here John. " Bob said and got out to his car and put on his additional bullet proof vest and helmet and approached the apartment. Bob saw the cops helping to evacuate some people and asked the sergeant and he heard that there were some disturbance upstairs and the soldiers were clearing the apartments and his job was to secure the perimeter.
At the rear exit in the alley, a few cops saw 2 pretty ladies climbing down the fire escape. "Someone is behind us..." the ladies said and the old cops escorted them out of the alley. The cops went up to check and saw the window on the third floor open and looked inside. A fat cop was grabbed and tossed against the wall. The other cop was pounced on and headbutted in the face by a soldier in his helmet and went limp.
An old cop returned to the alley and heard a loud thump sound and scanned around with his flashlight. He walked around a dumpster and saw 4 cops slumped on the ground and a hand covered his mouth and he was punched in the back of his head and laid on the limp cops.
Bob saw his friends helping a few pretty ladies out of the alley and they were talking about a killer behind them. So Bob followed a group of cops and returned to the alley. "Something is not right..." Bob muttered as he spotted a flashlight on the ground.
As Bob picked up the flashlight, he heard some sounds behind him and saw a man with inhuman strengths tossing the cops away and assaulting the cops. Bob reached for his gun but one of the old cops was punched so hard that the old cop flew into Bob and Bob fell on the ground and the man walked over and stomped on the old cop on Bob and everything went black.
The man in the soldier uniform exited the alley and a police sergeant asked him. "What's going on up there." The soldier grabbed the sergeant's throat and choked him silently and dragged him to the police car. A plump cop walked over and the soldier covered his mouth and rammed a few punches into his soft body and the plump cop went limp and was tossed into the police car with anyone else noticing.
Bob woke up, gasping for breadth He checked on the cops and most of them were alive. Bob quickly called for backup and staggered out of the alley and the cops noticed the unconscious sergeant and they searched around. "He may still be here. But be careful he is very dangerous."
Bob got into his car and went into the nearby alley which were dark and good for hiding. He saw a motorcycle cop arrive and nodded at the cop and searched the alley carefully.
Grey was pissed. He felt great. Amazing even. He was doing better physically than he could ever remember, but he was still pissed. This town was going to hell, like a comedic 'unintentional' Rube Goldberg in a movie, but this was much bigger and more immediate than some domino or butterfly effect.
Grey looked at himself in the mirror, still trying to wash the blood off his face. His skin had some color to it for once and he looked like someone who actually ate three meals a day as opposed to nothing. He was still tall. Still slim. He still looked like some subtlety emo teen who would rather stay home than face the world. The long black bangs covering the scar over his right eye definitely aided the image. Not to mention the dark clothes.
He didn't want to be here, and he didn't want to feel as great as he did, but he had no choice. The devil (not thee Devil), had ordered him to be here, and he could not disobey. He'd been sent here for his health and the 'treatment' was definitely working. Grey wasn't human. Not quite. What he was, was a hybrid tangled mess of the half formed ideas of 'science' and curiosity.
In the simplest words, he was a ghoul. He was a creature that needed to consume human flesh to function properly. That was the thing. Grey hated everything about it. He didn't want to be this way. He'd honestly rather be dead, but that wasn't even an option as he couldn't simply die. He fought what he was as well as he could. As he was used to the side effect of the constant aching hunger that came with being what he was, he'd often go weeks without eating man meat. This was not 'good' for him. He always looked thin, pale, and sickly due to this decision. He could still eat and run on regular food, but it wouldn't keep him properly sustained.
The devil who currently 'owned' him was growing tired of his 'shenanegans'. This devil was like a father to Grey. A father he hated and despised above all else, but was bound by devilry to obey. As a 'father' would, the devil put a stop to Grey's self-degradation.
And so, here he was, like a parasite, in some inn on the edge of this violently bleeding town, a scavenger to the carnage. So many people were dying DAILY here, that not all corpses were found and accounted for very quickly. This was no doubt the reason he was sent here. His 'father' was perfectly aware of Grey's dislike for killing people. Grey found it awfully thoughtful of a literal devil.
Done removing blood from his face, he sat himself on the bed, staring at the floor. As soon as it was dark, he'd head out again. He just hoped he'd be aloud to leave this town sooner than later.
(Ooc. Feel free to throw Grey around like a rag doll. Just don't get ridiculous.)
The farmer now in a soldier's uniform walked towards a few police cars. Moving silently behind a trooper, the farmer grabbed him in a sleeper hold. The trooper flailed silently as the farmer lifted him off the ground and slowly laid him on the ground. The farmer took the knife from the trooper's boots and approached the other troopers. He moved behind a few troopers chatting and slit the throats of 2 troopers and grabbed the remaining fat trooper. Forcing the trooper to the side of his car, the farmer placed the knife at his throat. "You got the keys?" The farmer asked and the trooper nodded as he was overpowered. The farmer grabbed the trooper's head after taking his keys and squeezed. The trooper screamed in pain and struggled helplessly as the farmer crushed his skull and tossed his lifeless corpse aside. Getting into the car, the farmer drove off.
Sev was scared, he backed off a little and teleported again and this time a few troopers spotted him and gave chase. There were also soldiers and Sev gave a good run before an old trooper bumped into him and as the others caught up, the old trooper grabbed Sev's leg and eventually subdued Sev. Sev was then escorted to a police car.
The farmer heard about the police report that Sev was arrested and drove there. There were several cops around and the farmer looked around for Sev. Spotting soldiers in a dark alley, the farmer moved over. The farmer snapped the neck of a soldier and grabbed another soldier from behind and used his rifle to choke him. The farmer then moved in the dark alley ambushing soldiers and after killing off all the soldiers, the farmer spotted another man in the alley, walking around the corpses and feeding on them. "Bottom feeders..." The farmer in the soldier uniform said and exited the alley and looked around. A Trooper approached and the farmer simply punched his throat and dragged him into the alley. The trooper choked silently before the farmer snapped his neck.
The farmer then approached the police cars and looked around. "Ah...." The farmer said as he moved behind 2 troopers and slit their throats and covered their mouths as they gurgled on the ground. "This should not be hard." The farmer said and saw Sev in a police car and approached a fat trooper outside the car. The fat trooper was shoved onto the car and the farmer covered his mouth and stabbed a knife through his vest into his heart. Twisting the knife, the fat trooper stopped struggling and the farmer looked into the car and saw Sev.
Sev screamed and phased outside the car and ran. He was scared and really tired and dizzy from using his powers and the farmer started to chase him. "Hey, get him!" The old trooper shouted and the troopers chased Sev. More sirens can be heard and Sev simply ran for his life while the troopers chased him.
The farmer followed the troopers and as they entered the alley, the farmer grabbed a trooper's head and slammed it on the wall. Then he reached 2 plump trooper and smashed their faces to a dumpster and tossed them inside. An old cop paused for breadth and the trooper covered his mouth and punched him in the back of his head and he collapsed. "What the hell..." Another trooper reached for his gun as he saw the farmer punched the trooper but the farmer simply slapped his gun aside and landed a few deadly blows into his vitals and grabbed his throat.
Sev fell and a trooper quickly grabbed him and subdued him. Sev struggled but the trooper was too strong. The trooper suddenly spotted the dead soldiers on the ground and as he looked back, he saw the farmer in the soldier uniform snapping the neck of a trooper and approaching. Sev saw the trooper draw his gun and fired a round into the soldier's armor but the soldier grabbed his gun and pulled the trooper close and crushed him with a hug.
Sev got up and ran. He could hear gunshots behind him but his adrenalin kept him propelled forward. He spotted more soldiers on the ground and saw another boy eating a soldier. "What is going on?" Sev said looking at the Ghoul in fear.
Startled and ashamed, Grey lept up from the corpse, quickly flicking down his black jackal mask. He'd been careless. He realised this was spiralling down into an addiction like it used to be. He was losing focus. Losing control. He needed to stop. Stop now. Before he lost himself again.
Grey knew psycho killer when he saw it, and this 'soldier' screamed psycho killer. This kid was clearly terrified of both of them, and rightly so, but whether the kid knew it or not, Grey meant no harm.
Remembering what he'd heard on the crackling radios of the dead, he knew this kid was in trouble. Stepping into a stance, Grey wielded his six inch knife, the blade still dripping with blood. Glaring at the psycho through the mask, he hoped the kid would take the hint and either get behind him or run past him. He did both, keeping several yards behind Grey, but still there.
The man rushed him with his dagger and he blocked it with a crook in his blade, but the man was much stronger than him. Their knives shook and clacked as the man overpowered him.
A shot had been fired at them from behind the soldier. It was clearly aiming for Grey, as his opponent was military, but it missed. The distraction had been enough. As the shot rang out, the soldier glanced behind him at the source, giving Grey the opportunity to slash at him, nicking his neck and face. The cut was somewhat shallow, but it bled heavily, spraying out. Using his superior speed, Grey lept away before the man could act, snatched the radio off the dead man's chest and sprinted back towards the kid who looked like he was on the verge of falling unconscious. It was a wonder how he was still standing.
Grey scooped up the kid in his arms, the kid yelping in surprise and slight fear. The cop shouted for him to stop, but was silenced by a dagger to the throat from the soldier. Grey ran, sirens blaring down the next street over. Just about to round the corner, he gasped, stumbling. The assailant, unable to keep up, had thrown his knife just as Grey changed direction. The knife clattered to the ground. It hadn't stabbed him, but it had sliced somewhat deeply through the flesh between his right shoulder and neck.
Grey kept running, his speed building back up, but soon he would be leaving a trail. He glanced down at the kid in his arms as he ran. He had lost consciousness. Grey had to think fast. Sirens were closing in and the soldier was still chasing them with no sign of stopping. He couldn't keep this pace forever. Suddenly, he was struck by a risky idea. He headed towards the sound of sirens.
A squad car was headed strait for them and visa versa. The car nearly on them, Grey made a sharp right into a narrow alleyway, then turned again. He heard the car screech to a stop. He stopped, gently put the kid down, and took his jacket off, quickly wrapping it around his bleeding shoulder and pulling it tight. Judging by the sudden stop to the shouting from the cops, the soldier had reached the mouth of the alley around the corner. Grey picked up the boy again and ran, twisting and turning through alleys and side roads. Without the fear of leaving a trail, Grey was easily able to avoid the loud sirens of police and military and loose his pursuer. Double checking, using the abilities of his right eye, he knew he'd gotten away.
As it was the middle of the night, Grey returned to his room unseen. He was in better shape than usual, but still lacked stamina. He was exhausted. He carefully put the kid down on the bed, hoping he made the right decision. Grey lowered himself into the chair in the corner of the room, taking his mask off. Sweating, panting, and already drifting, he decided he'd worry about his shoulder when he woke up.
(Ooc XD this story needs to CALM DOWN. my goodness!! It's easy to get VERY lost in all the action. I think it needs a little more STORY.)

Bob entered the alley with the motorcycle cop and searched. Bob found several troopers placed in a pile and before he could radio for help, a hand covered his mouth and Bob was forced onto the wall. Footsteps approached and Bob felt a fist into his lower back and collapsed in pain. The motorcycle cop approached and was grabbed before he reached for his gun. He was tossed into the wall and the man punched the back of his neck and the motorcycle cop went limp.
Bob was in pain and he saw the man in a soldier's uniform skillfully taking out the cops. A few cops entered the alley and the man walked up to them and landed deadly blows into their bodies and with quick jabs, the cops collapsed. He saw he man cuffing the cops twitching in pain and the man approached Bob. Bob tried to crawl away but the man stepped on Bob's shoe and grabbed Bob. Bob had his backup gun in his hand and as the man flipped Bob over, Bob frantically fired a shot and hit the man in the eye and he collapsed on the ground. Bob was horrified but also satisfied that it seemed to be finally over.
Bob caught his breadth and laid on the ground for a while. Unfortunately, it was not over yet as Bob heard yet another gunshot and struggled to get up. "I'm too old for this shit..." Bob muttered and drew his gun and staggered towards the gunshot.
Bob saw a few cops on the ground and another soldier chasing a man carrying Sev. The soldier was swift and took out a cop and continued to chase the man with Sev. Bob followed a little and realized that the soldier was inhumanly fast as well. Bob exited the alley and saw the soldier with an old cop in his arms and 3 other cops already on the ground. The old cop flailed helplessly as the soldier choked him. Bob aimed a the soldier and shot at him and hit him twice in the chest. Bob ran ahead and was shocked as the soldier was gone and the old cop was gasping for breadth. "Damn it, body armor." Bob muttered. "And he's gone..."
Bob was scared. This soldier also killed several cops and Bob did not want to be ambushed and decided to wait. As the adrenalin wears off, Bob could feel the aches and pains on his back, bruises from the other soldier punches.
"I need to find Sev..." Bob said. "Something is going on and I need to know what is up." Then Bob saw a lady dragging the motorcycle cop into the police car. "Hey there, Freeze!" Bob shouted and approached with his gun drawn. As Bob reached for his handcuffs, the lady turned around and grabbed his gun and punched his gut. Bob was disarmed and she grabbed his neck and Bob managed to cuff one of her hands and the lady seemed annoyed and Bob felt a prick at his neck and everything went black.
Bob woke up in the hospital bed with several cops and he was informed that he got into an accident and was given drugs which may make him hallucinate. "Damn it... is Sev real?"

Sev was scared, but it seemed that the Ghoul just started to attack the soldier. Sev was confused for a moment and wanted to get away. Then the Ghoul came back and grabbed him and ran off as more cops arrived. Sev saw one of the old cops he met but he was just too tired and went unconscious.
It was the nightmares again. Sev had the same nightmares about the experiments, the shock collars and the upside down. How he was forced to go in and retrieve things and the monsters chasing him. The ooze, the slugs and other horrific creatures in a place he does not want to return to ever again. He also knew he did not want to go back to the lab. This nightmare was different, it was like a memory of what happened, and Sev could see the farmer coming for him.
The black slug crawled out of the soldier's mouth and entered the mouth of a fat old trooper. The trooper got up and looked at himself and walked out. When he reached a few new police cars that arrived, he looked at the mirror and was annoyed. "Need a better body." The trooper said and directed the cops into the alley. He waited and soon, more police arrived and he saw several cops in body armor and directed the cops to look for Sev and the other killers.
In the police truck, the trooper saw an armored police sergeant and a pudgy cop beside him monitoring the radio. "That will do... " The trooper said and entered the truck and moved behind them. The pudgy cop was clubbed in the head and the trooper grabbed the police sergeant. The sergeant was punched in the throat and forced to the ground. The trooper vomited black ooze into his mouth and collapsed.
Moments later, the police sergeant got up and cleaned himself. He grabbed the trooper and snapped his neck with ease. "Not too bad." The police sergeant said and looked into the mirror. "Let me test this body out..."
The police sergeant went to the alley but the cops did not find anything. "I will have my revenge"

When Grey came around again, his shoulder was aching and throbbing in pain. Blood had soaked through his jacket, but it seemed to be slowing. The sun was just starting to come up. He straightened up in the chair, checking the bed beside him. Whoever the kid was, he was still there, out cold. Who knew how long he'd been running around before he ran into Grey?
Grey hoped he wouldn't end up regretting this. He was awkward with kids, but that was the least of his worries. He didn't know who this kid was or why so many people were after him. He didn't know what he'd gotten himself into, and now he was smack in the middle of it. It was his knack for making terrible decisions at it again, but what was he supposed to have done? Leave the kid to his fate? He couldn't do that. He wasn't like that anymore.
Sighing, Grey stood up, careful not to move his arm unnecessarily. It was about time he did something about his shoulder. In the bathroom, he tore towels, tossing his blood-heavy jacket in the tub. His shoulder still oozed slowly, but he wrapped it with makeshift bandages, washing away any blood that had come to dry to his skin again, then pulled a clean black shirt on over it. He'd buy some more useful things for his shoulder when he had the chance, but now wasn't the time.
He changed into some dark jeans and took out his thicker grey jacket to have available to hide the bulky 'bandages' if he needed to. He wasn't sure what else to do right now. He supposed that this kid would probably be hungry when he woke up. Grey wasn't sure what he should get. Weren't kids usually picky? Did he need to over complicate it, though?
Sitting down again, Grey pulled open the nightstand drawer and took out the phone book. He flipped through the pages until he found what he was looking for.
Done ordering pizza to be delivered, Grey hung up the phone, but didn't take his hand off. He hesitated. After a deep breath, he picked it up again and dialed in a number. It didn't ring long.
"Grey! How are you?" Said the voice, cheerfully, not needing to ask who he was talking to.
"I'm gonna get fat," said Grey quietly as not to wake his new responsibility, little humor in his voice.
"Oh, really?" Laughed the voice. "We both know that's literally impossible."
"I swear to god every single person I've found was overweight. All of them. Every last agent of the law in this town is either old or overweight." Grey's voice was flat as he spoke, almost emotionless. "And there's so many. I don't know where they're all coming from."
"That's hilarious! Doing well then, are you?"
"Better than ever," he said sarcastically.
"Well, good for you, kiddo!" Grey physically cringed at the name. "Keep it up."
Grey didn't hide his angry sigh, now leaning against the wall. "How much longer? There's no point anymore."
Grey's eyes narrowed when he thought he heard a chuckle. "Not much longer. You'll be home before you know it." -click. He'd hung up.
Grey was unsure what he'd specifically meant by 'home', but now that the conversation was over, he immediately filled with annoyance and frustration. He felt the urge to slam the phone down onto the receiver, but resisted, hanging up quietly.
He settled for an angry sigh before pulling away the curtain from the window slightly, viewing the morning traffic out on the street. He stared out at the world, trying to let his mind go blank so he could calm down.
After some time, Grey noticed a car with a pizza sign on top pulling into the parking lot. He closed the curtain and pulled on his jacket. He'd told them on the phone to meet him at the front desk. Before closing the door behind him, Grey glanced back at the sleeping boy on the bed, hesitant to leave him unattended. Shutting the door quietly, he reasoned that he would only be gone for a minute, and besides, he could easily 'keep an eye' on the kid.

Sev 's nightmare got worse. He tossed and turned and eventually woke up in cold sweat. He was still tired and sat up to look around. His stomache is making a growling sound and he is thirsty. "Let me see what I can find here? Wonder where this is?" He muttered and drank from the tap. He looked around and it was unfamiliar. This was not the lab or police station, but rather, it was like an apartment.
Sev entered the bathroom and looked into the mirror. The collar was gone, there were several scratches and bruises on him, but he felt fine. Sev cleaned the wounds and his stomach growled again. "If only there was food..."
The sergeant walked toward a police car and another cop came along and the sergeant told the other cop to drive. He sat beside the cop and directed. When he close his eyes, he can try to sense where Sev was and simply drove around town to search. The method as rather bad and the sergeant just had a direction he felt Sev was and he stopped the car and searched the alleys. The sergeant followed the cop in the alley and suddenly grabbed the cop in a neck lock and choked the cop. The cop flailed and the sergeant snapped his neck. Then the sergeant proceeded to call for backup and waited.
"The boy is around here." The sergeant said and stared at an apartment block. "He is somewhere in there. Perhaps the other cops can help. " The sergeant waited and saw a pizza delivery. He sat across from the apartment and waited for backup to arrive.
Sev was uneasy and hungry. The person who saved him did not harm him. Sev decided to wait and laid on the couch to rest up.
Bob was on standby duty when he met the other cops in the station joking about a lady choking them. Strangely Bob's report never mentioned Sev and he was assaulted by the same lady the other cops met.
"She kissed me and hugged me, then tried to do naughty things with me." A balding cop said.
"But you were choked out...." An old cop said. "Sarge was also kissed, and not because he was pretty..."
"Is it like a suffocation game that people play, asphyxiation, whips, and chains?" A fat cop chuckled. "Well, people pay good money for that... Did you get aroused?"
Bob continued to find out more of what happened, but the reports were brief, and there was not much to work on. "Damn it, I'm not a detective, but I'm actually doing their job..." Bob muttered and found photos of the soldier that attacked him getting killed. "Good, one less menance..."
Just then, an alarm rang and the sergeant entered the room and told everyone to put on armor and go. Bob was now with a group of fat old "reserve cops" many of whom did not see any active duty for years, and simply on desk jobs waiting for retirement. Not everyone was taking it serious, and they were given photos of some of the attackers, 2 of them were pretty ladies in their late 20's and the cops were cracking jokes about getting choked from these ladies.
The situation however was quite serious, and they were told a cop was murdered. The mood in the truck got more serious as the cops inside started to realize the dangers. Even though their jobs was probably secure an apartment block or crowd management, there was now a danger element and the thrill of taking out a cop killer.
Bob checked his gun and reloaded some ammo. Bob looked at the cops he was with, many of them were old, out of shaped and some even did not put on their body armor right. The sergeant and Bob had to help everyone to make sure things were in order and they exited the truck when they arrived. It was an apartment block and some were directed to secure the rear and the others created a perimeter to stop people from passing by. The trunk was parked far away and cannot be seen by people in the apartment, but it would only take a few more minutes before the news trucks arrive and blow their cover.
Grey had seen the police car pull over down the street through the window, but he 'toggled' through his various vision related abilities anyway. Nothing seemed too unusual. Just two human shaped orange blurs, one sitting still in the driver's seat, the other getting out. Then again, the one exiting the car seemed to have a colder body temperature. He was more towards yellow than orange. Taking note, but not panicking, Grey made his way back upstairs, pizza in hand.
Before unlocking the door, Grey checked for the orange shape of the kid he'd saved. It had moved from where his bed was to the couch. Judging by body language, Grey thought that the kid didn't seem particularly scared.
Grey didn't quite know how best to approach, but he unlocked the door and opened it, allowing the kid time to realize he was coming in. The kid sat up, looking at him. Now that they saw each other face to face, it was clear that neither knew what to say. Breaking the stalemate, Grey opened the pizza box and took a step forward, offering the simple cheese and pepperoni. "Pizza?"
He had suspected correctly that this kid was hungry. With a shy "thanks," the kid took a slice and quickly devoured it. Grey put the box down on the couch, giving the kid free reign over the ever popular Italian-American dish. As the kid ate, Grey sat down on his bed, deciding to check on the location on the police officer. He was in the building.
Grey spoke up. "Someone after you... or us... might be here. Downstairs. It could be nothing, but be ready to run. There's an emergency ladder outside by the window."
The kid's face immediately showed fear, but Grey calmly picked up the phone again, redialing the devil's number.
"Calling me again so soon? It must be my birthday."
Grey ignored the man. "I might have a situation."
The devil's voice became slightly more serious. "What kind of situation?"
"A curiosity. Both sides. It's escalating." Without explaining any further, he hung up. Checking how close the officer was, he grabbed his mask.
